'What...?' Eddra was in a state of shock, standing still on his position, he froze from the sudden appearance of a bigger plate right before him.

Bringing his index finger and his thumb, Eddra looked to the standing figure in front of the door right through the translucent plate. Although everything was what caused his confusion, Eddra started to have a grasp of the occurrence to him.

"... Gale, are you not thinking of retiring anytime soon?" he asked the old butler who he knew was in his mid-50s. He had served his family for a very long time of which was the reason why he had no wife nor a kid.

The figure of his butler moved closer to his, lessening their distance to each other. Gale brought his hands on his master's shoulder to fix his standing posture, unknowingly pervading the translucent plate. "I... have thought about pa.s.sing my resignation letter, however, I do not see myself actually retiring."

No. Eddra was sure the butler would retire within 2 years. Maybe Gale was still doubting as of today but Eddra was definitely sure Gale sent his resignation letter, at least that was what his mother said to the letter.

"Milord--"

Cutting off the man, he asked the same question he gave to his younger sister, "Wait. Gale, can you see something floating on our faces?"

After hearing his word, the butler squinted his eyes as if he was trying to look for something his master told him floating before them. However, when he saw nothing but simply air, he opened his mouth and closed it then he looked to Eddra with a serious face.

With Gale's expression, Eddra knew that Gale was about to tell him something and only chose to keep it to himself. The butler definitely thought of an insult but refused to say so. "Hey. Whatever you are thinking-- I am not, okay?" Eddra told him in advance. It was now clear to him that he was really the only one who could see the floating plate.

"Milord... So, you are not... okay? Did you perhaps b.u.mp your head while you are sleeping? Well, it was something common whenever I came to wake up in the morning when you were young, Lord Eddra." Gale teased, making his way to his master's closet.

's.h.i.+t. I might still be dreaming.' Eddra tried to convince himself that the occurrence was a dream. After all, he once dreamed about his childhood before he woke up from the same place while he was in rest.

Unable to process everything in his head, Eddra immediately gave a conclusion to wake himself from the dream. A slap would certainly wake the s.h.i.+t out of him.

Gale was caught thunderstruck to what his master did. The loud smack echoed through the room of which made Gale turn his head to its direction where it came. "... Milord. You should have told me when you want to slap your face. I can do it for you since I am your attendant."

"f.u.c.k! Aren't I dreaming? Then why did I feel pain?!" Eddra's shouts covered the entire room.

"Do you want me to slap you then? I might be able to wake you up, Milord." Eddra glared to the butler who was obviously enjoying while watching his acts.

Sigh. Eddra went back to the window where he saw the maids who were currently taking out the plates. If this was a dream then, he could just do what the plate was telling him. After all, it was he who would embarra.s.s himself today on his birthday.

"Stop rummaging the closet." The plate told him that he would also attain a reward, and Eddra was curious to the first one, although the second one was absolutely just some trash.

Gale stopped after his words. "Order the maids to bring the table inside. I have changed my mind, and probably the cloud would pour heavy rain."

"Yes, Milord," the butler answered in a second, as if it was what he wanted to hear from him, and then left his room after bowing.

'Argh. What is this [System], anyway?' Eddra created a sound from his tongue clicking while he read the contents of the plate once more, noticing the time duration lessen.
