He looked somewhat morose and there was a sad air about him as he had his head tilted up to the sky just letting the rain fall on him.
Dawn was quiet as she sat beside of him, wondering what was going on in his head. Whether he noticed her coming over or not she did not know but she was not sure whether or not to say anything.
Raven though broke the silence, with a soft voice, "Its strange… not knowing why I react to some things the way I do…"
"Is… something the matter?" Dawn was not sure how else to ask him what was going on in his head.
"It's a bit hard to explain, especially when I don't understand it, but the rain affects me deep inside." He let out a slightly frustrated huff, "I don't even know how to describe what it makes me feel."
Dawn gave his shoulder a pat, not sure how else to respond. Comforting people was not her forte, but for her one and only living friend (as she was counting Arrion as a friend though she had not always been the best friend towards him) she wanted to try. "Would… it help if you tried to explain?"
"Maybe," He took a deep breath, as if composing himself, "It makes me feel a little sad, but at the same time it gives me a strange feeling of peace. I feel… so many conflicting things and I don't understand why. It makes my blood stir but at the same time it makes me want to just curl up in a dry warm place or something. That is the best I can come up with about how I feel…"
He really did sound confused, though Raven normally had a bit of an edge of slight confusion or bewilderment in his voice. At the moment, though, it was more p.r.o.nounced than ever.
It gave her an insight into just how much it affected him that he was unable to remember his past. Not even knowing why simple things, like rain, affected him in certain ways.
She was not sure how to comfort him, and sat there for a while in silence before remembering something Arrion had done whenever she was visibly upset, which was not often. She had actually kinda liked it, and thinking back on it, it made her feel warm inside before the realization that he would never again do so made her insides freeze over.
So, she pulled Raven into a slight, entirely awkward hug. Arrion had been better at it, but she hoped the gesture would be enough.
As Raven froze in utter bewilderment, she spoke in the most comforting tone she could manage, "Don't worry, you've been slowly recovering your memory, right? So, I am sure you will understand yourself soon enough."
He gave her a slight smile, "Thank you. Somehow that does make me feel somewhat better."
"Good." She pulled back her arm and sat back hoping that he really did feel better. Because she had no idea what else to say to comfort him.
Raven had fallen quiet but she was pretty sure he was just trying to listen to their surroundings. She was quiet as well, knowing that without his eyesight he had to rely on his other senses, especially hearing, in order to keep watch.
Though that actually might make him a good watchman. At night, hearing was often the best sense for detecting others presence. Sight was easy to have mitigated by a campfire and even if one did get used to the dark there was only so much one could do without any light. Especially for humans like them.
At least she a.s.sumed Raven was human. He was certainly humanoid and looked human, without those pointed ears that announced elves and half-elves. Honestly though, Raven was a bit hard to tell his race entirely. His hair definitely had something off about it. It seemed so much like feathers, like some sort of hybrid of feathers and hair almost. It was hard to describe in words as she had never seen anything to liken it to.
But she had never heard of anyone with that before. So, it might just be an oddity to himself. Maybe he was a sorcerer or something. They often had slightly odd appearances. Though he did not seem to have any magic, and if he was a sorcerer then even if he had lost his memories, he would probably still be accidentally casting spells.
Of course, she was not an expert in magic. But she had once asked someone the difference between a wizard and a sorcerer and it sounded like sorcerers would not forget their spells very easily. And wizards did not have bloodlines altering their racial features either.
