The reapers were annoyed seeing the smirk on Zeno's face.

Adam scoffed, 'Just because he breached one s.h.i.+eld, he's being c.o.c.ky now.'

One among the reapers, flashed past the others as it aimed its scythe and threw it towards Zeno's direction. The witchcraft entangled with the weapon made it grow in size as it got closer and closer to the walls.

Seeing the incoming attack, his face turned serious as Zeno shouted, "MOVE"

Zeno jumped to the ground and on landing, he wiped out the death troops encircling him with a swing of his leg, clearing the s.p.a.ce around him.

He looked up at the right time to see the high walls collapse under the ma.s.sive scythe. A loud explosion along with his soldier's cries was heard as few bricks were seen falling over them.

Zeno quickly summoned a winds.h.i.+eld protecting his troop from getting crushed by the stones.

He looked at the big ma.s.sive hole which was huge enough for giants to pa.s.s through.

He gritted his teeth, 'b.l.o.o.d.y h.e.l.l... The abyss formed from the impact is large enough for them to raid our kingdom.'

At that moment, he saw the reaper glide pa.s.s through the bricks and reach the scythe which was laying down on the floor. He picked up the scythe which was back to its normal shape and gawked at the citizens inside the huge walls.

Right in front of the hole, two kids were seen crawling on the floor as they tried to run away.

They wanted to watch the battle as they aimed to be like the thunder squad in future. They escaped their parent's sight and came near the gate to watch the battle as they were confident that thunder squad members would succeed.

But alas! there were guards still lingering near the gates protecting Usui and others who couldn't partic.i.p.ate in the battle.

The guards halted the kids and instructed them to return to their safe zone.

The kids turned back disappointedly as they slowly walked back pouting their lips.

Boom!!

They heard a loud explosion and turned to see the walls in front collapse. Right in front of them, among the ruins, stood an ugly creature in a cloak with skeleton hands holding onto a scythe.

Grim reaper!

The word flashed through their minds as they watched the figure before them.

The grim reaper, usually a skeletal figure, who is often shrouded in a dark, hooded robe and carrying a scythe to "reap" human souls.

Remembering the definition which was taught by their teacher in cla.s.s. The kids shuddered in fear as they clasped each other in fear.

Terrified, the kids fell down on their b.u.t.ts as they watched the reaper smirk at them. They could feel their strength draining from their body as they watched in fear.

Tears were escaping their eyes uncontrollably as they tried to move but couldn't gather enough strength.

Zeno was fl.u.s.tered as he noticed the kids, he glanced at the reaper who had already started moving to enter the gates. He widened his eyes as he summoned wind under his feet to increase his flying speed to stop the reaper from moving forward.

He attacked the reaper desperately in hopes of distracting it.

But, the reaper was too fast as it quickly dodged the attacks and halted in front of the gates. It was like the reaper met with an invisible barrier.

Zeno slowed down his tracks as he watched the reaper bewilderingly.

He didn't understand why the reaper stopped in front of the gates.

Zeno widened his eyes when he saw the reaper grip the scythe tightly and flung it high above his head to strike the area in front of him.

Zeno cursed silently, 's.h.i.+t... it's too late.'

He mustered a s.h.i.+eld around the kids in the hope of reducing the damage.

Zeno clenched his fists tightly but all of a sudden his eyes enlarged as if they would pop out of their sockets, as he watched the scythe clash with something in the air, halting it from raining down.

A loud thud was echoed throughout the field bringing it to the attention of others. They gaped at the invisible s.h.i.+eld around their kingdom in awe.

The ma.s.sive scythe clashed against an invisible s.h.i.+eld in the air. The s.h.i.+eld shook under its force but still held on, protecting the kingdom like a strong iron wall.

Zeno gaped at the dome-shaped s.h.i.+eld which enclosed the entire kingdom. He exhaled heavily before he glanced down at the owner of the s.h.i.+eld.

Usui was leaning against Zelal, who had his one arm wrapped around his waist holding him up. He was panting as beads of sweat dripped down from his face, making his hair stick to his forehead.

Usui swore, 'd.a.m.n! That took a little more of mana than I hoped.'

He clutched his chest as he felt his body lose strength. He looked up and saw Zeno nod at him.

He sighed and looked at her who was already frowning at him. For some reason, it made him chuckle, 'At least now I know she cares for me.'

He winked at her to which she pursed her lips and turned away. His lips curled slightly on seeing her ignore him.

Freya pursed her lips, 'This idiot..'

She couldn't help but curse at him. 'Doesn't he ever care for his life or what?!'

She rubbed her forehead in distress as she knew that without his a.s.sistance, the reaper could have already demolished half of the kingdom.

'But still... Gah!' she sighed as she decided not to fret on it.

Jinha who had calmed down after venting for some time, returned to her side as he whistled approvingly, "Devil formation array... G.o.d! this guy even knows ancient arrays... just how powerful is he ?!"

A high screech soon distracted their thoughts as they saw the reaper repeatedly knock the s.h.i.+eld. It let out an anguished howl as it couldn't break their defence.

Lyndel frowned as she observed the s.h.i.+eld. She skimmed through the crowd to search for the master but couldn't find Usui.

Zeno attacked immediately by summoning a wave storm towards the reaper. It turned around, right in time to deflect the blow.

'Tch.. they sure have eyes all around their body.'

He battled against that one as the others focused on the death troop and the other reaper. For some reason, the other four reapers stood still like a statue as the death troop attacked them.

Numerous soldiers died and were later resurrected into their death troop. Even the soldiers affected by the troop were later revived to their side.

'If this goes on... not only would they steal my people they would also win the battle.'

Zeno descended in front of Freya as he summoned a huge spear made of wind, with its tip beaming in white and threw it towards reaper.

The reaper again blocked it and lifted his scythe which was clouded in dark energy to slash at him. Unfortunately, as it focused on Zeno, it forgot about the other members.

Right before Zeno attacked, he signalled his teammates to attack simultaneously. So Jinha, Hak, and Liz mustered their special attacks against the reaper.

The attacks fell on the reaper one after the other making it howl loudly before it shattered into dark powder and scattered in the air.

Lyndel narrowed her eyes as she watched the humans destroy her decoy with their measly power. Her lips lifted arrogantly as she peered at the masked girl who has yet to enter the battle.

On the other side, small cheers broke out as defeating one of the huge ones brought them to control. Energy surged through them as they attacked the troops with more confidence.

Zeno pushed his gla.s.ses as he said, "The soldiers won't be able to defeat them. They keep coming back."

"h.e.l.l yeah... it's like a zombie apocalypse." Jinha commented.

Freya nodded grimly as she watched her people getting struck by the scythe and being revived to their troop of death.

And, her soldiers who were fighting against the troop couldn't do much as the troop keeps getting up even though they were covered with wounds.

They even saw a headless body attacking a soldier !!!! It was really absurd!

"Maybe we are focusing on the wrong element. Let's s.h.i.+ft our focus to the reapers. I noticed that on killing the reaper, there was a decrease in power for the troop.

If you notice, the troop is moving slightly slower than they used to."

Jinha clapped his fist against his palm as he said, " Ha! the reapers are controlling the troop. They must be supplying their energy to keep the troop active. d.a.m.n! No wonder they stood like statues and let the troop attack our soldiers."

Hak agreed, "Our people won't be able to hold them for long as long as the reapers are alive."

Zeno nodded, " I think defeating the other four would be enough to make these death soldiers disappear."

Freya let out a deep breath as she narrowed her eyes at Lyndel who was arrogantly watching them.

She tilted her head and glanced at her friends, "So what are you guys waiting for? Take them out."

It was like they were waiting for that announcement. They grinned widely as they marched towards the field.
