Chapter 71: How Bold

“Sherlock… ” Pairs of eyes, floating in the dark castle hall, opened.

They scanned the hall and finally focused on the extinguished oil lamp that had been smashed to pieces on the ground.

“Its life lamp has been extinguished… ”

“What happened?! ” Someone asked.

“Sherlock… didn’t he go after the escaped Egyptian Cat G.o.ddess? ” A ragged-looking marionette doll appeared on one of the chairs in the hall.

The marionette doll was similar to the kind used in circuses more than a century ago.

Only, it looked too old and battered.

Its two eye sockets seemed have to have sunken in due to a blow to its face, causing its entire head to be covered with spider web-like fine lines.

It looked as if it were on the verge of breaking at any moment.

The puppet’s mouth opened and closed, emitting a piercing sound. “Hasn’t that cat’s power been exhausted? ”

“We even cut off the Egyptians’ sacrifice to it… ”

“What powers does it have ?! ”

So far, all the G.o.ds who had recovered their spiritual energy after waking up from their slumber, had only been able to regain some of their consciousness.

Most of the time, they could only respond to some basic requests, and were only able to make a move after a large-scale state sacrificial ceremony. Thereafter, they would fall into a long period of weakness.

This gave many ambitious people hope.

The Order of the Temple was amongst them.

Capturing a G.o.d and then devouring it whole.

Stepping on its corpse and ascending to the supreme throne.

The Order of the Temple was not the first to have such an idea, nor would it be the last.

So, after selecting carefully, they settled upon the Egyptian Cat G.o.ddess Bastet, who had awoken.

They patiently provoked Egypt’s neighbors and argued with them.

They stirred up internal conflicts within those countries.

They forced the Cat G.o.ddess to make a move.

After making sure that they had exhausted her divine power, they made a decisive move before the Egyptians had time to hold a new grand ceremony to restore the G.o.ddess’ divine power. They succeeded in s.n.a.t.c.hing away the Cat G.o.ddess and other idols whose consciousness was entrusted to her.

By this point, they ought to have been halfway to success.

All they had to do was to wait patiently for the Cat G.o.ddess to return to eternal sleep after exhausting all her energy.

They could then hold a terrifying ceremony and use evil means to strip the G.o.ddess of everything.

Unfortunately, it was just wishful thinking on their part.

Because a G.o.d was still a G.o.d.

Just when they thought they had succeeded, the Cat G.o.ddess and the other statues suddenly exploded.

The consciousness that was placed in them took the opportunity to escape from their prisons.

And disappeared without a trace .

However, they were not worried.

The Cat G.o.ddess’ consciousness may have used an secret technique to successfully escape.

But..

Without the sacrifice, and having lost the connection with her believers, most of her power and consciousness would still remain stuck in an eternal slumber.

It could not cause any more trouble.

As long as they are able to locate it, it would not be able to escape.

Hence, Sherlock, the Werewolf Overlord, who was the best at tracking within the Order of the Temple, volunteered to take on this mission.

However, Sherlock’s life lamp suddenly went out.

This meant that he was dead.

Who killed him?

The cat?

How could it be!

Could it be..

There was a somber look in the marionette’s eyes.

At this moment, figures, or monsters, appeared one after another from the chairs.

Everyone looked at the oil lamp that had been smashed to the ground and fell into deep thought.

At this moment, a few crows were cawing and circling above the hall.

Everyone raised their heads and looked at the crows.

As the crows circled faster and faster, the countless spider webs above the hall lit up one by one.

Finally, the light from the spider webs interwove and reflected a scene.

It was a valley deep in the mountains and forests.

Towering trees rose from the ground one by one.

Wooden houses built beside these trees.

“It’s Wolfsburg! ” The old and ragged marionette whispered.

The scene quickly zoomed in.

Everyone saw what was happening.

Giant wolves the size of calves were biting each other.

They were tearing each other apart within the forest.

Their enormous strength knocked down the towering trees one by one.

The entire valley was once a peaceful werewolf camp.

Now, it had become a b.l.o.o.d.y slaughter ground where they killed and devoured each other.

The twelve monsters thought that they had seen it all.

But they were still taken aback, even terrified, by the shocking scene they had just witnessed.

“This is a curse! ” A woman’s voice said, “I’m sure that the person who killed Sherlock used its corpse to perform some evil and terrifying taboo ritual, summoned a powerful Duke of h.e.l.l, then paid a price in exchange for this curse! ”

“It derives from the blood! ”

“The person who cast it must have a much higher level of soul and bloodline attainment than me! ” She said.

All the monsters turned to look at her.

Countless pairs of eyes reflected her appearance.

A young woman wearing a sari dress and a veil.

One of the 13 Earls of the Order of the Temple, the Earl of Curses, Darius.

One of the most outstanding gypsy diviners.

She was also a master at the school of curses!

“Madam… ” the broken marionette puppet turned around to look at her. “Are you able to deduce who cast the spell? ”

Darius shook her head. “I’ve never heard of curses which derive from blood…”

Her eyes looked upon the scene which being reflected. “But I’m guessing that it is a blood curse targeted at Sherlock’s bloodline… ”

“Judging from the werewolves at Wolfsburg… It should at least be capable of depriving intelligence or destroying rationality, perhaps both… ”

“It is unknown as to whether this curse could be traced back to Sherlock’s relatives…”

“If that is indeed possible, we’re in for a good show… ”

At this point, Darius’ pretty face had a rosy l.u.s.ter, making her look even more charming.

Sherlock, the leader of werewolves within the Order of the Temple, was the leader of one of the three werewolf clans in the Land of Qin.

He was the Supreme Leader of the Werewolf Society, the son of Duke William, the direct ancestor of all werewolves.

“We might be able to see an exciting match between Duke William and a Master of the Realm of Curses soon! ”

Duke William was not just the leader of the werewolves.

He was also one of the seven giants of the Qin Lu Underworld.

Even the leader of the Order of the Temple could not do anything to him!

“Madam! ” The marionette puppet stood up and looked at Darius. He suddenly asked, “Could you divine where Sherlock died? ”

“Who killed him? ”

“No problem! ” Darius got up and curtsied like a lady. “I’ll prepare for the ceremony immediately! ”

She too, was curious as to who had killed one of the 13 Earls of the Order of the Temple, the son of the leader of werewolves, Duke William.

This person would have offended two of the seven giants of the Qin Lu Underworld!

How bold of him!
