Chapter Ch36.2 - I’ve got this Ancestor’s back (7)

When it was getting dark, Lu Deng and Gu Ting boarded the airs.h.i.+p together.

The suspended s.h.i.+p used for sightseeing was huge enough to s.h.i.+eld the sun. It was also created in the style of a retro-style s.h.i.+p. The deck of the s.h.i.+p was covered with soft carpeting and all the facilities were all available. It made a particularly spectacular sight against the dimmed sky.

The young man carrying a drawing board followed by the photographer’s side. Mixed in with the crowd of tourists, he looked curiously at everything around him. The tall photographer held his hand firmly, stopping from time to time to patiently explain the camera positioning and light and shadows to him.

The tourists smiled generously at the camera and some waved at them. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful. No one was aware of Gu Ting’s ident.i.ty. Everyone was looking forward to the journey that was about to begin.

Lu Deng held the camera, focusing on every face he swept over.

This plot was just a side story. There was no concrete description of the superpowered being who had gone berserk. The system was quick of eye and deft of hand and it had managed to crop out a few fuzzy images which it was then able to reconstruct to create a picture of the being’s side profile.

It was somewhat difficult to find someone just based on this photo. Gu Ting had already changed his reservation once. Maybe he had already missed the original trip because of this change.

While he was lost in thought, a cool touch suddenly appeared on his cheek.

Lu Deng returned to his senses and raised his head. Gu Ting smiled and stretched out his hand, taking the camera from him. “Are you tired? Let’s go to the room and get a good night’s sleep. We can come out after you’ve recovered enough energy.”

The incident was set to happen in the afternoon. They will be staying on the boat for three days. Even if the incident were to happen tomorrow afternoon, there was still one whole night plus one morning to make his preparations.

There were already very few tourists remaining on the deck. Lu Deng gathered back his thoughts and nodded. Looking at the camera in his hand, his eyes suddenly brightened. “Come with me.”

Gu Ting was slightly startled and he was dragged to the edge of the s.h.i.+p. He watched him neatly open the rack and prop up the the drawing board. He chuckled and teased him gently, “What scenery is so important that you would need to paint it?”

“You.”

Lu Deng pursed his lips. The pureblood ancestor had suddenly gone stiff at the edge of the s.h.i.+p because of this one word. With a smile in his eyes, Lu Huaiye fixed his pose and quickly pressed a kiss to the edge of his lips. “Don’t move. “

Vampires cannot leave images, but doing a painting of one was possible.

He knew that Gu Ting was a photographer not only so that he would be able to walk around but also to record all that he saw—as for what should be recorded, he handed to over to himself.

The suspended s.h.i.+p started up slowly. It was so steady that the palette dragged by the vines didn’t shake at all. Lu Deng rolled up his sleeves and carefully looked at the figure in front of him. Facing the sparkling golden light of the setting sun, he began to set paint to canvas.

The heat had already dissipated together with the afterglow of the setting sun. Even a vampire wouldn’t be burned but Gu Ting still felt his face grow inexplicably hot.

His little prey didn’t talk much. He liked to look at him quietly but his eyes were almost always warm and kind. It was rare for him to have such an undisguised concentrated look, as if there was only him in his sleek black eyes.

Unable to guess what was being painted under that brush, Gu Ting became even more unable to control himself. Taking advantage of Lu Huaiye’s lowering his head to concentrate on painting, he wanted to flash past and take a look, but was fixed onto his original place by a vine along his waist.

The green vine was soft and smooth, without the sharp thorns when Lu Huaiye was about to attack. It dragged him back in place and a leaf even consolingly patted the back of his hand.

Gu Ting became curious and tried to caress the leaf as well. Suddenly he heard a soft noise from behind the drawing board.

When he had raised his head, Lu Huaiye’s figure was already mostly blocked by the drawing board. The tips of his ears though were flushed a faint red.

Realizing that these plants seemed to work in concert with the other’s mind, Gu Ting raised his eyebrows and he couldn’t help but touch the soft tentacles and vines. Finally, the vines wrapped around his arm, tying him down onto the s.h.i.+p.

Inferring from his reaction just now, this was probably Lu Huaiye underhandedly embracing him.

Gu Ting was fully relaxed and happy as he was tied up firmly. He lowered his head slightly, carefully studying the veins on the leaves.

After finally managing to stop the other from touching, Lu Deng let out a long sigh of relief behind the drawing board. He pulled at the hem of his clothes and continued to concentrate on drawing.

The airs.h.i.+p sailed smoothly under the dark blue sky. Only a sliver of red-orange remained from the sunset.

With his back facing the fading sunlight, Gu Ting’s figure was outlined in pale gold. It then gradually dimmed, melting into the darkening night.

The pureblood ancestor had broad shoulders and long legs, with a tall and st.u.r.dy figure. His eyes reflected a faint red color in the dark night. He was tied down firmly by the vines so that he couldn’t move, revealing a rare mysterious danger.

The corners of Lu Deng’s lips ticked up. He brought out two fluorescent plants for illumination. The colors gradually mixed on the canvas. He had more or less managed to paint out the base outline.

The brush paused slightly on the color of his eyes as he was considering which color to use. Lu Deng’s right wrist suddenly tingled. He was caught off guard and he groaned. The brush he was holding trembled and a deep crimson fell on the canvas.

Gu Ting’s expression tensed. His figure suddenly turned into a black mist, escaping from the shackles of the vines. He hugged the person into his arms. “What’s wrong? Where is it uncomfortable?”

Lu Deng gripped his right wrist and shook his head slightly, cold sweat oozing from his forehead.

Knowing that that was the spot used by the Special Service Office to control the agents, Gu Ting became even more worried. He took the entire person in his arms, revealing his power. He carefully gathered up all the painting tools on the deck and returned to their reserved room in the blink of an eye.

He wanted to take Lu Huaiye to be more comfortable on this trip so he specifically booked the first-cla.s.s cabin. The double room was s.p.a.cious and bright. The comfortable beds were neatly made and the snacks and refreshments that had just been delivered were placed on the table.

Gu Ting didn’t care at all about the conditions of the room at this moment. He just carefully laid the human youth, who was always looking down and silent, on the bed. He took that right hand into his and raised his hand to wipe the fine cold sweat from his forehead. “Does it still hurt?”

“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Lu Deng shook his head. His mind still stuck on the notification he had just seen.

He had almost clashed face-to-face with the Special Service Officer twice. Although they were all resolved by misunderstandings, the superiors must have been dissatisfied with him.

This time the pain was unexpectedly strong not only as a reminder, but also as a warning to remember his duty.

But this wasn’t the most important thing.

Keeping the communication device was just a stopgap measure. He doesn’t want to get into conflict with the Special Service Office now. When the need arises he can naturally find a way to remove it directly. What really worries him was the urgent notice he just received.

Gu Ting didn’t want to probe into his secrets but when all was said and done, he just couldn’t stop worrying. He crouched on the side of the bed, holding his hand. He raised his head slightly and asked, “Huaiye, is there anything I can do to help?”
