Chapter 115

KAILEEN ANDY LEWIS

In the end, I just want someone who chooses me over anything else.

I think I deserve that.

So, I walked away from Erika's apartment with a heavy heart.

My every steps were slow, forced.

'Let's break up—'

The words stung like venomous needles p.r.i.c.king every fiber of my body.

It resounded in my ears blocking all other sound around me.

I don't even know how did I manage to move myself out from her apartment. It was like my body just moved on its own accord but my mind was nowhere at all; my mind was muddled, racing in different directions.

Then I felt arms wrapped around me securely. I looked up and saw my ever beloved friend, Donna.

Tears were forming around her eyes, blinking away the tears a couple of times.

I faked a smile and that's all she needed to know everything, making her hold of me tightened.

We walked silently to my car waiting outside.

'tsk'

I just stared out the window on the drive home, muted. My friend kept on glancing at me worriedly from time to time and didn't speak either.

I was just thankful she didn't or I'll crumble and break— once again.

'tsk'

During the ride, I sarcastically laughed at myself inwardly.

'funny'

Yeah, very funny 'cause I had planned this all along— to break up with Erika if my last attempt of convincing were to fail.

And she was absolutely right, when she said: last night's adventure in bed was telling her all my goodbye's.

I was just too guilty hearing the truth from her that I just stood before her, stunned on my ground.

Also, the reason I asked her to hang out in her apartment was to keep her safe from any harm if the worst were to happen— the break up.

I had it all planned.

I know she'll run away from me at the heat of the moment: will cry, will drive her car, and I don't want her to meet an accident due to a troubled mind.

Hence, I planned for us to talk in her apartment so that I would be the one who would run in pain and not her.

And since I don't want also to meet my end on the road, though something in me died in that moment, I asked Donna to be my ride.

Donna knows everything anyway, my joy and all my griefs and sufferings in this relations.h.i.+p.

We even argued: she's against the idea of me, breaking up with Erika.

And now, the funny thing was— Erika broke up me and not the other way around.

It drifted away from the plan I carefully revised and the worst is—

I f.u.c.king didn't know that it would hurt like h.e.l.l; like being thrown in the lake of fire.

And I'm literally dying inside.

viLelouch POV

"Hey wait up!" Donna took longer strides in the parking lot to catch up with Mei.

Mei was blazing in fury as she briskly walked her way up to Andy's apartment.

It has been two days since the break up and she's raging in anger for Andy in causing her cousin so much agony.

"I said wait up!" Donna finally caught up and took a hold of Mei's arm causing the girl to spun around.

Donna met the girl's deadliest glare, "Don't you dare stop me just because she's your bestfriend!"

Donna released her hold and as if in a queue, the elevator opened.

Both entered and held their tongue but the killing intent radiating from Mei contaminated the air around the small s.p.a.ce they were in.

Donna helplessly sighed when Mei darted out from the elevator as soon as it opened and stood angrily at Andy's front door.

Donna sighed again before entering the pa.s.sword.

Right, Mei pestered her in getting that pa.s.sword. The girl knew that her bestfriend would surely not let anybody in nor receive a guest at the moment. Hence, she needed the pa.s.scode for the confrontation and somehow satisfy her anger..

And of course, she doesn't want to give it but the girl really was scary and even threatened to break the d.a.m.n door if need be but despite that, she also would want to check on her bestfriend so she ended up coming with Mei.

'tsk'

The door unlocked and darkness greeted them. When their eyes finally adjusted in the dark, the only light that seemed to illuminate the room came from the opened door in the balcony.

It was very quiet not until they heard a piano key pressed randomly and their eyes landed on a figure.

There sat Andy on the piano with her back at them.

Even with just her back, one could tell how dispirited and sad she was, that her sadness defiled how homely the room used to be.

Even Mei who was raging in anger a while back seemed to calm herself down at the sight of Andy.

Then a melody started to form and Andy sung a song that pulled out every hair of Donna's body to stand—

… she s.h.i.+vered as cold chill crept through her every vein at the sound.

She felt like crying—

Then a sorrowful voice was heard: singing, pouring out feelings of griefs, misery and pain.

[There's no reason, there's no rhyme

I found myself blindsided by

A feeling that I've never known

I'm dealing with it on my own]

[Phone is quiet, walls are bare

I drink myself to sleep, who cares?

No one even has to know

I'm dealing with it on my own]

Mei and Donna didn't dare to interupt the girl. They just listened with their backs leaning on the wall.

After some time, Mei slid herself down and sat on the floor, curling her knees up to her chin, and slouched her shoulders forward.

Andy sung the song of so much grief and sorrow that crept through their bones penetrating the marrows.

[I got way too much time to be this hurt

Somebody help, it's getting worse

What do you do with a broken heart?

Once the light fades, everything is dark]

[Way too much whiskey in my blood

I feel my body giving up

Can I hold on for another night?

What do I do with all this time?]

Then the dispirited girl leaned on the piano: forward, slowly, her forehead rested on the keys, her shoulders shook and sobs were heard, ripping Donna's heart while Mei buried her face on her knees not able to bear the sight before her eyes.

Blinking away the tears forming on Donna's eyes, she approached her friend, slapped the back of the head, just enough to get attention, which made the girl to look up to her— unstartled, lifeless.

A tear fell down on Donna's eyes seeing her friend's state that close: a mess, dark cirles in the eyes, puffy and unfocussed— surely deprived of sleep.

She led her to lay on the sofa, which Andy didn't protest at all. She just let herself be led, like a puppet: as if no mind, no care in the world.

Donna made use of her lap as a comfortable pillow for her friend.

While she was stroking Andy's messy hair, silent tears continue to ran down her cheek.

She was in pain seeing what her friend has been going through.

She could tell the night for Andy has been a nightmare, insomia taking in, and every effort trying to sleep was in vain as sleeping pills were on the coffee table as evidence.

Donna could just silently cry, biting her lips not to let a sound.

'ugh'

Not long, Andy drifted to sleep.

"Help me here Mei."

Grumpily, Mei helped Donna carry Andy to the bedroom. Coming back to the living room, Donna put her hands on her waist scanning the entire place then sighed.

Looking around, scattered everywhere were cans of beer, bottles of whisky, and some other alcohol beverages.

There were boxes of pizza too, it seems her friend was just eating pizza for those whole two days.

Laundry also were scattered on the floor and some broken gla.s.ses.

'ugh'

It was really a mess.

"And where are you going?" Donna accusingly asked the girl who's about to leave..

Mei spun around and met Donna's eyes in thin line.

"Home," Mei answered then continued her step towards the door.

"Are you being serious?" Donna eyed her with a high pitched tone in her voice.

Mei turned around again, "Yes?—" her brow lifted and also her voice.

Donna's brow lifted up to battle and shot a dare look, "You are stuck with me here."

"You have to help me clean this place up," she said firmly while spreading her arms wide.

Mei sneered, "And why should I help you with that?"

"I'm no cleaning service."

'tsk'

Without waiting for Donna's answer, she reached to the door and turned the k.n.o.b to open.

"How about I treat you to dinner— after," Donna proposed, her tone inviting.

Mei turned her body gracefully, inspecting if her frenemy was being serious.

Donna rolled her eyes and a mischievous smile curved up at Mei's as she caught it.

"Is this your way of asking me on a date?"

Donna groaned, "Not in a million years honey."

Mei chuckled, "Fine, a dinner then," she was smiling and started grabbing some empty bottles on the floor to clean.

"A date then," Donna a.s.serted, intentionally, just barely reaching Mei's ears though.

But for Mei, it was as clear as the sound of a bell.

It made the girl to froze for a second, lifted her head up with a dropped jaw, then searched for her frenemy's gaze— confused if she heard it right.

Donna smirked mischievously, " A dinner—," she retracted and started cleaning up the pizza boxes, leaving Mei confused.

"I heard you— you said a 'date' ," Mei insisted.

"Did I?" Donna feigned ignorance but her eyes were full of mischief and then resumed cleaning up the mess not giving another more glance at Mei.

"Hey," Mei demanded an attention.

"What?" Donna faced her, holding trashes on both of her hands like wings on her side, with a mischievous smirk this time.

Mei rolled her eyes and groaned, turning around, heading her way out the door, annoyed.

"You can clean this place up by yourself then," she said, waving her hand lazily.

"Fine, a date then," Donna uttered before Mei could walk out the door, smiling.

A playful smirk plastered on Mei's this time around, "Fine, a dinner then."

Donna's brows furrowed and her mouth hung low, "What?"

Mei just snickered and begun to seriously help cleaning the place.

The two bickered nonstop from then on as they work but more than that—

… the idiots blossoming relations.h.i.+p was more than the mess the place they were cleaning up.

'hahaha'
