Although Fu Jianguo had already once heard Yang Mi narrate the whole incident, he still felt a rush of anger at Chen Yi once Yang Mi repeated those words. Not many people knew but Fu Jianguo was adopted. When his mother, Xu Yuyan married his father, they had tried for many years but they were unable to conceive a child. 

Since the elders were pressurizing them and they loved each other by heart, having no way out of the situation, they went on a year-long vacation and came back with a son thus preventing the elders from separating them.

Despite being adopted and later giving birth to a son of her own, Xu Yuyan had never mistreated Fu Jinguo in any way. The family had treated him the same as their other children. If Fu Jianguo was the eldest so if he was the from their bloodline, there should have been no problems for him to smoothly inherit the family's wealth following the 'Fu' family tradition.

But since he was not the true blood, there was a chance that the words Chen Yi said to his mother would bear fruit, and...he would end up losing his position.

Fu Jianguo could not tolerate to let this happen. He had a right over all this wealth and position! So what if his parents had adopted him? He was still their son!

"Chen Ying, I told you there was no point in still hanging on!" Fu Jianguo was agitated; his tone no longer as gentle as it used to be as he lashed at Chen Ying

In his eyes, Chen Yi had tried to turn his mother Xu Yuyan against him so that Chen Yi could pressurize him into taking her back.

When she realized that begging won't work, she had started 'acting' that she had moved on from him to make him have a change of heart. When she realized that even by that she could not deceive him, she steeped to the lowest levels. What kind of a desperate woman she was?

Truly a black heart with a pretty face. That pretty face of hers was such a waste on her!

Chen Ying was observing Fu Jianguo's expression from the corner of her eyes. She knew exactly what was going through his mind. She scoffed in her heart. 

Afterward, in response to his harsh tone, she winced and pretended to be lightheaded.

"Ying'er!" Fu Jianguo immediately supported her once he felt like she was about to fall. Once again, he felt a strong pang in his chest upon seeing her in this state. "I'm so sorry. That's why I ask you not to bring her up in conversations. Whenever we talk about her, I end up hurting you. She is truly cursed for us!" His voice softened. He didn't want to cause her any pain. He sighed. "Let's not bother with such a person."

"B-But Brother Fu, can we leave the things at this?" Chen Ying innocently blinked at Gu Jianguo. Her glistening eyes could pull the string of a man's heart. The innocence her presence radiated prompted the soft side of the man to come out and treat her like a princess, yielding to each and every request she had. 

Fu Jianguo was no different. He fell for her temptation just as any man would. Instead, he fell harder than any man.

"What are you suggesting Ying'er?" With tender softness in his eyes, he asked.

"Brother Fu, you know I don't want to...hurt Yi Jie...but if we don't do anything, she might end up hurting brother. I-I can't bear to see Brother Fu hurt because of me."

"Ying'er how many times I have to tell you this has nothing to do with you. You do not have to feel guilty." Fu Jinago sighed. He knew what Chen Ying was feeling. Chen Ying was naturally a kind soul. She didn't want to think or speak ill of her older cousin. But, at the same time, she cared greatly for him. She didn't want to see him hurt either. Thus, she was caught in a conflicted situation. 

"I will find a way to have her stop her desperate actions." His eyes glinted with malicious intent for a second before he gently caressed Chen Ying cheek. "You do not have to feel guilty. This has nothing to do with you. I am doing this only because she targetted me. So don't try to stop me."

"But Brother Fu..."

"Shush, silly girl. I already said I won't listen to you."

"Alright, Brother Fu." Chen Ying finally said after great hesitation. "Since you say so, I won't try to stop you."

Before dropping Chen Yi off to the university, Li Luxian decided to take her to the condo he had selected for her. Servants had already arranged whatever of the belongings she possessed neatly into the condo. 

Chen Yi climbed out of the car followed by Li Luxian. When she examined the estate where he had bought the condo for her, she was speechless. She had a legit reason behind being speechless. This was one of the most expensive estates in the whole of the country. Affording a residence here could cost up to billions. 

"Li Luxian, this is too high key." She complained. If the people from her circle found out about her residence later on, how was she supposed to explain? They would surely try every method to escalate this situation and create problems for her.

"This is the most convenient place for us."

"Convenient for us? In which sense?" Chen Yi cluelessly asked.

"This is closest to your University. Besides, my condo is just across yours. I can visit you whenever I want to."

Hearing this, Chen Yi's face was covered in black lines.

What the heck?!

"Dear hubby, oh dear hubby, why do we need to even bother if we are going to live this close? Why don't we just live in the same condo and spare this little distance?"

"Hmm... Not a bad idea. Let me just tell the servants to place your luggage in my condo."
