Chapter 464 - The Sky
"Friends of Phecda, we're spell members from Mysterium, here for reinforcement!" As the Byakees swarmed through the desert wasteland, the communication between Phecda and Mysterium was reforged. That inspired the people at command central. This was a historical moment. Two human civilizations from different worlds fought side by side. But it was unknown whether any human civilization would remain after this war.
The Mysterium members belonged to a temporarily formed Transboundary Unit. It was about 1000 people in size and had 3000 Byakees with them. Flying polypus hydroids also created havoc at the Mysterium World but Mysterium could still manage them, in fact, they had leftover manpower to send over. This was because Mysterium had over ten thousand spell members and that was not counting the experts from other countries' supernatural organization. Most of them were hurrying towards Mo Bei on their Byakees. The situation at Mysterium's Mo Bei was under control but they understood that they could not allow Phecda World to be destroyed, if it did, the Mysterium World would not survive either. To defeat the Yith's prophecy, to find the opening in the sea of time, they had to unite.
Now, with the reinforcement from another world, the situation changed again. The hydroids groaned as their numbers were cut down again. The 3000 Byakees were working together to clean up the borders. These Byakees were stronger than the ones summoned by Phecda because Mysterium members had far more experience utilizing them. Compared to the flying polypus hydroids which acted purely on instinct, the Byakees were like an actual army. They steamrolled over their opponents. Endless hydroids were torn apart and blood rained from the sky. The Phecda members on the ground were inspired at this turnaround.
"This is not yet over…" Lou Xiaoning shook her head and struggled to stand up. The broken leg was not hers but she did injure her right calf. A piece of her meat was missing, she could feel the phantom pain. Despite that, she teetered towards the rifle that had landed not far away from her. She aimed the barrel at the hydroids that were still flying out from the abyss and pulled on the trigger…
At the same time, Uncle Dan also struggled up and mumbled, "Emergency… emergency…" The wounded are everywhere, we mustn't lose prime time for first aid…
Deng Ximei snapped out of it. Even though she was not a doctor, she had received simple medical training. She hurried to apply bandages on her colleagues. No matter how this tragedy would end, she would save those that she could for now. With the support from Mysterium, some of the Byakees managed to land to defend the surviving members so they had the time to apply first aid.
At this moment, more Byakees came from the border. This time there were 2000 of them! This was the difference between the Seven Cryptical Book of Hsan and 9 Mysterium Arts. A common Mysterium member could summon 3 Byakees easily while someone as talented as Feng Peiqian could summon 10 of them alone. Therefore, the 5000 Byakees that arrived at Phecda World were forces that Mysterium could spare.
Byakees lashed through the sky as they consumed the hydroids. The decomposing smell turned the wasteland into a swamp. Even for a Yellow Brotherhood wors.h.i.+pper, this scene would have appeared confusing to them. Back at the command central, this was the first time Elder Tong saw a glimmer of hope! These Mysterium friends sure were impressive! Although it also caused Elder Tong to lament, "If Phecda has listened to my advice and studied spells back then, we might be as strong as they are now…"
However, the atmosphere at the command central did not lift up by that much. They were still worried about w.a.n.g Ruoxiang's group. It was because of their contribution that they managed to survive until reinforcement arrived. There was still no reply from w.a.n.g Ruoxiang's group. Phecda sent out members to the quarantine base. According to their reports, the medical team was already applying emergency rescue.
"Tik tok, tik tok…" At the altar, the unconcerned voice continued the countdown.
Yu Chi saw the war between the transboundary team and the flying polypus hydroids from the scrolls, and he cheered. He hoped that he was there on the battlefield. Gu Jun though was more focused on the quarantine base. His heart was wrenched. w.a.n.g Ruoxiang still did not need any medical attention but no one knew about her mental state. She was still conscious, with one knee on the ground; however Cai Zixuan, Si Kouxian and the others were already unconscious. Gu Jun saw a doctor pump a needle into Cai Zixuan's heart and applied the defibrillator… As Cai Zixuan was placed on the stretcher and carried back to the base, the nurses applied a constant heart resuscitation exercise.
"Ah!" Gu Jun groaned helplessly. This was only necessary when the patient's heart was not working on its own. 'Zixuan, hang in there… We still need you to cook delicious soups for us, no one can make them like you do…' That was Gu Jun's desperate hope and Wu Siyu's thoughts. Her eyes burned with fire.
"Tik tok, ting." The tall figure above them said, "Time's up, so what's your choice?"
Before they could answer, Keziah Mason sighed, "So many hydroids have died but these worms are not even the disciples of our master, they merely came out to vent their frustration due to their hatred towards the Yith." The witch shook their head. "Do you think the situation has changed because some of these worms have been killed?"
Gu Jun indeed did not expect that. He a.s.sumed the Flying Locust and flying polypus hydroids served the Locust G.o.d or Nyarlathotep but it appeared like that was not the case. They merely emerged from the ground to cause death among humanity because humanity had a brief interaction with the Yith that they hated?
Gu Jun was confused. Locust G.o.d had destroyed many different civilizations before. Other than Locust Sickness, he would borrow other forces, in fact he might even wipe out the independent race like the flying polypus hydroids after their work was done. If these hydroids did not belong to the Locust G.o.d, then… Gu Jun's eyes wandered towards the mutated area at the tree farm. The area had grown so big, it had consumed the previous life circle. The locust consumed everything. Their wings flapped noisily as they rammed against the border.
"Since you have such difficulty making a choice." The tall figure said, "Then witness this."
Suddenly Gu Jun's eyes narrowed and Yu Chi gasped. The border disappeared. The swarm of locust burst through the borders and infiltrated into the Phecda World. Bei Mian Village at Mo Bei was instantly descended upon by the swarm.. When they were done, the swarm spread and expanded.
