It was slow crossing the desert. Thankfully they managed to find an oasis on the second night of traveling across it. As it was near dawn, they just made camp there.

As most of the others were setting up their shelters and getting a meal ready, Dawn looked out across the desert trying to figure out how much bigger it was. She chafed at the idea of being here much longer.

She glanced at her companions, noticing that they all seemed rather exhausted and a bit cold even. But they were surviving and so far the desert was merely an inconvenience.

Raven had taken the five kids into the shade of one of the palm trees and was entertaining them with a story that he most likely just made up on the spot. At least she had never heard it before from the few s.n.a.t.c.hes she caught from it.

All five kids had grown extremely fond of Raven and they would bother him constantly whenever they were no longer moving. This was good though as it meant that he could keep watch over them better if they would come to him on their own rather then him having to follow them around.

She turned back to look out at the desert and her breath caught at a sight she could see in the distance. Wheeling through the air, and at each other's throats, were two dragons. It cut a beautiful sight, albeit a very dangerous one. Dragons were some of the most dangerous creatures in the world and though it was not often talked about it was because of the fact that most dragons lived in this particular land that the kingdoms were wary of Nix'Ryl. Of course there were other reasons and dragons were notorious for being territorial so they would not normally band together.

Dawn had never seen a dragon close up, and she had not even seen one afar in some time. She knew very little about the creatures other than the common knowledge that they were highly varied in abilities and temperaments. And that there were both stronger dragons and weaker ones as well.

She made a mental note to stay away from where the humongous beasts were fighting and made plans of s.h.i.+rking towards the other direction.

"Wow!" She suddenly heard Vixen's voice, "I've never seen dragons before! ….They won't come over here right?" The nervousness in the woman's voice was impossible to miss.

Dawn nearly jumped though as she had not heard the woman walk over. She was not actually talking to Dawn though, but to Lowks who was also peering at the dragons.

Lowks shrugged, "Not my jurisdiction." He left the now terrified woman and went to go help his sister with one of the tents.

Dawn patted the rogue on the shoulder and also left. Vixen stood there for a moment, looking stiff and just a little terrified.

Dawn felt like the spot was fairly safe. Those dragons were far enough away that the likelihood of them actually coming over here was not too high. Though it would be a good idea to keep an eye on them. She would prefer not to ever run into a dragon. She did not want to find out if she was strong enough to actually fight against one of the creatures.

With their number they probably could take on a dragon, just it was very dangerous and would not get much done… not to mention it was a good way to lose some of their number. She shook the thoughts away.

Dinner was fairly simple. Bread that was stale, and a stew that really could have used some seasoning. But it was filling and soon they were getting their rest for the day.

Dawn was not really quite used to trying to sleep when the sun was climbing in the sky. But she managed to get sleep before her watch came.

Raven looked distraught when she joined him for their watch. Worn out really though he had looked fine earlier. Dawn was not sure what was wrong and wondered to herself if he needed to talk.

When she asked he shook his head no, and then changed the subject to the children. He sounded fond of them as he talked and Dawn smiled though she was still worried by the look of pain on his face.
