Chapter 3368: Who Is The Traitor?
If Wei Nu was helping the Tianyuan Megaverse set an ambush for the Spirit Nidus’s powerhouses, then she should have already taken action.
But if not that, then what was her real goal?
Lu Yin remained extremely wary of Wei Nu. She had to have her own agenda.
The River of Aeons continued to flow by.
Chu Yi and others surrounded the two Seraphs, but with the protection of their sequence bases, it would not be easy to defeat them.
There were a seemingly infinite sea of sequence particles, and as long as the two Seraphs had control of the sequence bases, there was even a risk that Lu Yin and the others might suffer from a counterattack.
As for Blackless G.o.d, he was managing to hold his ground against the ancestor of the super giants, who felt incredibly frustrated. He was a powerful Ortuser, but he could not find a way to capture Blackless G.o.d.
All Seven SkyG.o.ds had fought during the final battle at the Immemorial Citadel, but the super giant had not paid any of them much attention. While powerful, he had not focused on anyone beneath the Origin realm.
Who could have imagined that Blackless G.o.d would prove to be such a slippery opponent? Was the super giant really unable to pin the SkyG.o.d down at all? At this point, asking for help would be embarra.s.sing.
Blackless G.o.d kept looking for a chance to escape. His consciousness was his final trump card, but it was certainly enough for him to leave. The Mirari Realm had never hosted such a grand battle before. Near the River of Aeons, the stone monument that Progenitor Xi had put up had already been shattered long ago.
Lu Yin glanced at the two Seraphs, who were still both protected by Bao Qi’s silent power. Lu Yin wiped the corner of his mouth. Bao Qi’s power seemed to be endless and unyielding. Waiting would accomplish nothing.
Since that was the case, Lu Yin would simply break one of them first.
Lu Yin spoke to Chu Yi and Lu Yuan, sharing his plan.
The two older men were briefly taken aback, and then they exchanged glances, surprised by the plan.
The round-faced old man used the Impression Realm to surround himself, combining the sequence base with the silent power to form an impenetrable defense.
"Bao Qi, how much longer can you hold on for?"
"My sound is an innate gift that is enhanced by my sequence technique and then merged with a sequence base. Even so, on my own, there would be too much pressure to last for very long. But with your Impression Realm and golden pen, we can outlast them," Bao Qi replied.
The old man was rea.s.sured by this reply. "We won’t leave this Mirari Realm. As long as we can hold out for a bit, our reinforcements will arrive. Then, these people will have no choice but to leave."
Bao Qi grew puzzled. "If time is frozen in the Mirari Realm, then why would they have to leave?"
The old man sneered. "Whenever a living creature enters the Mirari Realm, it synchronizes with the outside universe at that time. They won’t be willing to take such a gamble. If they lose, the Tianyuan Megaverse is as good as gone. ℞Å₦ÓꞖĚŜ
"n.o.body knows how much time has pa.s.sed outside of this place, just like how they can’t guess when or where the next person to visit this place will come from. They won’t be able to stay here for long. The Mirari Realm will eventually belong to us."
The old man then turned to Lu Yin. "Young man, why don’t we see how long you can stay here for?"
Lu Yin looked at the old man with a growing smirk. "Longer than you."
The old man was taken aback, and he immediately felt that was wrong.
Suddenly, beyond the field of the silent power, Chu Yi, Lu Yuan, Progenitor Chen, and Progenitor Ku all simultaneously split into two. Moving at incredible speeds, each of them attacked the field of silent power.
The round-faced old man was stunned. "Impossible!"
Within the Impression Realm, reality and impression could be reversed. This meant that, when an impression was injured, those injuries would be pa.s.sed along to the genuine person. This seemed to be a powerful ability, and it certainly was. After all, even Chu Yi was wary of the sequence base.
However, there was a major flaw to this ability. The impressions were vague and not under the control of whoever wielded the sequence base.
When first seeing another person, one would initially have different impressions, depending on if they saw the person from the front or the side. But in time, these differences would be smoothed out.
The Impression Realm operated on similar principles.
The Law of Impression relied on a cultivator’s perception. Chu Yi and the others had formed two images by moving at a high speed; one image was of their front, and the other of their sides. To the Impression Realm, these were two different impressions.
While the Impression Realm could deal with multiple opponents, and the old man could also resolve the issue of multiple impressions of each person appearing, there would still be a delay. While he attacked the frontal impressions, Chu Yi and the others would attack the old man from the side, or vice versa.
This was the Impression Realm’s flaw.
The truth was that this was really not much of a flaw. If Chu Yi and the others were not as powerful, then the old man could easily injure or kill them, regardless of the angle. This detail of the sequence base only became a flaw when the strength of its wielder was nearly equal to their opponents.
As the old man saw Chu Yi and the others split into multiple images, his heart dropped. He hurriedly tried to counterattack.
However, Chu Yi and Lu Yuan were both Ortusers, and even Progenitor Chen and Progenitor Ku were too strong to be easily dealt with. The old man was not strong enough to defeat his opponents on his own.
Everyone’s attacks landed on the field of silent power simultaneously.
Bao Qi felt a sudden spike in pressure. His only option was to increase the amount of power the Cauldron Bell was producing, but that drastically increased his own energy consumption.
"What’s going on?" Bao Qi shouted.
The old man gritted his teeth. “Someone has betrayed our Spirit Nidus! They know about the Impression Realm’s flaw!”
"Who was it?"
The old man glared at Lu Yin. The young man’s confident expression served to confirm the old man’s suspicions that there was a traitor. While the sequence base’s flaw could have been discovered naturally, Lu Yin’s smirk convinced the Seraph that they had been betrayed.
By who? Who could the traitor be?
Palace Master Yao? That was impossible, as she did not know about the Impression Realm’s flaw.
Tian Ci? That was also impossible, as there was no way for him to know about it either.
Aside from those two, who else was there?
Suddenly, a name occurred to the Seraph: Yuan Qi.
He turned to Lu Yin. “You have Yuan Qi, don’t you?”
Lu Yin’s eyes turned cold. “Take a guess.”
The round-faced old man ground his teeth. "It's Yuan Qi! He betrayed our Spirit Nidus."
Bao Qi was shocked. "Why him?"
"Because Yuan Qi once used the Impression Realm, so he knows its flaws! Even after being in the Tianyuan Megaverse for so long, he’s never shown up and joined us to fight against them. Not even the Aeternals know where he is. He has to have been captured by the Heavens Sect, and he’s definitely betrayed the Spirit Nidus." The old man was absolutely convinced.
He turned back to Lu Yin. "And what about Zhan Yan? Where’s the Rivers and Mountains Painting?"
"What’s wrong? You don’t want to use the Impression Avatar?" Lu Yin countered.
The old man’s expression fell. "You even know about the Impression Avatar? Yuan Qi must have turned traitor and told you everything."
He then whispered to Bao Qi, "If things go south, we need to retreat."
The pressure on the field of silent power suddenly spiked again as Lu Yin attacked while using Inverse Step. Multiple images of him appeared all at once, and there were too many for the Seraph to attack.
Lu Yin swung his hand, and dirt spears rained down upon the field of silent power with terrifying force. This attack was reinforced by Lu Yin’s Dust World, and Bao Qi was forced to retreat.
Bao Qi's expression turned grim, though a wide smirk did creep across his face as he placed both of his hands on the Cauldron Bell. As he did so, the other Seraph pulled forth an overwhelming surge of sequence particles from the Impression Realm.
Right then, two ma.s.sive surges of sequence particles rose up, soaring into the sky like dragons, shrouding it and overshadowing the Mirari Realm.
The expressions of Lu Yin and his allies changed drastically. They had never seen such an overwhelming display of sequence particles before. A second sky of pure sequence particles had essentially appeared above the entire Mirari Realm.
This was the true power of the sequence bases and all the sequence particles that they contained. The Impression Realm had been created from the sequence particles of 359 cultivators, while the Cauldron Bell had been crafted from the sequence particles of 105 cultivators.
Together, these two sequence bases contained the power of more than 400 sequence powerhouses. It was an absolutely terrifying number.
Even through the Immemorial Citadel’s entire history, it had not seen nearly that many sequence powerhouses.
The first time Lu Yin had seen an impressive amount of sequence particles had been at the Great Sovereign’s Tea Ceremony, but those sequence particles were dwarfed by those before him at this moment.
Lu Yin had never seen this many sequence particles in one place.
The Impression Realm and the Cauldron Bell both released a flood of sequence particles, blanketing the entire Mirari Realm and pressing down on Lu Yin and his allies.
At that moment, anyone would be shaken by the sheer number of sequence particles and the power behind them.
Bao Qi roared, and the Cauldron Bell trembled. The vast sea of sequence particles fell like the darkened sky itself was collapsing. Daylight vanished. Everyone was forced to use their own sequence abilities to resist the deluge, though two figures managed to leap through the vast sea of sequence particles. These two charged straight at the two Seraphs. They were Lu Yin and Progenitor Chen.
The two managed to bypa.s.s the flood of sequence particles by skipping time, and both of the Seraph’s faces betrayed their sudden alarm.
The two Progenitors attacked, each using Linked Palm.
The surrounding sequence particles swirled into vortices as they were pulled into the attacks as the two Linked Palms shot out.
Bao Qi pushed the Cauldron Bell forward to protect him.
Bang!
There was a deafening collision, and Bao Qi spat out blood as he was sent flying, his Cauldron Bell knocked aside. Nearby, the old man gathered the Impression Realm back to himself while aiming his golden pen at Lu Yin.
Heat erupted on Lu Yin’s brow, and Lightstream formed a boat that swept around him as he reversed time by one second. He moved away from where he had just been standing, and a finger shot forward, releasing the Dao of One Heavens.
The attack struck the old man head-on, and cracks appeared across his body. However, Lu Yin’s eyes flickered, as he realized that he had attacked the Impression Avatar.
The Impression Avatar was the Impression Realm’s special ability. The sequence base could produce an impression of either the wielder themselves, or of others. This meant that the old man was able to create an avatar of himself based off of his impression of himself. This avatar would be unrestricted by distance, which made it ideal for ambushes. This was something that Yuan Qi had specifically warned Lu Yin about.
When executed well, this ability could completely reverse a battle.
Fortunately, Lu Yin had remained on guard against it.
In the distance, even the ancestor of the super giants hesitated in the face of the overwhelming attack. He threw his fists against the sequence particles that were pressing down upon him. Blackless G.o.d took the opportunity to flee, but the super giant reached out to grab the SkyG.o.d. Blackless G.o.d turned back, and while he appeared to do nothing, the giant felt as though Blackless G.o.d was both very close and yet also completely unreachable.
This was the same ability that had once prevented Lu Yin and others from reaching the Immemorial Citadel: Endless Path.
Endless Path was not an aspect of Blackless G.o.d’s power that he had obtained in the Tianyuan Megaverse. Rather, it was something related to his true form as a conscient from the Consciousness Megaverse. His level of consciousness was at the Dukkhan level, even surpa.s.sing what Xu Jin had once possessed. Blackless G.o.d possessed the most powerful consciousness in the entire Tianyuan Megaverse.
Ultimately, Blackless G.o.d succeeded in escaping. He had no strong desire to remain in the Mirari Realm.
The giant was furious, and he felt humiliated by Blackless G.o.d’s escape, as well as uncertain of how to explain the matter to Lu Yin.
Lu Yin was in no position to worry about the giant. Behind the round-faced old man, a figure with a pointed white mask had appeared. It was the Seraph’s so-called G.o.d of Death. The figure was wielding a lance and targeting Progenitor Chen. Compared to Lu Yin, Progenitor Chen seemed more vulnerable and easier to defeat quickly.
However, the Seraph underestimated Progenitor Chen. As one of the greatest cultivators of his era, while Progenitor Chen had not yet broken through to the Origin realm, that only meant that he was not able to repel the laws of the universe. Given that Lu Yin’s inner universe could do that for Progenitor Chen, the difference in strength between the man and an Ortuser or Dukkhan had been practically eliminated.
As the lance shot towards him, Progenitor Chen stepped to the side. He was so close to the lance that it appeared to brush past his body. At that moment, he used Inverse Step to create a region of chaotic time.
The G.o.d of Death was a construct of sequence particles, and it immediately started to blur.
The Seraph’s eyes went wide in shock. Once again, he was being countered by the power of time.
