After finis.h.i.+ng breakfast Caesar stepped out of the manor and headed towards the town. Along the way Caesar was stroking his chin while wondering where the blacksmiths and engineers were. Caesar soon spotted a middle aged woman hanging her clothes to dry.
"Excuse me madam, do you perhaps know where the best blacksmiths and engineers are?"
The middle aged woman turned around and saw Caesar there, surprise flashed in her eyes and then joy.
"Of course marshall, there's a blacksmith named Roy a few streets ahead and take a right once you hit the giant tree, there's also an engineer that happens to be neighbors with Roy"
Caesar lifted the madam's hand and kissed the back of her hand.
"Thank you milady" Caesar said slyy
"I-it is m-my pleasure" The woman started stuttering due to embara.s.sment, her face was as red as a tomato
Caesar walked away while thinking "It sure is fun teasing the women in this world" he chuckled to himself. After following the direction the lady gave him he soon arrived in front of a shop that had a gigantic anvil engraved as the sign board.
"This should be it" Caesar muttered as he walked in and looked around. large amounts of weapons decorated the walls, swords, hammers, bows, s.h.i.+elds, maces. They all looked very durable and well crafted, the room was a little dark and full of dust.
"Clang"
"Clang"
The sound of hammering entered into Caesars ears, Caesar followed the sound and saw a very muscular man hammering down on something, the man had a large red beard and his eyes were covered by some sort of goggles. Caesar approached the counter where the man was hammering and patiently waited for him to be done.
After about 30 minutes of waiting the blacksmith finally stopped hammering and tore his goggles off, he looked towards Caesar and asked
"Do you want something?" The man's voice was very rough and deep
Caesar offered a handshake with a smile "My name is Mephesto Pheles" Caesar said in a kind tone.
The blacksmith shook Caesars hands and replied "the names roy, what does my lowly shop have to offer a n.o.ble?"
"I need lots of custom made arrows, big ones"
"That seems simple enough, how big are we talking?"
"I need four meter long bolts and I want the arrow heads to be nice and durable.."
"F-four meters?!?!? What do you need with such huge arrows"
"I will tell you once they are created, I need fifty of them"
"F-fifty of them? It will take me a week to make all of those"
"That will do, how much will that cost me?"
Roy did some quick calculation in his head and looked towards Caesar
"That will be 5 gold coins"
Caesar grabbed 5 gold coins from his chest pocket and handed them to Roy, "this is the down payment, I will give you 5 more when they are complete"
Roy begrudgingly grabbed the gold from Caesars hands while muttering "d.a.m.n n.o.bles, endless pockets"
Caesar walked out of the blacksmith shop leaving a dumbfounded roy and walked towards the neighboring house. Caesar entered through the door and saw an old man with slicked white hair and a well groomed goatee. He had a monocle on his right eye as he was peering down on some unknown object.
Caesar walked to the counter and cleared his throat to gain the man's attention "ahem" The man finally looked at Caesar and squinted his eyes.
"What's a n.o.ble doing in my shop"
Caesar put his hand forward and offered a handshake "My name is Mephesto Pheles, pleasure to meet you"
"The names danny but people around here call me oak" danny returned the handshake and smiled.
"h.e.l.lo danny, the thing i'm here for isn't actually in your shop but I need you to make it"
Danny opened his eyes in surprise
"What do you need made?"
Caesar grabbed a scroll from his pocket and opened it up on Danny's desk… Caesar flattened the scroll on the corners and explained, "this is the blueprint I have for what I call a ballista"
Danny looked at the ill.u.s.tration on paper and was shocked… "I don't understand how this works" Danny couldn't help but say sadly
Caesar smiled and explained " by using two levers with torsion springs The springs consisting of several loops of twisted skeins, it will use the tension of the strings to fire a bolt at astonis.h.i.+ng speeds" Caesar explained while pointing to the ill.u.s.tration
Danny looked dumbfounded at Caesar before he finally regained his composure "What about when you fire it, won't you need a large amount of physical strength"
Caesar smiled and replied patiently "That is what the lever is for, not to mention the knights practice inner strength"
Danny started nodding with realization, repeatedly looking at Caesar and the blueprint he finally opened his mouth "I can probably finish one in a week"
"Excellent, remember danny this weapon is my trade mark… Don't create it for someone else or show the blueprint to anyone without my permission"
"I understand" Danny said solemnly, he knew the price of such weaponry
Caesar handed Danny 5 gold coins "This is the down payment, I will give you 5 more when the ballista is complete"
Danny nodded his head and immediately started getting to work, seeing this Caesar smiled and started walking out of the shop. "The first step is completed without any difficulty, I hope both Roy and Danny don't mess up"
As caesar was walking down a street he heard a merchant's yell…
"Come get your slaves, buy 1 and get a free slave seal"
In Caesar's past life slavery was looked down upon, however "new world new rules I suppose" Caesar thought as he walked inside the slave shop.
A plethora of different slaves were locked in cages, from elves to beast women. Even dwarves were here. A greasy obese man soon came to Caesar while rubbing his hands smiling ear to ear.
"Do you have a specific 'taste' lord?" The obese man said in a sly way emphasizing 'taste'
"Yes, do you have any intelligent slaves that have not been touched before?"
The obese man was surprised for a second but soon responded "yes, yes, we have around three that fit those conditions would you like to see them?"
"Yes, Bring them to me" Caesar said quickly, he didn't want to stay here any longer than he needed too.
After waiting about 5 minutes the man came back to Caesar and three people followed behind him, one was a very slim elf lady, one was a girl that had dog ears and the third was a very slim male.
"These are the only three that can read and write amongst our slaves" The obese man said with pride.
"How much?"
"Hehe, 10 gold coins for all three"
"10? How about 5, all three of them are not in good shape and look as though they could die of hunger any moment"
"Tsk, fine 5 coins"
Caesar handed him 5 gold coins, he didn't have any more than that left in his pockets. After handing the fat man the coins he was given three seals.
"Heh, these seals make it so they can never betray you… If they do their collars will explode"
"I see, thank you"
Caesar walked out of the slave market and the three slaves naturally followed, they didn't talk much nor did they seem to have much life to them. Caesar brought them out of the castle gates and into a forest. After bringing them far enough into the forest Caesar turned around to face them.
"I have a preposition, I am forming a business and am in dire need of staff. I will pay you an hourly wage"
The three slaves looked at Caesar suspiciously, suddenly the elven girl spoke up
"Why would you pay us? We are your slaves"
"I have no need for slaves, I need subordinates" Caesar replied back
"Do you really expect us to believe such a nice person exists in this world" the slim man finally spoke up at this time
"Do not misunderstand, you three are useful to me. If I was a nice person I would have bought everyone in that slave market however I did not"
Caesar stepped forward and placed his hand on the collars that trapped their necks.
"Crack"
Their stone collars soon crumbled into pieces and fell to the ground, Caesar then looked towards them and said "If you don't wish to follow me you can leave"
Caesar turned away and started walking away however he had a sly grin on his face while he was walking.
Soon three pairs of footsteps could be heard behind Caesar, he laughed inside and slowly walked back towards the kingdom.
After reaching the kingdom Caesar walked inside of a tailor shop and approached the counter. The clerk looked up at him and asked
"What would you like to buy"
"I need three pairs of black suits of their size" Caesar pointed with his slim finger towards the three that were behind him.
The clerk nodded her head and walked over to the three to measure them… After getting their measurements she walked behind the table and said
"That will be 3 gold coins"
Caesar smiled and put the badge of the pheles family on her table "please deliver these clothes to my household when you are done and my butler will surely pay you"
The clerk nodded her head and stashed the badge in her pocket.
Caesar walked out of the tailor shop and headed towards his manor, "im going to need much more subordinates then I already have, im also going to need to train these three" thought to himself as he walked through the familiar streets to his manor.
Caesar pa.s.sed through the front gates and entered into his house, he walked up the stairs leading the three to their respective rooms. As he was about to pick their rooms he suddenly gained a hint of realization and looked towards them in a serious matter.
"What were your names again?"
"My name is felicia" The elf opened up first
"Im ally" the dog eared girl spoke up
"My name is Arwin"
"Good, well these three rooms are going to be your home for now. Business starts in one week so you better prepare yourself"
Caesar quickly walked down the stairs and happen to pa.s.s by Sebastian on the way "Sebastian we have three guests in the rooms adjacent to mine, treat them nicely"
"As you wish young master" Sebastian respectfully bowed
Caesar hurried down the steps and walked outside of the manor, Caesar fangs starting growing and his eyes turned even more scarlet. Caesar was feeling something that he hasn't felt since entering this world 'l.u.s.t' "Is it due to the evolution?" Caesar couldn't help but wonder
"Gasp"
Caesar was gasping for breath while standing outside the doors of the manor soon he heard footsteps and looked up.
"Long time no see Mephesto, I really wanted to thank you for offering to lead those soldiers… My brother happened to be one of the candidates"
-silence-
Caesar looked up and said with a very faint grin "long time no see Anastasia"
