Chapter 107 - Using the Golden Thumb Investment Card

In the next two days, s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t go anywhere. He bought a stack of books related to investment and self-studied. 

On Thursday, he read those books the whole morning and s.h.i.+ Lei decided to check out the situation at the Stock Exchange office. 

He listened to those ‘investment G.o.ds’ boast for the whole afternoon and continued to read the books at home. 

When Friday came, s.h.i.+ Lei felt that he more or less had grasped the basics after a few days of cramming. He decided to use the investment card to check out the potential investments he could make in the future. 

With hesitance and ambition, s.h.i.+ Lei studied the K line graph on his computer closely and earnestly wrote down the code for three different stocks. 

s.h.i.+ Lei thought that he he would begin his first investment through these three stocks. 

“Please remember this day which will be remembered by those who come after me. At 1PM sharp, I, s.h.i.+ Lei, the future investment G.o.d, will invest for the first time in my life!” 

s.h.i.+ Lei even went to the bathroom and washed his hands. He hesitated for a while and decided not to shower and change his clothes as it seemed to much for only having about 9,000 yuan as initial funds. 

s.h.i.+ Lei then unlocked his phone and tapped on the app with a golden thumb as the thumbnail for the first time in his life. 

This app was the one and only in this world. Except for s.h.i.+ Lei, there were no others who knew about such an overpowered app. 

It had a rather simple appearance which resembled of a search engine. There was a search b.u.t.ton on top with a few extra options at the bottom.  

s.h.i.+ Lei looked at it carefully and came to conclusion that the search bar was used to fill in the investment project and the options at the bottom was the setting for the future time period. 

He firstly set the time to next Friday at 2PM, then he filled the three stocks which he picked carefully with great potential. To prevent mistakes, s.h.i.+ Lei typed both the name of the stocks and its codes in and pressed the search b.u.t.ton beside ‘check profit’. 

The blue navigation line gradually increased from the left to the right. The page didn’t change much and it was similar to a search engine’s page. The only difference was that there was a search result sitting on the page by itself. 

The purchase price for that stock was 11.32 yuan. The investment card’s search engine was rather devoted in its job too. It did not only give s.h.i.+ Lei the price for the stock at 2PM next Friday, but it also gave him the open and closing quotation for this stock next Friday. 

But it didn’t matter which price he looked at, s.h.i.+ Lei’s heart was ice cold. 

“9.7 yuan? It dropped! I wasted one of my chances to search!” s.h.i.+ Lei was rather gloomy but he had two more chances. s.h.i.+ Lei firmly believed that out of the three stocks he chose, there will definitely be one that will raise like crazy to increase his own funds. 

He encouraged himself a few times and s.h.i.+ Lei believed that he was the future investment G.o.d once again. He still setted the time of 2PM next Friday and typed in the name and code for the next stock. As the result appeared on the screen, s.h.i.+ Lei widened his eyes and hoped to see a miracle. 

A miracle really did happen, except it wasn’t the miracle which s.h.i.+ Lei looked for. 

“Halted? Are you f.u.c.king kidding me? As the future investment G.o.d, how could I possibly pick a stock that’s halting next Wednesday?!” 

s.h.i.+ Lei rubbed his eyes furiously but the result on his phone did not change at call. It displayed that the stock will halt next Wednesday. 

The price of the halt on Wednesday was around 3.5 yuan and if s.h.i.+ Lei decided to purchase it now, the price was 4.8 yuan. 

“The first limit down was 48 cents, the second was 43 cents, the third wasn’t even 40 cents……” s.h.i.+ Lei calculated silently and couldn’t believe his eyes. 

“Which means, if I bought this stock today, after the opening next Monday, it will be a limit down, then continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, and halt after that?” 

“说好的股神呢？说好的我自己选择三只股票查询未来收益呢？为毛没有收益，全特么是负资产？权杖，你丫是不是在玩儿我？” 

“But, investment G.o.d? Wasn’t the deal for me to check the profits of the three stocks I picked? How come I’m not seeing any profits but negative funds? Scepter, are you f.u.c.king kidding me?” 

s.h.i.+ Lei mumbled to himself for a while and finally realised that not only was he not the future investment G.o.d, but he lacked the basic knowledge on how to pick stocks. 

“But, there’s the third chance. You should let me gain some on the third search. My request isn’t too much. I’m investing about 10,000 yuan and I’ll be happy to gain the profit of about 1,000 yuan!” 

s.h.i.+ Lei built up his confidence. He checked the K line graph on his screen again and made sure that it was a stock with great growth potential, he entered the time, name of stock and code for it firmly and closed his eyes tightly. 

He prayed silently. He had used all three chances for this month already and he hoped that he could gain something this time. 

After more than a minute, s.h.i.+ Lei plucked up his courage and opened his eyes. 

He looked and his phone and it…..

Oh G.o.d, it’s black! The phone would lock after half a minute of inactivity! 

s.h.i.+ Lei pressed the home b.u.t.ton and unlocked it with his fingerprint. A light flashed on his screen and the phone clearly displayed…… 

“Huh? Did I forget to press the search b.u.t.ton? But that shouldn’t be the case. If I didn’t press the search b.u.t.ton, how come the results are already out?” 

On the screen, the only result on screen was clearly displayed with the price of this stock next Friday at 2PM —— 7.23 yuan. It was exactly the same price as s.h.i.+ Lei’s purchase price and even the digital points didn’t change at all. 

s.h.i.+ Lei looked carefully. The stock will open next Friday morning at the price of 7.21 yuan with 7.24 yuan on the closing quotation and at the time which s.h.i.+ Lei chose, it was 7.23 yuan. 

“Wow! Really? Are you saying say even if I sell it on closing quotation, I only earned 10 cents for each stock? It’s even not enough for the service charge, isn’t it?” There were some benefits of five days’ cramming, at least he knew that fees were charged for service when buying and selling stocks.  

After having to face three failures, s.h.i.+ Lei was unhappy, extremely unhappy, so unhappy that he was going to explode!

The first stock, it was falling every single day. 

The second stock, after three limit downs it just halted. 

The third stock was the best. Except if he bought this stock, s.h.i.+ Lei would lose money for the service charge.

Someone was knocking on the door.

“Come in. Oh, right, I bought some slippers for you. They are in the shoe cabinet, get it yourself.” After he finished talking, he sat down behind his desk and frowned at the three stocks.
