Breaking The Deal

An Xiaowan had a facial expression as if she was in much pain. She grimaced and then suddenly shrunk her neck back with her head lowered. She took a few steps backward.

She had an aggrieved look on her face, and her eyes frightened. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to say it.”

Tears started streaming down her face as she said, “Mr. Smith, Mr. Frank, I’m really sorry, I shouldn’t have come.”

Mr. Smith frowned and said, “Ms. An Xue, please. You are hurting her. Besides, everyone is ent.i.tled to their freedom and rights. She has the right to say whatever she wants.”

It felt as if Mr. Smith and Mr. Frank were distancing themselves.

On the other hand, Chen Yinian and An Xue’s faces were unpredictable.

An Xiaowan’s acting skills were definitely comparable with that of a movie queen!

Mr. Smith and Mr. Frank could not see through that weeping face. An Xue and Chen Yinian, however, were very clear of the truth behind An Xiaowan’s tears. A conniving person like An Xiaowan would never be so weak and pathetic.

It was good enough if she didn’t bully others.

Nevertheless, anything they said now would be of no use.

“No, it isn’t like that. She…” An Xue’s lips were trembling, as she desperately tried to explain but struggled to find the words.

No matter what they say now, Mr. Smith and Mr. Frank would never believe them.

Furthermore, they did not chase An Xiaowan away earlier. If An Xue were to chase her away now, it would only make it more evident that they had something to hide.

“All right, it’s getting late. I think you have some family matters to settle. Why don’t we meet at another time?” Mr. Frank stood up and gave a cordial smile as if they were just strangers.

“No problem, gentlemen. Rest a.s.sured, we will give you a full explanation the next time we meet.” Du Yunlan stood up as well and extended her hand.

The two gentlemen hastily shook her hand and walked out.

It was just the four of them left in the room.

An Xiaowan immediately dropped her dramatic persona, and it was replaced with a cold and stern look.

A bitterly conceited smile appeared on her beautiful face. Her eyes looked like they had hatred engraved into them.

An Xue was not any less charming.

An Xue’s hair was immaculately done, and the branded dress she was wearing was from the latest edition.

An Xiaowan took a step forward and spoke with a voice that was chilling to the bone. “The An family house is not for sale!”

An Xue’s face was twisted with fuming anger.

“Since when did you get a say! What right do you have? The An family has nothing more to do with you whatsoever!” An Xue took a deep breath and continued, “You b*tch, you dare come here today to wreck our deal. Can you even afford to pay for our losses!”

Chen Yinian held An Xue back to prevent her from doing anything impulsively.

Du Yunlan had long recovered from the frenzy, and her face was now calm. She was, after all, the most mature and experienced among them.

Looking at An Xiaowan, she said, “Wan, you behaved very irrationally today.” She paused before smiling. “Since you were so ruthless, then even I shall not be so considerate either.”

An Xiaowan narrowed her eyes.

Du Yunlan continued, “At first, I was still considering whether or not to sell the old house. But after seeing your performance today, I guess I will have to sell it after all.”

An Xiaowan’s eyes widened.

Chen Yinian frowned.

The An family’s old house? Du Yunlan wants to sell it?

It was the first time he heard of such a thing.

That is the An family’s old house, the An family’s roots. They cannot sell it, no matter what!

Even Chen Yinian, as an outsider, felt that the matter had gotten out of hand.

“Wan, why are you so impulsive?” Du Yunlan sat down again, her hand fiddling with the fur scarf around her neck. She smiled and continued, “If you kneel and beg us, we might consider letting this pa.s.s and keep the house after all.”
