Chapter 1 A Change in the Palace

The storm was going to invade the big palace. The wind violently opened the window, so that curtains in the palace were lifted and the air was filled with a dark breath.

There was a woman who was powerless, and she wore a golden silk pleated dress with a phoenix stretching out its wings embroidered on its skirt. She fell to the ground. The woman was the queen of the Tiandou dynasty, Bai Yao.

She braced one hand on the ground. The other hand, which held the imperial edict, trembled.

"No! This is not true! The man I love most, who had the highest rights in the Tiandou dynasty—Mo Xi—he wants me to die?!”

She was in disbelief. This imperial edict must be fake! "Colluding with the An King" and "deliberately rebelling" were all lies!

She was not familiar with the An King, Mo Kai. Why would she be guilty of collusion? The emperor must have made a mistake!

While her heart was still immersed in her own pain and doubt, the entrance to the palace was pushed open with a squeak.

The coming person was her dear sister, Bai Yu. She wore a big red palace dress and heavy makeup. There was still a ridiculous smile on her face.

She was followed by a maid of honor and several guards with swords. The maid's hands held a tray. Upon it sat a gla.s.s of wine.

"Queen Sister, this is the last time I will call you," Bai Yu said, standing in front of Bai Yao. With a swagger and arrogance to her demeanor, she said proudly, “The second son of the emperor Mo Kai was nominated to become the An King, but still was not satisfied. Now he’s even one to go so far as to rebel. The traitors he worked with and himself have all been killed. The An King’s palace was sealed up. The guards found your letter colluding with An w.a.n.g in the palace. Sister, you are so bold! Colluding with the rebels is a capital crime. The emperor recalled his old affection for you. He’s abolished your position as queen. Now, leave your body completely. Take this gla.s.s of poison.”

Hah! Bai Yao sneered in her heart. Cared about old affection? If he cared about that, why would he want me to die? Why didn't he believe me?

Letter? What letter? Looking at the smiling face of Bai Yu, Bai Yao's heart suddenly jolted with shock!

She stepped forward and grabbed Bai Yu’s collar and indignantly asked, "It was you, wasn’t it? You’ve had an interest in imitating my brushwork since we were young. Were those letters written by you?"

Bai Yu pushed Bai Yao to the ground with one hand and tidied up her collar. She bent down and whispered into her, "That's right. I wrote it. But this is also the intention of Brother Mo Xi. He married you only because you were a direct daughter of the premier. Now his throne is stable, so what's the point of keeping you around anymore?

"No, I don't believe it; I want to see him personally!" Bai Yao shook her head and looked surprised. She didn't believe that she was just a chess piece. How could Mo Xi lie to her?

"Brother Mo Xi won’t come to see you. You are just a person who is dying. Seeing you will only be looking at an eyesore.”

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. After you die, this harem will be mine! I am his favorite woman! Sister, you don't know how long I've been looking forward to this day! Hhha!” Bai Yu looked at Bai Yao’s face, as if the worse she spoke, the more she could resolve her hatred.

Yes, she hated Bai Yao.

Bai Yao was a direct daughter of the premier, high up on a pedestal.

And she was just a daughter of a concubine, who could only follow her from behind. And Bai Yao wanted her lover, Mo Xi. No, absolutely not! Brother Mo Xi is mine. He can only be mine!

She did not accept defeat; she did not want to give up Mo Xi, and she knew that one day she had to step on Bai Yao's feet to get what she wanted! Fortunately, Brother Mo Xi liked her, and had told her that marrying Bai Yao was just a convenient arrangement.

Bai Yao sat on the ground. Wind howled outside the house. For a moment, thunder rang. What followed was a rush of rain. Sadness came from her heart; tears flowed from her eyes. It took her a long time to digest Bai Yu's words.

Forget it. Who said that the king had recalled old feelings? Even so, he was an ungrateful person. Her heart was tired, hurt, and no longer loved anymore. . .

Bai Yao figured it out. She stood up firmly and spoke calmly. "I don't want this queens.h.i.+p; I'll give it to you. "

Then she held the gla.s.s. Drank it down, poisoned wine flowing into her throat. She slowly fell down, like an injured b.u.t.terfly that fell from sky.

I had been eager to be collected by one person in my life. Properly placed, carefully preserved. Let me not be bullied. Don't let me be homeless. All I wanted was a lifetime of two people. But that second person won’t be Mo Xi.

As an emperor, he had no lack of water, so how could he only take a ladle to drink?

Moreover, Mo Xi didn't love her, did he? Perhaps it had just been wishful thinking after all.

Bai Yao was smiling; a line of tears flowed down from the corner of her eye. She thought of forgetting, and that this was good to her. She felt at ease, and free. . . The moment she closed her eyes, the rain stopped briefly. The dark clouds gradually spread out in the dark sky. There were a few purple clouds that gradually appeared. The sun shone through the clouds, laying warmly on her.

It was an unnatural vision, that purple color. The sun s.h.i.+ned; it seemed like something good would happen. . .

Office of the Counselor in Chief, Zhu Yun Xuan.

Her head ached with a dull pain. Sitting up from the bed, she looked around the room in a daze.

Looking at it, her beautiful eyes opened wide. Wasn’t this my former boudoir? Didn't I drink poisoned wine and die? What’s going on?

Bai Yao moved on the bed; she felt that her body was a little different. It seemed that something was flowing. It was spiritual power! She suddenly realized that she had practiced witchcraft in her previous life.

There was still some spiritual power in her body.

She was a direct daughter of the premier, and had received lots of love from family. However, when she was born, a good monk said that she had a lot of hostility in her body. But this was a blessing.

The monk told her parents to let Bai Yao practice witchcraft after she became an adult. This was in order to resolve her evil spirit. Her parents believed that and when she was grown up, they allowed her to learn witchcraft.

Unfortunately, in her past life, she had not believed in those words. Being too stubborn, she wasn’t willing to practice witchcraft seriously. So, in terms of witchcraft, she was unskilled. Because her witchcraft was not refined, she couldn't protect herself from being killed by others.

However, she also had to thank what little witchcraft she had learned. That was why, because her  body had spiritual power, she was able come back to life anew.

Very good! Since G.o.d has given me another life, then I will not waste this opportunity!

"Miss, you finally woke up. You’ve been in a coma for two days and two nights!”

Her maid, Lianyi, came into the room with a basin of water. Seeing that her lady was awake, she quickly put down the washbasin, ecstatic.

“Lianyi, why was I in a coma for so long?” Bai Yao asked. Now she needed to know what had happened when she was reborn.

"Miss, when you came of age, your parents tried to send you to Mt.Wushan. You didn't want to come to this mountain, so you b.u.mped into the pillar and were unconscious for two days and two nights! You scared me to death." As she answered Bai Yao's confusion, she swept a tear from her cheek.
