Chapter 2: Power to Alter a Dungeon

I was led by the professor to a room underneath the Demon King's castle where I'm standing in front of now.

"Is this the cla.s.sroom for the 'Special Cla.s.s'?" (Chrono)

"Ah, approximately ten or so individuals have gathered here. You're the last." (Prof Dante)

During the conversation with the Demon King, it seemed that the cla.s.s segregation between common cla.s.s and special cla.s.s had ended.

"You're the last to arrive. The orientation is about to start, you may take whichever seat you like as you enter." (Prof Dante)

"OK, I got it." (Chrono)

I opened the door and entered the cla.s.sroom.

The outer walls of the room were made of stone and a great number of pillars stretched across the room.

Long desks were lined up along the pillars.

As I walked across the cla.s.sroom, I felt that the design of the room was rather strange.

"That's him right?…. The monster who overpowered a Mother Core by himself, Chrono…" (Random Cla.s.smate A)

"His appearance is just like a human, and yet it feels like there's a strange aura surrounding him. It's weird.. yet awesome." (Random Cla.s.smate B)

My cla.s.smates who were seated earlier were whispering with one another.

Amongst my demonic being cla.s.smates, there's a dragonoid with dragonic scales and claws harder than steel and an eerie spell caster who looked like he specializes in curses. For now, I took the closest seat available.

"Good afternoon. That was quite the flashy performance, Chrono-san" (??)

A girl who was sitting at the same long desk called out to me.

I recognized the girl.

"You're Sophisan right? The vampire." (Chrono)

"Just call me Sophia. Chrono-san" (Sophia)

The vampire girl gave me a sweet smile. She is most likely the friendly type.

"Let's get along Sophia. By the way, it's nice of you to remember my name." (Chrono)

Since I don't possess any special characteristics as a demonic being, I shouldn't come up as  rememberable.

"You're this year's top student. Of course everyone would of know you. Rather, it is an honour that you would remember my name." (Sophia)

"Top? Me?" (Chrono)

"Of course. The professor mentioned that you're the top of this year, or more like in the entire history of the academy. There's no precedent of one person overwhelming an entire Mother Core." (Sophia)

Really!? I grabbed my head with my hands.

I wasn't expecting such a topic to be circulating around on my first day.

"Did anyone else create a dungeon with over one-hundred layers?" (Chrono)

"No. I was in second place with a 10 layer dungeon. You're the only one who's above me. I'm extremely grateful to be able to study closely alongside you." (Sophia)

Sophia's eyes were sparkling as she spoke.

Even if she had such high expectations of me, I'm clueless as to what I should do. As I was pondering over what to do-

"All right everyone. With this, everyone a.s.signed to the special cla.s.s has now gathered." (Prof Dante)

The professor spoke while standing in the middle of the cla.s.sroom. Without waiting for our reply, he then continued.

"For the special cla.s.s, I shall conduct the basic lessons. Lessons will include the foundations of demonic beings, control of demonic powers and dungeon management. Those who wish to learn better put their backs into it." (Prof Dante)

With the professor's speech, everyone in the special cla.s.s gave him their undivided attention.

"Every demonic being has the ability to shape their dungeon according to their imagination as they wish. That's why your imagination is extremely important for dungeon manipulation. It's depends on you on what kind of room to make, what shape your dungeon is, and what changes you'd like to take place.

Please remember this firmly in your head. Now, talking would get us nowhere, let's put this into actual practice." (Prof Dante)

The professor then pointed towards one of the pillars in the center of the room.

"Actually, this cla.s.sroom is part of my dungeon. As such, I'm able to manipulate it as I please. Break!" (Prof Dante)

The professor raised his arm as he chanted. At that moment,

-Crack!

A pillar which was connected to the floor and ceiling broke apart at the center.

Cheers resounded within the room.

"Everything within the realm of the dungeon is under your authority. Breaking it is as easy as breathing. By utilizing this power, we demonic beings are able to create large and wide dungeons. Of course, fixing it is also possible." (Prof Dante)

The professor approached the damaged pillar and gave it a light tap. The pillar then restored itself to its original state.

You are free to manipulate your dungeon however you like, whether to break it or to restore it.

As I do not wish to expand my dungeon even further, I don't see how this information is useful to me, however it would be fun to do some modification.

As I thought so, I continued listening to the professor's lecture.

"Well, as this is my dungeon, it's natural that I'd be able to break the pillar. If you become accustomed to the manipulation of the dungeon, you'd be even able to manipulate the dungeon of others. For today, I've prepared a pillar for each of you. Try breaking them." (Prof Dante)

The moment the professor gave his instructions, my cla.s.smates immediately scrambled towards their own pillars. Sounds of pillars breaking and chipping away reached my ears. And beside me,

"It broke…!" (Sophia)

Sophia was touching her pillar. There's a large crack propagating from where her hands were.

"Wow! As expected of Sophikun, the creator of an cla.s.s dungeon. Such talent!" (Prof Dante)

"Thank you very much, Professor!" (Sophia)

It seemed that it was true that one can manipulate the internal of the dungeon using their imagination alone.

Demonic beings have the innate powers to modify dungeons based on their imagination.

There's a thick stone pillar beside me.

I don't even know how what image I should have in order to manipulate it.

My hands were more likely to break if I were to punch it, and I would imagine that any weapons like sword and staff would snap if I were to use them to strike the pillar.

If I wished to destroy the pillar, I felt that some sort of explosive or something similar would be necessary. If I were to s.h.i.+ft the ceiling, maybe the pillar would come falling down.

"That's it!. If I misalign the ceiling, the pillar would come falling down." (Chrono)

As I was muttering to myself, one of the pillars,

-Krak!!

A pillar was twisted on the spot accompanied by a small explosion. It was as if the floor or ceiling was moving, pillars were breaking as if a load was pressed horizontally across it.

"What?" (Chrono)

And that was not all.

"Uwah!? Wha…what's happening. Out of the sudden the pillars over here are breaking!" (n.o.body A)

"It's the same here! Or more like, the ceiling is somewhat moving, right!" (n.o.body B)

Apparently, not only the pillar in front of me was breaking, but every single pillar in the room was breaking too.

"Hey, isn't the ceiling spinning with Chrono's location being the center?" (n.o.body C)

"Se…seriously, what the h.e.l.l is going on…..!" (n.o.body D)

It's strange. The ceiling really did moved. However, I do not think that with one word of mine it would actually end up this way. Or so as I thought and looked upwards,

"Chr, Chrono-kun, y…you're absolutely amazing. Despite being my dungeon, to manipulate it to this degree is," (Prof Dante)

The professor was giving me a gaze full of admiration.

Uhm, I did say that "it would break if the ceiling moved" and have an image of it as I mentioned it.

I never thought that it would really moved.

"That, that's not it, Professor!. All the pillars are crumbling, the ceiling is not going to fall onto us right?" (Chrono)

"Yes, that's right. It's OK Chrono-kun. Apart from the pillars, there are other structures which supports the ceiling. It won't immediately come cras.h.i.+ng down on us." (Prof Dante)

However, as the professor was saying that, he spread out this hands upwards displaying gestures which supports the ceiling.

"Uhm, Professor? What are you doing?" (Chrono)

"Well, the main supporting pillar are destroyed by Chrono-kun. If I don't support it, the ceiling will drop at a faster rate. Or rather I'd really appreciate it if all of you evacuate immediately." (Prof Dante)

The professor was sweating profusely from his forehead.

I felt extremely apologetic to the professor.

"Uhm, I'm really sorry about it." (Chrono)

"No, don't be. Being able to personally see your powers up close, I'd rather thank you for that." (Prof Dante)

"Is, is that so." (Chrono)

"Cla.s.s, the lecture on how to expand your dungeon is over for now. And I would like to end today's lecture! Please leave the cla.s.sroom immediately and start remodeling your own dungeons to suit your lifestyle." (Prof Dante)

"Yes sir! Please excuse us!' (All students)

And so we immediately left the cla.s.sroom.
