Bracing herself, Gu Jiao walked to the s.p.a.ce between the two carriages.

Second Master Jing poked his head out of the window. “Hey, Liulang, why aren’t you getting on the carriage yet?”

Gu Jiao’s eyes darted around before she quickly introduced, “This is Duke An, this is Second Master Jing, and this is... my friend.”

Four pairs of eyes turned to look at each other simultaneously.

Duke An’s head didn’t move, while Second Master Jing widened his eyes with his fingers, as if trying to make up for his elder brother’s inability to turn his head.

Gu Jiao discreetly s.h.i.+fted her foot slightly in Xiao Heng’s direction.

A wave of killing intent erupted from Duke An.

Gu Jiao blinked and then moved her foot slightly toward Duke An.

Immediately, Xiao Heng’s killing intent filled the air.

Gu Jiao’s little foot was left with nowhere to rest, and she ended up performing an impromptu one-legged “golden rooster stance.”

Second Master Jing dragged Xiao Heng onto the Duke Estate’s carriage, and Gu Jiao was brought along as well.

Gu Jiao peeked at Lord Duke and signaled with her eyes.

Duke An’s gaze fell on Xiao Heng’s handsome face.

There was only one possibility—he knew that Gu Jiao was female.
