The female doctor took the measures of my naked body, taking notes in a piece of glowing gla.s.s that reacts to her touch, changing what is reflected in the surface. She indicates me to sit down in a chair that's nearby.
Even the chair looks expensive, made of metal and cloth and is quite comfortable to be sat on. Still naked, I sit on the chair and observe the concentrated doctor fiddling with the gla.s.s pane. Black smooth hair, pale white skin and blue eyes.
I can't tell from where she is, similar to Vladmir and the other women doctors, they don't look like any human from the nearby kingdoms. Vladmir is an exception, he looks like a human from the near kingdom, but he looks like a half with someone from the nearby kingdom with someone from the same place as these people.
Her eyes have the corners pulled, make her gaze sharp with a rounder face than usual. If I focus, I can notice a faint tinge of yellow in her skin. Her figure is also slim, and she isn't tall, being a whole head smaller than me.
After a few seconds, she suddenly turns to me, smiling brightly.
(medic): "Alright Miss Luna, I'm done with the basic diagnostics. As soon as your new clothes arrive, we will start some tests, ok?"
(Luna): "Y-yes."
I said, a bit nervous for being so blatantly naked for so long and being touched all over. Fortunately, the other party is a woman. She noticed me nervousness, smiling gently. I might be a warrior, but I'm still a maiden at heart. I have no experience in love.
(Yuna): "I should introduce myself. I'm Taka Yuna, one of the medics under the Glorious Armada. It's nice to meet you."
She said, extending her hand. I look at her surprised for a second before smiling and holding her hand.
(Luna): "I'm Luna, first daughter of Wolf, leader of the beastman."
We shook hands briefly.
(Yuna): "Well then, it may seem inconsiderate of my part to tell this now that you have been forced to come to the Glorious Armada, but you don't have to worry about anything. The Supreme Commander only wants to make sure nothing bad will happen."
I'm caught by surprise by what she said. Indeed, I'm worried that something bad might happen. After all, we are a small group of beastman in a human settlement.
(Yuna): "I also have to say that you don't have to worry about being hara.s.sed here. Not only we welcome anyone from any race, we also received orders to treat you guys as people from our own."
I blinked, surprised by her sharp comment right on my worries.
(Luna): "That doesn't change the fact that we are from different species…"
I said, barely holding a mean comment about human race. Yuna smiled again, still looking at me as if she saw right through me once again.
(Yuna): "Even so, you don't have to worry. We received orders, and to all the soldiers of the Glorious Armada, the orders of the Supreme Commander are the absolute truth."
She spoke, touching her chest above her heart, her face blus.h.i.+ng slightly and an expression of feverish pa.s.sion plastered on it. This face… is she in love or obsessed?
(Yuna): "Therefore, you have no need to worry about internal strife with the troops. The place that you will be safest is within the reach of the Commander's arms."
She said. This woman… she is dangerous.
(Suna's POV, in a nearby room)
After the medic took my measures. Gave me new clothes and instructed me in a few exercises with some "machines" as she called it, she is now guiding me through the metal corridors.
(medic): "Well then, Suna, I'll now take you to the mess hall of this building. We will have some other soldiers eating, but you don't have to worry about anything."
I nod, following her closely. As I walk, I fumble around with my new clothes. A simple s.h.i.+rt that is clearly of high quality, as well pure white what should be almost impossible to do. The pants are blue, and made of a material that I cannot identify.
I also received shoes, or as the medic calls it, sneakers, that are comfortable to walk in. also, there is the underwear, that not only is pretty and frilly, but also covers the chest and is extremely comfortable as well.
I though that meeting humans again would be… a worse experience than right now. I know that it was my choice, but still, I did not expect to be welcomed the way we were. Although the way that we were treated wasn't that warm, it was far from hostile.
I can still not say if these humans will treat us as enemies, therefore I don't know if they are a danger to the beastman, even with the present contract between our cities. However, at the moment, they don't seem aggressive to us. I have to keep my guard up.
The others should be fine as well, they wouldn't do anything so soon. As she guides me, a delicious smell fills my nose. Meat, and spices. Also, noises of several people talking. I salivate a little as the smell of food tickles my sensitive nose.
Is this smell the food that they will give us? W-well, it wouldn't be bad to take a bite…
(Vladmir's POV)
I look at the surveillance footage as the beastman eat with gusto in the mess hall of one of the medical and residential facilities that I use to keep some of the soldiers and most of the medics instead of the common supply depots.
The beastman seem wary of our surrounding, but they will get used soon enough as they stick around. After all, I made sure to order all my troops to make them feel welcome and part of this society.
I touch the tablet a few times, sending some orders and putting on order some production of some products to sell to the beastman people. Wolf chose to return to his city, so I sent him in one of the medivacs escorted by some Vikings.
He will arrive safely at his hometown in a few minutes. Meanwhile, as the beastman are introduced slowly to the base, I went back to my own command center to advance my military might. After all, I figured out a way to cloak myself a few days ago.
I do not have enough power to cloak myself purely by psionic energy, like the Protoss do. Therefore, I will take the terran approach. That means, I'll use the a.s.sistance of technology instead of pure power. After all, I have to learn cloaking to train ghosts and specters.
Unfortunately, my scientists are bad with technology using light, like bending it. However, that doesn't stop me from helping them to create a sensitive psionic device that can react to my powers and achieve what I want.
And so, I now come to the current situation. I give the tablet to one of the doctors (all females) that is serving me while the other ones work on the computers and calculations of my new suit. Yes, a suit. I took the literal ghost approach, I'm now working with my science team, that double as doctors, on a light sensitive suit that can enhance my psionic capabilities.
I'm sitting on a chair dressed in the suit, with several cables connected to my back as they calibrate the suit. I also lightly stimulate my psionic energies, allowing it to flow through the suit and facilitating the calibration.
(Lyssa): "The energy levels are stable, the light is reacting as planned. Everything seems to be going the way you planned, commander."
She says seriously, touching the tablet in her hands while focused. I nod.
(Vladmir): "Well then, shall I start? Are we ready to finish the preparations?"
She nods seriously and looks at one of the docs in one of the computers. Taking her cue perceftly, she types a command and the cables connected to my back release with the sound of steam leaking as the air pressure pushes them out of their sockets.
I get up and breathe in deeply, the doctors observing me anxiously under the artificial lights. The reason why we are able to see with our eyes… the light hits objects and reflects, returning to our eyes.
That is why we can see, and that is that transparent things, like gla.s.s, let the light go through. However, the solution for me is not to let the light go through me. It is to let it go around me. I close my eyes, focusing my psionic powers.
This suit does wonders. I can feel the light particles around me. Guiding them is extremely easy this way. I lead them around me, and my figure disappears from the eyes of the surprised doctors. They applaud as I return and congratulate me and themselves for the achievement. My smile turns wider when the notification appears in front of my eyes.
[You have achieved the conditions to build the Ghost Academy and train ghosts.]
