Xenarra: The Dragon Throne 11 Demons Part Ii

The demon saw me coming. It turned towards me, getting itself ready to receive my attack. The weapon in its hand was dripping with the blood of the people it had killed including Jason. Once I was within stabbing range, I stabbed at its neck. It just smacked my blade away like it was nothing. Then related with a swing of its weapon. Seeing that if I received the attack it would cleave me in two. I hurrendly rolled to the side.

Thawk. Its weapon smashed into the ground. It tried to pull it out but it was stuck. Seeing my chance I slashed at its exposed neck.

I heard the lovely sound of a sword tearing into flesh. But it wasn't its neck. It had sacrificed its arm to save its own life. It let out a groan at the pain. Following the training, I twisted the sword and pulled it out, mangling the arm in the process. This made it so that its seemingly dominant arm was unusable. Once the sword was removed, I moved back to give myself some s.p.a.ce to react.

With its good arm the demon moved trying to grab me. I just managed to get under its arm but my helmet was sc.r.a.pped off in the process. Seeing that I had another opening. I attacked as quickly as possible with a stab of the sword. I was too close at this point for it to dodge. The sword went straight through the demon. Taking out my sword the same way as before. The demon was left howling in pain on the ground. Fearing it to be able to attack me again. I put the sword straight through the head of the demon killing it at long last.

"That was for you Jason, rest well brother."

After killing the demon I looked around up. We were losing completely. The commanders were nowhere to be seen. So they had died or ran off leaving us behind. I tried to see if I could find any of my other squad mates but all I could see was Jax left standing. He was with some other people I didn't recognise fighting against a lone demon. I raced off trying to help them.

I dogged various other fights seeing the now all to numbing sight of people being ripped apart and killed by the demons. The battlefield was riddled with corpses at this point, of mainly our side but there were demons that had been killed as well. As I arrived near Jax and the group he was with. The demon seemed to be going berserk. Its eyes were glowing a brighter red and its muscles looked like they were beginning to swell up. Though while it was going into this state, I saw that it seemed like it wasn't reacting too much at all.

Thinking about the previous fight I had just had. I decided that quick stabbing attacks would be more useful to me. So seeing a spear laying on the ground next to a dead legionnaire. I quickly picked up the spear. The spear being better at stabbing as well as being longer, I thought would make a more useful weapon.

The other people around me and Jax attacked to act as a sort of distraction but would go for a killing move if they saw an opportunity. Seeing my chance as the demon blocked the thirteenth blow made against it. I quickly lashed out with the spear going straight for the head to end the fight quickly. Much to my suprise the blow connected, killing the demon instantly.

Jax looked at me covered in blood. "Thanks Adoh, We would all probably be dead by now if it wasn't for you."

"It's fine, you are my brother after all. Everyone else a friend of my brother is a friend of mine." I had to talk rather loud to be heard over the screams and war cries. "I think we should head back to the rock outcropping that we pa.s.sed. It would be easier to defend and hold out until reinforcements arrive." Everyone nodded at my suggestion. So we all began to run away from the battlefield and to the rocks.

Seeing us leave. A few of the other legionnaires decided that it would be best to follow us. Looking back there were around eighteen of us. The rest of our side left on the battlefield was slowly being killed off as most if not all were isolated from everyone else.

There were also some demons that had already seen us fleeing and had decided it seemed that it would be better to chase us. "Hurry up, they're coming." Then much to my horror Jax who was next to me was. .h.i.t in the back by a spear. It went straight through him.

I stopped at his body. "Jax….why….why did this happen….we were only meant to find some supplies...why…..WHY!" A couple of the others who were pa.s.sing me decided that I shouldn't be left behind. They grabbed me by my arms and started to drag me away. I struggled, kicked and screamed. Not wanting to leave the last of my brothers in arms. "Let me die with him, leave meeeee!"

They were not hearing any of my demands and dragged me the whole distance to the rocks. Beginning to calm down, I looked around. There were only nine of us in the end who had made it.

The demons had now finished off the last people on the battlefield and were walking towards us like we had no chance of escape. It was like we were all already dead men. It sounded so odd though. It was silent. None of us made any noise. The screams had all stopped. Not even the advancing demons were making any noise. It was kind of beautiful in a way. We had a moment of silence before we were all going to be killed. We had run here only to die later than anyone else.

Looking around for a weapon to fight with as I had left the spear that I was using on Jax's body. Someone seeing me who had somehow managed to keep both their spear and sword. "I saw how you killed that demon on your own. Have my sword." The others around us heard this. Everyone looked at me with respect. Then as if it was all pre planned, bent down on their knees to me. "We would like you to lead us in our final moments!" They all yelled this out in one voice. I was stunned. "Please get up…" They all looked at me with gazes of respect and loyalty. I felt undeserving of their looks. Then looked behind me seeing all the people that had died. Leo, Jason, Jax and the others too.

"I say we charge out. Let us die as heroes! Let us avenge our comrades! Who is with me!" With a mighty roar all nine of us charged out against the demons.
