THE CEO'S HIDDEN GEM 24 Cafeteria

Henrietta woke up immediately when the alarm clock went off,she rushed to the bathroom took a quick shower,changed into office wear . After getting out of the bathroom,she realized Jeremy was still sleeping so she tip toed ,opened the door and went down stairs for breakfast,she managed to eat a little since she had no appet.i.te.

She boarded the car and left for work, as usual she arrived earlier than all the employees,she continued doing her work diligently.When Henrietta woke up of cause Jeremy pretended to be sleeping,after he was sure she had gone for work,he also prepared himself to leave,he was amazed when he discovered,despite the hards.h.i.+ps they were facing Henrietta managed to go to work.

When Jeremy arrived in his office,he made a phone call to the financial department, Henrietta was nearby so she answered the call.

"Financial department,Henrietta speaking , how may I help you?"

"Hand over the phone to the manager." A gravelly sound was heard from the other end,no one was on the phone other than Jeremy.Feebly Henrietta signalled Junita to pick the call.

"Good morning,Junita speaking,how may I help you?"

"How is your new a.s.sistant?"Jeremy asked.

"She is very competent and hardworking sir".Junita responded nervously.This was the first time the CEO talked to her personally.

"Take very good care of her,I hope you understand and this call is private and confidential." Before Junita responded the call was disconnected abruptly.Henrietta noticed Junita's discomfort,she decided to ask.

"Madam,I hope all is well." Henrietta asked curiously.

"Yes all is well, if you find anything you are not sure of, don't hesitate to ask,I'm at your beck and call,we need to work harder to complete this project successfully." Junita answered.

During lunch time,Henrietta was extremely hungry,she decided to go to the company's cafeteria for lunch,she had been informed , all staffs could eat there and the bill could be settled from their salaries but if you had cash or card you could still receive food of your choice from the menu provided.So Henrietta walked to the cafeteria filled her personal details and handed them over to the waiter,when the waiter came back he informed her she was not allowed to eat from the cafeteria.Junita was sitting nearby and she heard all the waiter had said.

She walked over to the waiter and told him that Henrietta was the employee of the company so she was ent.i.tled to the food from the cafeteria.As Junita was speaking she saw Jeremy approaching them and automatically she knew, someone was going to lose his job.All the employees who were eating , they all stood up when they saw Jeremy,Henrietta also stood up to show her respect.Jeremy took a seat nearby Henrietta and sat down.Most of the employees who had finished eating, they left the cafeteria immediately and all those who had just received their food they carried the food and left the cafeteria immediately.Junita instinctively also left.The whole cafe was left with only two people.

"Have you ordered your food?" Jeremy asked.

"Yes and I have finished eating." Henrietta answered.

Jeremy knew she was not speaking the truth,because,he had sent a message to the cafe not to serve her, he had already ordered food for the two of them.

"I'm going to work,lunch break is almost over." Henrietta said this while standing up.Jeremy was very quick as he pulled her hand in trying to stop her from leaving.That act agitated Henrietta.

"What are you doing,let go off my hand,I don't want people to continue gossiping about me,every one thinks I got my job through back door,you are not helping me at all ,instead you want people to misunderstand me." Henrietta lamented angrily.Jeremy was so hurt with what Henrietta said so he let her hand free and walked out of the cafeteria,Junita who had pretended to have left witnessed and heard every thing.
