Primordial Blood Throne: Book 1 Chapter 50 – Li Shu
Edited by Owner – and here we are, the pledge upheld.
Zhang Yuan Kui died.
He died under Su Chen’s blade.
Because of the Origin Obstructing Powder, killing him did not require Su Chen to expend too much strength. However, it was the killing of another person that made him somewhat uncomfortable.
Although this wasn’t his first time killing a person but the last time when he killed Lin Xie, his focus was on escaping the scene and had no time to think about what he had done. This time, there was no need to be hurried. As he faced the dead man, the realization that he had killed a person surfaced in his mind.
Though the other party was a b.a.s.t.a.r.d, and although it was unlikely that anyone would find out about this, Su Chen still felt uncomfortable deep down in his heart.
“I will get used to it.” Su Chen leaned his back on a tree as he mumbled to himself.
He stared at the corpse, for no other reason, simply to allow himself to get used to and adapted to a scene drenched in blood.
After some time, the red that entered Su Chen’s vision no longer felt as striking as before. Su Chen walked over and removed the ring on Zhang Yuan Kui’s hand.
Holding the ring, Su Chen first tried to infuse a thread of Origin Energy into it. Seeing that there wasn’t any reaction, he carefully inspected the ring and pressed on the surface of it, and an independent s.p.a.ce appeared in front of him.
The s.p.a.ce wasn’t big, about three cubic meters. Within it were some flasks of wine, some clean clothes, a few pieces of crimson gold and some vials. Su Chen knew what was contained in one of the vials, the Origin Obstructing Powder that Zhang Yuan Kui tried to poison him with, and finally, a Ghost-Face Mask.
This was a storage ring but it was an Origin-less mortal ring. Su Chen sighed.
During the first time when he saw Zhang Yuan Kui and noticed that he didn’t have a bag on him, Su Chen had already suspected that he possessed a storage ring. This was further verified during the time when they were drinking, when Zhang Yuan Kui retrieved the Origin Obstructing Powder from his ring to poison him.
But unfortunately, it’s only an Origin-less Mortal Ring.
The so-called Origin-Less Mortal Ring refers to a type of storage ring that was made using the lowest grade of materials. It could only store normal items and was unable to contain any items that possessed Origin Energy. Anything that contained Origin Energy, such as Origin Armaments, Origin Stones or other materials that contains characteristics of Origin Energy, would cause the s.p.a.ce within the ring to be unstable, eventually collapsing it. Earlier on, the act of testing the ring by infusing Origin Energy was a very dangerous method that Su Chen used, fortunately he did not infuse too much and only did it for an instant before he retracted the energy, resulting in nothing happening.
Due to this reason, this type of storage ring was unable to carry any Origin Formations, therefore, it could allow anyone to access the ring by touching the switch on it.
Despite its limited s.p.a.ce, many restrictions, and lack of security, it still costed a hefty sum to purchase it. From Su Chen’s understanding, one would cost no less than six hundred Origin Stones.
Su Chen had wanted to buy one before but after weighing against his overall needs, he felt that possessing five hundred Origin Stones was more important at the time. Rather than buying a luxurious storage ring that had limited practicality, he rather put use the money to increase his strength. Although carrying a large pack can be inconvenient but it was still better than having one less Origin Skill to use during times of danger. Wh
en he earned more in the future, he would consider buying a storage ring.
In the end, he hadn’t even earned much, yet a storage ring had been presented to him for free.
Su Chen continued to inspect the ring repeatedly, confirming that there weren’t any markings that would link the ring to Zhang Yuan Kui. Truth to be told, these kind of items that could easily change owners were also not suited to have markings. He accepted it as his own without hesitation.
It was just nice that he had obtained several beast skins from his hunts over the past few days, now he could store them inside and make his life easier.
Of course, Su Chen did not put all his items inside, he still kept his daily necessities on his back, only turning his large bag into a smaller one. By doing so, when others were to glance at him, it would reduce the suspicion of him possessing some sort of storage ring, reducing the odds of inciting a greedy heart. Su Chen also tried changing the appearance of the Ink Pattern Battle Blade, creating a guise. While he wore an outer coat to cover his Purple Crystal Battle Armor to hide it. Only the Cloud Stepping Boots was a bit troublesome, the Origin Energy Formation on the boots did not allow it to be covered, doing so would affect its performance, therefore Su Chen could only leave it as it was.
When everything was done, Su Chen wore the Ghost-Face Mask and head towards Jade Valley.
This trip towards Jade Valley would be filled with people and unexpected situations. Su Chen wasn’t certain that he could act as a blind man all the way. If he wanted to prevent anyone from discovering that he was no longer blind, the best method was to hide his ident.i.ty.
That mask would be of great use to him.
—
Jade Valley was located within the forest at the eastern side of Deep Red Mountain Range. It was a three days journey from the Deep Red Great Canyon.
Deep Red Mountain Range was the boundary line between humans and beast race territory. South of the Great Canyon belonged to humans while the north of it belonged to the beast race.
All along, Origin Masters had been active within the southern part of Deep Red’s forest. What they hunted were also Fiend Beasts that had crossed the canyon.
No one dared to go to the northern side, that place was a real beast paradise and a human h.e.l.l.
Being three days distance away from the Deep Red Great Canyon means that the Jade Valley was in the eastern part of the central region of the mountain range.
It also meant there were more Fiend Beasts and their levels would also be higher.
After travelling for two days, Su Chen finally reached Jade Valley.
This was a valley filled in green; the whole area was covered in lush green cypress. No wonder they called it with the t.i.tle of Jade.
A green winding stream flowed down from the forest in the distancing, eventually forming a long brook.
The brook and valley melded into one, creating a beautiful scenic view that combined mountain and water.
However, there was a life form that was currently destroying this beautiful scene and peaceful view.
Humankind.
Within the valley, there were people moving about. With a look, there were at least a few hundred individuals working busily within the mountain valley.
They searched along the brook, using their sieves to constantly filter the riverbed sand, searching for something within; some of them were holding onto pickaxes and began to dig into the mountain wall; while others were currently entering the various mountain caves, searching for any Star Silver within them. They were covered in mud and filth for the sake of earning a fortune.
Among these people were Origin Masters, martial artists, hunters, and even ordinary humans.
Seeing this scene, Su Chen became slightly stupefied.
“G.o.d d.a.m.n it, when did news spread to such a level?” not far away from Su Chen, a martial artist with a huge beard cursed.
It was apparent that he also just reached Jade Valley, bearing dreams of earning a fortune while coming here. However, his happy dream was destroyed at the sight of so many others digging already.
There were countless people plowing here, some knew their stuff, while some didn’t, but all of them had an unending thirst for wealth and came here to try their luck. Some tried the river, some tried digging the mountain walls, and some were excavating caves. All sorts of methods were being used. What was left was to see whose luck was better. Occasionally, someone would shout “Found it”, attracting a swarm of people to gather, causing quite the scene. Even more of them chose to keep quiet when they found Star Silver and acted that they had discovered nothing.
“I say, isn’t Star Silver a mineral ore? Why search for it in the water?” someone curiously asked.
“That’s because it wasn’t a rich Star Silver Vein but a poor Star Silver Vein,” A voice replied.
Everyone turned towards the voice, the person who said it was a wizened looking, skinny middle-aged man with whiskers and a pair of sly-looking eyes. His built wasn’t large, and coupled with his beard and eyes, he had some semblance of a rat.
“Rich vein? Poor Vein? What’s the difference?” the big bearded martial artist asked.
The person ignores him and looked over at Su Chen. “Star Silver Ores from rich veins are larger and gathers within mountains, it will require mining to harvest. A poor Star Silver vein on the other hand produces much smaller ones that could be only as big as a fingernail. This place was a poor vein, due to an earthquake that happened a few hundred years ago, the mountain body cracked and peeled, causing a large amount of mountain rocks to fall into the river. Therefore, there’s ores in both the mountain and the water. The ores within the mountains were few but concentrated, while the ones in the water were many but scattered, therefore, choosing which place to look for Star Silver had become a personal choice.”
“Hey motherf*cker, this daddy is the one who asked, why did you tell him instead!” The big beard martial artist felt enraged at being ignored and made a grab at the man.
The man immediately hid behind Su Chen and pointed at the martial artist. “You dare to make a move on Lord Origin Master, aren’t you too daring?”
Origin Master?
The big beard was stupefied.
The next moment, his whole body flew fifty meters away and landed heavily onto the ground.
The surrounding people, after seeing this, immediately lowered their heads, acting busy and ignoring what had happened.
In a land where you often fought over wealth, these kinds of incidents happened daily and weren’t rare. As long as no lives were lost, most people would not bother about it.
What’s more, the person who attacked was obviously an Origin Master.
No matter where you were from, Origin Masters belonged to the upper echelons of society.
After throwing the dull-eyed martial artist, Su Chen curiously asked, “How did you know that I was an Origin Master?”
The man smiled. “To be able to reach Jade Valley alone, other than Lord Origin Masters, how could anyone else achieve this feat? What’s more, the pair of boots you are wearing.”
As expected, his boots had exposed him. Su Chen wasn’t surprised. However, to be able to notice him in a short time and notice the uniqueness of his boots to confirm his Origin Master ident.i.ty, this person could be considered to have rather good observation skills.
“Who are you, what are you doing here?” Su Chen asked.
“My lord must be here to mine Star Silver, right? This lowly one is called Li Shu, I had been in Jade Valley for several days and am very familiar with the situation within the valley. For the price of only one Origin Stone, this lowly one can offer his services for five days.”
