Chapter 1606 Don't Be Disrespectful To Your Superiors

Klaus was seated on the same swinging chair, he noticed a few people walking towards him. He raised a brow as he quickly recognized these people, they were the top experts in the castle, all five of them were at the Peak of the Venerable Plane.

"For what reasons did all five of you come to visit me?" He asked casually, signaling the servant fanning him to leave. The young lady feeding him was also told to leave as well.

"We only came to have a word with you." The middle-aged man who was dressed like one of the soldiers asked, it was evident that he was a top figure in the kingdom.

"Oh, what about?" Klaus didn't show any signs of fear as he asked.

"You've been killing some of my best soldiers, I'd like it if you stop doing that." The middle-aged man said.

"General…" Klaus paused and looked at the man questioningly, "You're a general, correct?"

The middle-aged man nodded.

"Good, let's say your subordinates disobey your commands, what will be your first choice of action?" Klaus asked.

The general looked at Klaus and replied, "They will be punished according to our rules."

"I'm doing likewise, just that they're being punished according to my rules." Klaus explained, "I'm directly under His Highness, and I have the right to pa.s.s out an order to them, but they outrightly disobey my orders every single time."

"Do you mean that even though I'm their superior, I have no right to punish them for their disobedience?" He asked after explaining to them.

"I understand that they disobeyed you, and there's always punishment for disobedience, but aren't your punishments a little too harsh?" One of the men asked.

"Your orders which were not obeyed immediately are those that they need to confirm from His Highness first, but you get enraged that they are doing their duties." Another one of the men added.

The others nodded, all agreeing to the man's words.

"Hmm, I can understand where you're coming from, but I also will have you understand that His Highness gave me the freedom, and I don't do anything that goes against His Highness, I've always been very simple with my orders." Klaus explained calmly.

"You told them to give you a wine that is only offered to those from the royal family." The general said, looking at Klaus. The fact that Klaus could mention that all his requests had been simple orders was annoying. If not for the fact that he wasn't stronger than Klaus, he would've killed him on the spot.

"His Highness gave me the go ahead, surely you don't think I'm trying to go against His Highness, do you?" Klaus raised a brow.

"Of course not, we just have questions concerning your behavior since you entered this castle." The general said, and the atmosphere turned tense with his words.

Klaus' expression didn't change, he looked at the general and just when the general was prepared for Klaus to attack, Klaus laughed, "I must admit, I didn't think you'd come at me."

"Since I'm loyal to His Highness, I guess I'll have to tone down my harshness towards his soldiers." He added with a playful laugh.

The general heaved a sigh of relief when he heard this, from Klaus' previous performances, he was almost certain Klaus would attack them. All he wanted to do was ensure Klaus was the first to attack, so they could retaliate, but for some reason, Klaus didn't attack, rather, he took their words for it.

"Thank you, for taking them into consideration." The general said while looking Klaus in the eyes.

Klaus still had a smile on his face, however, the figure of the general slowly started to slowly bend down.

"Don't you find it a little disrespectful when your subordinates look you in the eyes? It's almost as if they're getting ready to defy you." Klaus looked at the other four who were staring at him, he asked playfully, "You guys wouldn't be planning on defying me, right?"

Before any of them could answer he added, "Defying me is no different from defying His Highness."

The four wanted to speak, but then they saw the general who was standing ahead of them breaking eye contact with Klaus and looking down.

"We wouldn't dare." The four replied and dropped their heads quickly.

Klaus nodded and signaled for them to leave, just as the four were about to turn around, he said, "Don't forget to take the general with you, he's a bit cold and should be allowed to rest for the meantime."

The four looked at the general in shock, when they walked closer to him, they realized he didn't look down on his own accord, rather, he was forced to look down by a superior power. There's only one person in this place who could do something like this.

Their hearts shook in fear when they realized Klaus could've killed the general right in their presence and they wouldn't even sense it. The gap in strength was too ma.s.sive for them.

They picked up the general, bowed to Klaus and left.

As soon as they left, the Fourth Prince appeared before them.

"Don't you think you're going a bit too far. If the Second and First Princes are alerted by your actions, we'll have some trouble."

"Don't worry, I'm done playing with them. When will we be heading to war? Klaus asked.

"Well, they should attack tomorrow. The Elders are trying to dissuade the Fifth Prince, but they all know that he's someone who has always allowed his anger to control him. So it's very easy to get them to fight. Besides, I threatened them as well, they have no choice but to fight."

"Haha, I wonder if Rey is enjoying his time there. There are a few things here that have helped me a lot. I'll break through to the Second stage within the next few days."

"I'll clean the place before leaving."

"Good."
