A deathly silence descended upon the valley.

All of those within the Dragon's Scale Guardians squad had turned deathly pale as cold sweat fell from their foreheads. Gripping fear could be seen within their eyes.

Being corrupted was one of the most terrifying feelings. Even a Duke, if they were unable to cleanse themselves, could only watch with creeping horror as they gradually lost their minds.

Li Tingyue's bangs were plastered onto her forehead due to the sweat as she cut a sorry figure. However she quickly overcame her inhibitions and regained a sense of calm.

She directly sat cross-legged and four spiritual lights emerged from her, transforming into towering Duke Bergfrieds.

Boundless amounts of Divine Mist descended like a waterfall and completely covered her.

This was her way of testing if she could detect and purge the corruption from her body with the aid of her Divine Mist.

This was the most effective means for a Duke to remove the corruption from their body. Normally speaking, the Divine Mist was able to do so.

Unfortunately this sort of corruption was not what they usually encountered.

After the amount of time needed for half an incense stick to burn, Li Tingyue opened her eyes. A look of panic appeared on her pale face as she heavily spoke, "I... I am unable to even detect the corruption within my body."

She had meticulously inspected every corner of her body but the corruption was nowhere to be found. That said, Wen Xuan's transformation and the fact that she had seen her own pupils change before her eyes meant that she had been hoodwinked.

Thus there was no way to detect that she had been corrupted. It wasn't that it didn't exist, it was just that it could conceal itself more deeply than usual and was incredibly dangerous.

When the rest of those within the Dragon's Scale Guardians heard her words, their expressions turned ugly as well. If even Li Tingyue was incapable of dealing with the Black Pupil Ghostly Curse, did that mean that they were just waiting for death?

Li Foluo's expression turned even more gloomy. Although he was happy that none on his side had been affected, Li Tingyue and the rest were also his fellow compatriots. He couldn't stand by and watch idly.

However, what could they do?

It was then when he thought of Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e!

He hurriedly turned towards the duo and asked anxiously, "Since you're capable of refining the Foundational Spirit Treasures and destroying the Black Pupil Ghostly Curse, does that mean you can help rid Guardian General Tingyue and the rest of the corruption?"

Li Tingyue similarly raised her head to look at them with a look of antic.i.p.ation and hope.

At this point the two of them were the final straws they could grasp at.

"Grand Commander Li Luo and Dragon Fang Envoy Jiang, if you can help us overcome this ordeal, the Dragon's Scale Guardians will do anything you tell us to." Li Tingyue expressed her stance clearly.

This meant that the two would become their leaders afterwards.

This signified great support as it meant that Li Luo would have twice the amount of sway within the Heavenly Dragon Five Guardian Armies.

Li Luo revealed a warm and gentle smile. "There's no need for Guardian General Tingyue to say so much. We are all brothers and sisters in arms. Now that something has happened to you, how can we sit by and do nothing?"

Li Tingyue understood what Li Luo was implying as she asked in surprise. "Do you have a solution?!" Jiang Qing'e tapped the tip of her snow white pointed chin as she spoke, "You might have been affected by the Black Pupil Ghostly Curse but it's effects are not as p.r.o.nounced yet. If Li Luo and I work together, we should be able to help you purge it."

Li Tingyue was incredibly moved as her squad members also revealed expressions of happiness. The position of Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e in their hearts had risen greatly.

The two then glanced at each other before informing everyone to sit. They then activated the fusion of the Acquired Resonance Flame and their light resonant power which enveloped the group.

"Guardian General Tingyue, none of you must resist. Please bear with any discomfort during this process." Li Luo reminded them.

They all anxiously nodded their heads.

After that they could feel the majestic and sacred light resonant power pouring down from above. Furthermore a transparent flame arose from the resonant power.

As the two energies lingered on Li Tingyue and the rest of the squad's body, the resonant power seemed to have transformed into a needle which shot into their eyes.

This sudden change shocked them as they almost instinctively summoned up their resonant power to block it. However they were reminded of Li Luo's reminder and thus suppressed any urge to resist.

As the needle made of light and flame pierced their eyes, they could feel severe pain spreading through their eyeb.a.l.l.s and their vision blurred. At that moment, they even thought they would turn blind.

It was at that point where they could all hear a piercing cry originating from their eyes. It was at that point where many moths started flying out of their eyes but as it tried to escape, it was instantly smothered by the light resonant power imbued with the Acquired Resonance Flame.

When Li Foluo and the rest saw how these strange moths kept flying out of Li Tingyue's eyes, they couldn't help but feel their hairs stand on end. It was terrifying.

After quite some time.

Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e gradually retracted their resonant power.

Li Tingyue and the rest also realized that their blurry vision was beginning to turn clear and everything was back to normal.

However when they looked at the water mirror summoned by Li Luo, they could see a black and fishy substance leaking out from the corners of their eyes. Additionally, their pupils had regained their original size.

An inexplicable sense of clarity and peace emerged from the depths of their heart.

"Guardian General Tingyue, the Black Pupil Ghostly Curse should have been exorcized from your bodies. It was fortunate that you had not been greatly exposed to the Foundational Spirit Treasures. Thus the corruption was not deep either. However this curse is extremely sinister and it seems to possess a high potential for growth. Once the seed has been planted, it will slowly mature before taking over your minds." Li Luo continued.

Li Tingyue bowed deeply as her gentle and beautiful face expressed her utmost grat.i.tude. "Thank you. This favor is something the Dragon's Scale Guardians will remember in our hearts."

At this point she felt very lucky. It was fortunate that they had spotted Li Foluo's signal for help and had come to their rescue. Otherwise this insidious curse would have continued to forment within them and when it finally matured, they would pay a heavy price.

It was at this point another piercing wail sounded out. When they turned over to see the source, they saw Li Foluo using his resonant power to seal Wen Xuan. She was berserkedly struggling before managing to break free.

Li Foluo hurriedly activated his resonant power and with a roaring boom, the ground cracked due to the sheer pressure as Wen Xuan was firmly held in place.

That said, Wen Xuan continued to resist mightily. She crawled along the ground with great difficulty, her hands dripping with black liquid as she scratched long grooves into the earth.

The groups' hearts turned chilly upon seeing this.

Even Li Luo frowned as he watched Wen Xuan struggle with all her might. It seemed as though she was trying to go somewhere?

Just what had summoned her?

Li Luo stood before Wen Xuan who then lifted her head. The originally pretty face was now distorted with ferocious rage as her pure black eyes dripped with a disgusting substance glared at him.

Li Luo stared at her abyss-like eyes as a chill ran through his heart. At that very moment, he felt as if a sinister gaze was staring at him through those very eyes, carefully sizing him up.
