Chapter 141: The Hazy Morning Part 4

Ding Jun thinks for a minute and asks, "If we disperse the crowd and call the swat team over, what if the criminals escape?  Wouldn't we be putting in all this big effort for nothing?"

"No." "No."  Both Su Mian and Han Chen say at the same time.

Su Mian looks up at the splendid hotel building.  The countless windows are like many pairs of eyes overlooking the crowd on the ground; cold and merciless.

Han Chen saw the seven balloons rise into the sky.  He saw the clown's smile hiding behind a window. It's an invitation from the seven-member organization.  They don't bother with small accomplishments; they are arrogant and conceited. They have been looking forward to this fight.  Therefore, they won't let the Black s.h.i.+eld Team's effort go to waste.

The clock ticks away.  Everyone is very quiet and observant.  It has only been two minutes, but it feels like it's been a very long time already.

And at this moment, Han Chen's cell phone rings.  He picks up with a cold look on his face. It's Qin Wen Long.

"What's the situation?" Qin Wen Long asks anxiously.

Han Chen reports what happened quickly and concisely.

"Okay," Qin Wen Long answers, "I've already ordered the troops and the swat team is on their way.  But whether it's calling for support or dispersing the crowd, it'll take some time. You'll need to act on your own, but please be careful."

"I understand."

Qin Wen Long changes the topic suddenly, "And also, something big happened just now.  A couple of minutes ago, we received a report and confirmed that the call was made by He Ya Yao, the CEO of Century Hotel.  He's in the hotel right now. He said that he received a threat letter signed by A.  He was very emotional and requested the police to go and take care of the situation.  He Ya Yao is a well-known person in the city, so our authorities are very concerned about his safety.  Please go take a look and see if there are any clues."

Han Chen has speakerphone on, so the others can hear everything clearly.  Su Mian feels her heart drop——it has come.

The majestic peninsula buildings, countless citizens, a glimpse of the clown, and a businessman who is being threatened……Although it's still not clear on what the seven-member organization is planning to do, it's obvious that their plan is being executed step by step.

Waiting for the Black s.h.i.+eld Team to enter.

The phone call ends.  Han Chen lifts his head and scans his eyes across the hotel building.  According to Qin Wen Long, CEO He Ya Yao is in a detached mansion in the hotel area, which is where he lives.

"Let's go take a look," Han Chen says.

The other three people have no objections.  Since the authorities have put their orders, they will definitely have to go take a look.  Moreover, it's possible that the seven-member organization's plan is hidden inside.

The four of them show their badges and enter the hotel swiftly.  The mansion that Qin Wen Long advised of is not far away. After pa.s.sing the main building, it's in the back with just an area of gra.s.s separating it.  It's around 11 am right now. The sun is s.h.i.+ning on the gra.s.s, reflecting on it. It looks so warm and peaceful.

They walk through the gra.s.s and look up at the mansion not far away.

"Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom——" a series of explosions shaking the ground with its thunderous sound.  It's below their feet and around them. It deafens Su Mian ears instantly. She can only see the mansion that is only a couple of meters away from them crumbling and falling toward them.  And the large area of gra.s.s below her feet starts to sink. She sees Xu Si Bai and Ding Jun fall. In the midst of this disaster, Xu Si Bai turns his body with all his might and reaches out his hand toward her.  His reflexes are unbelievable. Su Mian reaches over subconsciously in an attempt to hang onto him, but another hand beside her is even quicker and grabs her wrist. Su Mian's heart shakes. Her eyes meet with Han Chen's deep brown eyes carrying a sense of pain.  His body leans over and pulls her into his embrace to protect her.

Everything happens in a split second.

The four of them fall down quickly and into darkness.  And above ground, debris and smoke are everywhere, burying them as a result.

The unexpected explosion causes everybody at the hotel to be in shock.  Many people come running out of their rooms and watch the area of gra.s.s and the mansion collapse.  They are in a complete panic with their minds going blank.

"Call the police!  Hurry and call the police!" someone screams while running.

"There's a bomb!  Hurry and run!" the area is in chaos.  The feeling of fright drowns everybody's heart.

But no one knows that four officers are buried below.

And outside of the hotel, the square, and several commercial buildings, everybody is quiet.

They all heard the sound of an explosion.  People nearby could hear the thunderous sound; sounded like drums far away.  Smokes and sparks of fire can still be seen in the direction of the hotel.

"What's going on?"

"Did something happen?"

"Did something explode just now?  What was that sound? Did you see?"

……

Several thousands of people are actually all remaining quiet.  Only whispers of what happened can be heard in the corners of the square.  And the background music of the stores is still playing; crisp and clear and happy.

At this moment.

"Zzzzzzzzz——" the sound of electricity is heard coming from the crowd.

Many people raise their heads and see that on the LCDs hanging in front of many commercial buildings that were playing commercials have been lightened up like torches of fire in front of everybody.

They are all showing the same image.

A person appears.

It's a man.

A man who is wearing a clown mask with short black and soft hair.  He's wearing a very formal suit with a white s.h.i.+rt underneath. His eyes behind the mask are long and narrow carrying a hint of a smile.

"h.e.l.lo everyone, I am A."

The moment he speaks, everyone at the square is dumbstruck.  And Xiao Ya, who's standing at the hotel entrance is covering her mouth with her hand in shock.

The cheerfulness of A's voice grows even deeper, "The one thousand people here…oh, nope, it's probably around two thousand……You are all now being held hostage by the seven-member organization!"
