Chapter 3336: Bao Qi

The Yuan family would become a legend if they could produce two members of the Seven Seraphs.

This thought caused Yuan Mie to glance towards another corner, where a blanket covered something. The creature beneath that blanket trembled.

As he looked over, Yuan Mie’s gaze grew serious. No one dared to approach that corner.

He prided himself on being one of the most talented members of his generation in the Spirit Nidus, thanks to the resources that he had received from the Yuan family. Very few could compare to him, and everyone who could had received comparable support in resources. In contrast, that hidden person, despite being an independent cultivator, had reached the same level.

It was important to note that being allowed onto the first battles.h.i.+p to enter the Tianyuan Megaverse was a great honor. Aside from the peak powerhouses, who were the main offensive force against the Tianyuan Megaverse, the younger people on the battles.h.i.+p had been sent to gain experience or steal a bit of glory. Upon their return, they would be able to boast about being in the first wave of invaders, which would only widen the gap between them and others.

Everyone on the battles.h.i.+p had some powerhouse with an important status or an influential family backing them, with a single exception. That person had nothing at all, but he had still managed to join the battles.h.i.+p.

The battles.h.i.+p shook again, more violently this time. Golden light broke into the vessel, and it nearly blinded several of the occupants. Yuan Mie could not resist looking into outer s.p.a.ce again. The Tianyuan Megaverse was surprisingly strong.

Near the stone gate, Sovereign Dou Sheng repeatedly slammed his golden cudgel down. He had moved past Lord Xu to rain blows down upon Bao Qi. The Seraph was strong enough to badly injure the Voidlord with just a single blow. Sovereign Dou Sheng, despite being about as powerful as Lord Xu and also being recognized as one of the Three Suns and Six Rulers of Heavens Sect, could not match Bao Qi’s strength. However, the Sovereign’s greatest advantage was his indestructibility.

Extremes Must Be Reversed had once allowed Progenitor Ku to invade the Scourge on his own, and Sovereign Dou Sheng had repeatedly used it to fight against Arrow G.o.d. At this moment, the same technique shone brilliantly as he fought against the Spirit Nidus.

The Seven Seraphs ranked third on Spirit Nidus’s power scale. They were only below the Fated One and the High Seraph. The Seven Seraphs stood above all others, and they were the rulers of the megaverse, as far as most of the people in Spirit Nidus were aware.

Bao Qi was a Seraph, which was why he had injured Lord Xu so easily. However, he was suddenly being relentlessly pummeled by dozens of attacks from Sovereign Dou Sheng, which triggered Bao Qi’s fighting spirit. He opened his mouth and unleashed the multicolored light in a continuous stream that shot at Sovereign Dou Sheng. The man clenched his cudgel tightly as his body withered up and he simply endured Bao Qi’s silent attack.

The Seraph’s attacks were sound based, yet no sound could be heard. The two men fought a grand yet silent battle.

Bao Qi had mastered the tenth-ranked sequence technique: sound. He had then combined it with his innate gift. The resulting combination made him practically invincible. He overpowered Sovereign Dou Sheng, and the Sovereign repeatedly coughed up blood. His body was constantly flickering between a restored state and a withered state as golden blood pumped through his veins, boiling as it dyed his entire body a golden color. With both Triumphant Brawl and Extremes Must Be Reversed, the Sovereign’s power increased even more, and he radiated the aura of someone willing to grow stronger even if it meant his death. His eyes blazed with a golden light.

Bao Qi laughed maniacally as his sonic attack shattered the golden cudgel. Multicolored light enveloped the Seraph’s body as he reached out to grab Sovereign Dou Sheng.

The Sovereign simultaneously raised his hand, meeting Bao Qi head-on.

Lord Xu’s face grew pale. This fight could not be allowed to continue. Sovereign Dou Sheng was burning through his own vitality. Having already directly experienced Bao Qi’s power, Lord Xu knew that Bao Qi was not someone either he or the Sovereign could handle. Both of them were sequence powerhouses, while Bao Qi was likely an Ortuser, or even a Dukkhan. This man was even stronger than the Three Realms and Six Daos who had broken through to the Origin realm. There was no way that Sovereign Dou Sheng could handle the Seraph on his own. If their fight continued, the man would die.

However, Sovereign Dou Sheng was unable to retreat. He refused to take even a single step back. In the past, he had risked certain death by attacking True G.o.d in an attempt to save the Great Sovereign. The Sovereign intended to do the same thing once again.

Cracks opened up across his skin, and golden blood lit up the universe.

Lord Xu attacked. He compressed his voidforce energy as he attempted to form his Thermometer of Life.

The Thermometer of Life was his innate gift. Bao Qi, despite his incredible power, was still human. Once he was trapped within the thermometer, he would be no different from an ordinary person. If the temperature was then raised to forty degrees, then forty-one, followed by forty-two, he would inevitably die.

The only complication was that the Thermometer of Life could only form by using sequence particles as a medium. Lord Xu had comprehended the Law of Order, and by combining his sequence particles with his innate gift, he could create a complete version of the Thermometer of Life. However, someone like Bao Qi had long since reached the level where sequence particles could not approach him.

"Dou Sheng, distract him with your sequence particles!" Lord Xu sent to Sovereign Dou Sheng.

At that moment, the Sovereign was unable to hear anything at all. His entire body had been stained gold, and he no longer paid attention to anything other than Bao Qi. Fight, fight, fight! It was all that mattered. The Sovereign would fight even to the death.

Multicolored light clashed with a golden light in the middle of outer s.p.a.ce. The battle produced no sound. It was magnificent, yet also eerie to see, given the tremendous destructive power being unleashed.

Bao Qi cackled. "It’s been so long since I’ve fought so freely! Your cultivation is clearly inferior to mine, and yet you can use this bizarre technique to hold your ground. Not bad at all. Surrender your technique to me, and I’ll spare your life. Join the Ascendant Hall, and you might even become a Seraph yourself one day."

Sovereign Dou Sheng’s hands were locked with Bao Qi’s. The Seraph’s words caused the Sovereign’s eyes to bulge with rage. White bones broke through his skin along his arms, and he stabbed them into Bao Qi’s body.

Such a brutal attack startled everyone who witnessed it.

This was a clear attempt at mutual destruction.

Bao Qi was injured. Many years had pa.s.sed since he had last suffered a single wound. He had not been injured even during his campaigns in the Consciousness Megaverse. However, Sovereign Dou Sheng’s bones had pierced the Seraph’s flesh, and he was experiencing pain. Even so, the pain only incited Bao Qi to laugh louder than ever. The more pain he experienced, the more he felt alive.

This battle reminded him of the brutal compet.i.tion he had fought against those mad dogs in order to become a Seraph. That had truly been a vicious fight.

Multicolored light flashed, and it tore through Sovereign Dou Sheng’s right hand, which had been reduced to just skin and bone. Bao Qi kicked his opponent away and then turned to unleash another blast of light. The Sovereign’s Extremes Must Be Reversed had ended long ago, and he was not even bleeding anymore. He had reached his limits. He could not endure this attack, let alone continue fighting against Bao Qi.

At the very last moment, mirrors appeared, and from them shot a silver spear. Garan Zhiluo had arrived.

The silver spear struck the multicolored light and pushed it back as Garan Zhiluo pulled Sovereign Dou Sheng away from the battlefield.

Bao Qi’s eyes snapped open. "How cowardly! He should die here. He deserves that much respect!"

As he spoke, he attacked Garan Zhiluo with his multicolored light that swept across the universe. This time, the attack spread out like a curtain to envelop everything in its path. This included Lord Xu, as well as the Spirit Nidus's forces near the stone gate.

The battles.h.i.+p quickly pulled back, its occupants horrified.

"Hurry up and move back! Lord Bao Qi has gone mad!"

"Retreat!"

The battles.h.i.+p retreated at full speed.

Multicolored light spread out like clouds, and instantly, the entire battlefield was enveloped.

Just as Bao Qi was about to attack the entire battlefield, black soil appeared up above. The universe was covered by the dirt, and the multicolored light was blocked, returning darkness to the universe.

Bao Qi turned to look into the distance. Lu Yin met the Seraph’s gaze, and the two men stared at each other.

Bao Qi’s eyes looked crazed. They were overflowing with bloodl.u.s.t and madness.

In contrast, Lu Yin’s gaze was calm. He had gradually come to understand the round-faced old man’s methods. Lu Yin was not fighting to defeat that old man, but rather keep him occupied.

The black soil had managed to fill the universe because Lu Yin had taken action the moment that Bao Qi was about to strike the entire battlefield.

Attacking the entire battlefield? That was not something that Bao Qi deserved to decide, even if he was a Seraph.

Bao Qi sneered and his multicolored light slammed down onto the soil as the man attacked the landma.s.s that had appeared.

The old man before Lu Yin was impressed. "You meddle with another Seraph’s fight while facing me? Astonis.h.i.+ng, young man."

The black soil and multicolored light clashed above the battlefield, but not a single beam of light broke through. This battle had covered the entire battlefield, but it was only known to Lu Yin and Bao Qi.

Bao Qi’s smile faded. His broadest attack had been completely restrained. It was no wonder how the young man was able to hold his own against the old freak from the Chamber of Commerce. Lu Yin was truly the greatest threat in the Tianyuan Megaverse.

He would not be easy to deal with. Despite Bao Qi’s arrogance, he acknowledged Lu Yin’s strength, and he would leave the young man to the old man from the Chamber of Commerce. After ending some weaker opponents, Bao Qi would settle the score for having his attack stopped.

In front of the Seraph, a silver spear thrust forward. Garan Zhiluo, her body hidden within bandages, charged at Bao Qi with her silver spear.

Bao Qi admired Sovereign Dou Sheng’s determination and combat style, and while he felt contempt for Garan Zhiluo’s actions, he would not underestimate the woman.

Garan Zhiluo was one of the Three Realms and Six Daos, and she was incredibly powerful. She easily broke through Bao Qi’s attacks, and her strength forced the Seraph to take Garan Zhiluo seriously.

As he dodged the silver spear, Bao Qi waved a hand. A ma.s.sive object appeared before him, radiating an ancient, timeworn aura.

On the other side of the stone gate, the man and two women who were protecting the battles.h.i.+p and had killed the Abandoned were horrified. "This is bad! That’s the Cauldron Bell. Keep retreating."

Those three were not alone, as everyone from the Spirit Nidus who was even remotely close to Bao Qi's battlefield also started to pull back. They had already been keeping their distance from Bao Qi, but at this moment, they chose to retreat even further, despite the risk of being ambushed by cultivators from the Tianyuan Megaverse.

People from the Spirit Nidus all retreated as though their lives depended on it. Upon seeing this, the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse similarly panicked and fled as well. No one was foolish enough to stay behind.

While both men were Seraphs, Bao Qi was different from the round-faced old man. The old man was a powerful Dukkhan who was just one step away from becoming an Immortal, even if that last step was as difficult to take as ascending into the heavens. On the other hand, Bao Qi was just an Ortuser.

He was not overcoming Dukkha, though not because he was afraid. Rather, Bao Qi was unwilling.

He enjoyed many mortal pleasures and valued his freedom above all else. He believed in self-mastery and did not want to experience the struggles of Dukkhans, who were restricted by forces outside of themselves.

Everyone who was attempting to overcome Dukkha was at least slightly insane. Their actions and goals—literally everything they did was always related to their attempt to overcome Dukkha. They were no longer entirely self-motivated. This was something that Bao Qi refused to accept.

It was nearly impossible for an Ortuser to become one of the Seven Seraphs, which was why practically all of the Seraphs were Dukkans. The only reason why Bao Qi had succeeded in becoming a Seraph was because of his Cauldron Bell.

The Cauldron Bell was one of the Spirit Nidus’s ten sequence bases, and it was ranked eighth. It had been formed from the sequence particles of 105 powerhouses who had cultivated the Sound Sequence Technique. It was an incredibly unique sequence base that could only release its full power when utilized by those who had cultivated the same sequence technique. Anyone else who obtained the Cauldron Bell would find it impossible to unleash its full potential.

It was one of the rare sequence bases that required a corresponding sequence technique in order to be used.

Although the Cauldron Bell was ranked eighth, its rank was only that low due to the limitations of potential users. In the hands of the right person, it could unleash unimaginable power.

The Sound Sequence Technique was ranked tenth out of the Spirit Nidus’s eighty-eight sequence techniques, but it was also the easiest of the top thirty sequence techniques to master. That was why 105 powerhouses had succeeded in mastering it.
