Rhis: The Alternative Story 5 Rarity

"ACHOOO!" came the sneeze from the white-haired 14 yr old as he took refuge underneath a large tree.

It's been a week since he departed from the villagers. To his surprise goblin meat was edible. It was honestly a bit tough but still edible. Some of the woman got together to pack up plenty of dry goblin meat and some water when it was time to send s.h.i.+ro off. At this point s.h.i.+ro was getting tired of goblin meat.

Listening to the pitter-patter of gentle rainfall, he couldn't help but curse the fact that he hadn't actually met anyone yet since he departed. The only thing he's seen so far were other monsters on the road and he enjoyed fighting them for experience.

"System, how long until I reach the dock town?" s.h.i.+ro asked mainly because he wanted to have a conversation and the silence always spooked him

[Judging from Host's current speed, System estimates roughly 2 weeks on foot] the system responded with calculations

Apparently they were in the western continent. While there were indeed kingdoms in the west the s.h.i.+nigami could visit, they were incredibly far away from him. s.h.i.+ro decided to try and get to any kingdom or empire to steal as much weapons as he could to level up Hyorinmaru. Did he mind being a thief? Not really, while s.h.i.+ro isn't necessarily a bad guy in the sense that he won't just go around killing people for c.r.a.p like a ruthless MC. He doesn't mind having fun and enjoying the thrill of a heist.

"By the way, has Ray made any progress about that food ticket?" s.h.i.+ro asked hoping he could finally stop eating goblin meat.

[Wait one moment...] the voice responded

[Food and Drink 'Rations' silver ticket acquired] the system informed causing s.h.i.+ro to raise a brow

"Didn't he say that it was a platinum ticket?" the s.h.i.+nigami asked remembering his conversation with Ray

[Ray sends his regards and says: Apologies, my request was denied. However I was still able to get a Silver ticket, so better than nothing.] it said relaying the message

"So what's the difference between Silver and Platinum?" he asked unsure of the difference

[Platinum ticket encompa.s.ses every possible Food and Drink in the multiverse including legendary creatures. Silver ticket does not include that so Host would be unable to get Fafnir's blood like Host's counterpart. Food and drinks from Host's original world is possible though."] the system explained with the small infodump

"Oh sweet, can I get a turkey sandwich with some water then?" s.h.i.+ro asked until a water bottle and sandwich in a bag appeared infront of him.

As the s.h.i.+nigami was about to take a bite from his food, he was forced to duck as he heard an odd sound through the rainfall. The tree that he was sitting under exploded into flames as s.h.i.+ro readied himself as he looked for his ranged enemy.

He saw the figure through the rain, he was draped with what looked to be a brown duster. The top of his face was covered in the shadow of his fedora. But what surprised him was

"IS THAT A GUN!?" he exclaimed as the single barrel rifle in his hand glowed a slight blue before the gunner shot out a blue blast of mana at him

The s.h.i.+nigami backed away and escaped in the foliage, using the rain to m.u.f.fle his sound as he jumped ontop of a tree. s.h.i.+ro wasn't confident in deflecting bullets much less magic shots. He wasn't some kind of badda.s.s samurai! He was still new at this c.r.a.p.

As he waited, hoping for the gunner to show himself. s.h.i.+ro continued to steel his nerves, staying patient until the right moment. Unfortunately for him, the man wasn't going to fall for it as a shot rang out. The tree he was perched on began to collapse down as the s.h.i.+nigami was forced to jump off.

Landing on the ground, s.h.i.+ro found his leg encased in ice. An ice bullet perhaps? Not enough time to think, the s.h.i.+nigami broke the ice off the ground in a surprising feat of strength and ran with a frozen foot.

Getting to safety behind another tree, the s.h.i.+nigami bashed the frozen foot with the back of his blade. The moment he freed himself, the sound of shattering Ice rang out prompting a shot to go right through the tree. The bullet this time was red, the pain literally shocked s.h.i.+ro as his wound closed up. The bullet went right through his chest.

Tired of being on the run, the 14 yr old stepped out into the open and charged at the man pumping as much mana as he could into his legs. Perhaps the old bandit was surprised of the kid's decision, but he fired out a shot after a moment of hesitation. s.h.i.+ro opted to take the pain on his shoulder as the magical red bullet pierced through it. While that happened, the s.h.i.+nigami threw out his katana towards the a.s.sailant.

The katana was deflected by the man's rifle. However the man became stunned as the s.h.i.+nigami closed the distance and held the same katana he just smacked away in his hands again. s.h.i.+ro stabbed straight through the man's heart, leaving no chance for the gunner to survive.

"What the f.u.c.k, why are there guns in this world?" s.h.i.+ro asked as he held up the bandit's rifle in his hands to inspect

One particular hero was what Host could call a 'Gun nut' named Kiri. She revolutionized the world as she introduced fire arms. The mages in particular took great interest in the technology. Now magical fire arms that do not require bullets, but instead use mana are common in the middle continent.] the system informed with it's infodump on history

"Well, that's cool I guess. Still annoying, if I wasn't a cheat guy with regen I'd be dead from the blood loss." s.h.i.+ro said as he appraised the firearm

"No wonder it hurt so much, if that guy landed an explosive shot on me instead of that penetrating bullet...." s.h.i.+ro shuddered as he imagined his body completely exploding with no chance of regeneration

[Will host use the rifle?] the system asked

Shaking his head "Nah, if it's this good then... how much would it level Hyorinmaru up?" s.h.i.+ro asked with a smirk. Touching the rifle with the tip of his blade it turned into pink motes of light absorbed into the katana.

the s.h.i.+nigami just had a wide smile as he listened to the melodious sounds of his weapon leveling up.

Checking his katana he was satisfied with the upgrade.

[Raritys go from: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Unique, Epic, Legendary and G.o.d. Common equipment are generally made from basic materials. Uncommon equipment are made from slightly rarer materials, Rare equipment generally are simply made from some of the rarest materials.

Unique equipment generally have a type of enchantment or magical reinforcement placed onto them through a mult.i.tude of means. Epic equipment have even stronger enchantments and reinforcements placed onto them and can possibly become growth equipment. Legendary equipment are reinforced not only with magic, but also divine energy siphoned from priests or saints and can also become growth equipment. G.o.d ranked equipment are less than 10 in this world, they require an actual G.o.d or multiple G.o.ds to a.s.sist create in the process. Host's weapon is the only G.o.d ranked growth equipment] The system explained causing the s.h.i.+nigami to get dizzy from the infodump

"I think I have a headache now" s.h.i.+ro complained rubbing his temples
