Hone To Issho No Isekai Seikatsu Chapter 24

~ Adventurer's life Day 24 (Wed) Noon ~ Comnes Town – Adventurers Guild – Lobby

As with yesterday, after depositing our materials and creating potions by the guild, we head over to the lobby.

For a moment, I had a thought about whether we should hunt once more at the west, but at the current pace we're going, it'd be best to stop for now.
I'd rather not to rush things over with this.

And so, while me and Benedetta were heading to sit at the usual s.p.a.ce, I spotted a bearded man by the reception desk.

"Gerin! So you finally came back!"
"Ooh, Nemo! That's right, I've finished the request… !? … What is that… That's quite the appearance you have there."

It's been a while since we last met… and that's you're first question ask of me?
But, I guess that can't be helped given the way how I look…

Compared to the leather armor I used to wear, I now wear some sort of tribal looking fur robe with some ordinary clothes underneath.
And then, behind my back is an un polished bone s.h.i.+eld that I carry around with me. Around my waist wasn't a sword, but some sort of unidentifiable dagger wound up by cloth… since I used ‘Plating' onto the robe it now has a metallic color to it, and this was supposed to make it seem much less conspicuous…

Gerin, on the other hand, is wearing a grey overcoat with what appears to be fur armor underneath. On his back is a two handed sword. A spitting image of a warrior.

"Really now. You actually became a support cla.s.s… I know it's been a while now, but I'm still quite shocked."
"For me, I'm much more shocked how you turned out into a successful warrior."
"Now what's that supposed to mean!"

I was half joking, but half serious.
I've been quite blessed with the divine protections I received in various ways, but seeing Gerin made me remember the times I was a warrior back in the game. It's a complicated feeling.
Then again, being able to progress well on some divine protections not many really know about is pretty fun, not to mention having the ability to command a group of skeletons is nice too.
All the more given their surprising strength in combat.

"You got any plans right now?"
"Sorry about that, but I don't have any free time to relax right now… I'm gonna have to head back to the south again."
"… I see."

… Since Gerin didn't really have that much left to spare, we only had time to give the gist of what happened since the last couple of weeks.
After seeing each other off, I head back to Benedetta.

"That person you were talking to, did you know him?"
"Yeah, we were colleagues back in our time as guards. He got lucky that he managed to get a job on escorting caravans to the south."
"… Speaking of which, didn't you also used to be a warrior… I think I recall you mentioning it once."
"That was before I became an adventurer. I got different divine protections after that."
"No well, I already figured that out, but how do I say this… you look a lot more like one."
"Ah, you thought so too. No matter how you look at it, this equipment looks just like that. Your dismantling is pretty fast too so I kinda wondered about it. Perhaps… did you happen to come here from the north?"
"Is it really that bad?"
“… I wonder, would this place be alright to talk about it…”

Even though this would be a time where there wouldn't be much people here in the guild, thus still isn't wouldn't be a good place to talk about such things.
However, even Benedetta

Although this is a time when there are only a few people in the guild, it still doesn't seem like it would be a good idea to talk about it here. However, it seemed like Benedetta wanted to say some things..

… After a while of thinking, she gave me an idea.

"Say… Can we continue the conversation tonight at the inn where I'm staying at?"
"Fine by me."

Oh? It was already decided right away.

~ Adventurer's life Day 24 (Wed) Noon ~ Comnes Town – Weapons Shop – Adonnis' Blade

…… I came with Benedetta to Adonis' shop.
Before heading to the inn, it seems like she wanted to buy some equipment first.

“h.e.l.lo! Adonis!”
“Oh! Nemo. So you came here and missy too. Welcome!”
“h.e.l.lo.”

She gave a small bow.

"Today, we're here to buy her some armor."
“What kind do you want?”
“First, I want a round s.h.i.+eld with an iron frame to it like the one I bought before.”

… The thing to keep in mind right now is the s.h.i.+eld that Skeleton J has at the moment… It was easy to use, and was an excellent s.h.i.+eld that had both the lightness and durability to it.
What helped me survive from the forest wolf's onslaught at the time was thanks to the strength of that s.h.i.+eld.

Along the way here, Benedetta was asking for some advice on what sort of equipment would be suitable for her. As a result, we ended up deciding on a round s.h.i.+eld.
… I've known about the Miko's skills, and given that she already had knowledge about the equipment penalties, she looked to me for some information on what sort of equipment she is able to take.

In the game, support cla.s.ses were generally limited to using round s.h.i.+elds. The same applies for 'Shrine Maidens'… Even during my time playing, there were a number of them I saw that used round s.h.i.+elds as their form of protection.

Furthermore, although there were penalties such as lack of vision from wearing helmets or loss in dexterity when using gauntlets, when it comes to equipment such as boots and leggings, there aren't any penalties applied from it.
I'm guessing it would probably be the same in this world…

"So, what's next?"
"After this, I'd like some boots that are little more heavier. It'd be good if it can at least cover the s.h.i.+ns."

Benedetta headed in front and told so to me…

In the end, she managed to get an iron framed round s.h.i.+eld, a Nausicalike leather cap, leather boots, and a metal breastplate like she wanted.
From what I remember, that sort of breastplate would be something that would penalise her use of skills, but she can always remove it quite easily when need be… From what I was told, it seems to be an attempt to get her divine protection changed to a warrior somehow.

Seeing that it could be a new possibility that can give her hope, I'd like to at least support her attempt.
It's a very difficult road after all.

… And so, now comes my turn to do some shopping.
I faced over to Adonnis' direction.

"You still need something?"
"You wouldn't happen to have some broken weapons lying about do you? Preferably ones that are quite cheap."
"You're gonna use that for it?"

As expected of Adonnis. Seems like he had the same idea.

"Yeah, there might be times when I'd like to 'Plate' some equipment while out there."

In response, Adonnis went to the back, and came back with a broken mace on hand.

"This one's made of metal, but it's been broken and can't be used anymore. It'll be cheaper to buy this compared to a second hand."

It'd be cheaper than even skeletons B and C's weapons. There wasn't any reason for me to hesitate.
I've been saving quite a lot recently though, and having 16 of my summons deal a lot of the hunting, I've managed to procure a large sum.
Let's not forget to mention about the potions.

However, I don't think one mace would be enough to apply 'plating' on our equipment, so I asked if I could have another one something similar.
… Good thing I have quite a bit of cash on me…

Once that's done, I got some leather straps from Adonnis so that I can finally tie my viking-like helmet together.

~ Adventurer's life Day 24 (Wed) Afternoon ~ Comnes Town – Inn – Nessos' Temptation

After finis.h.i.+ng what we had to do by the weapons shop, we head over to the inn that Benedetta's been staying in.

"A~ra~, welcome back, little Benedetta. And with a man too? How unexpectedly bold of you."

… Why is it, the owner of this inn a drag queen with long 'heavy metal' hair and leather jeans?
Looking at him more closely, his neck and shoulder muscles are amazingly large, he gives off a similar vibe as my golem… In a bad sense.

"I'm sorry, but I'd like to ask for a double room for today."
"Oh is that so. Well then, I'll guide you to the innermost room."

Barbara, is what the inn keeper's name is, lead the way as we continue to follow, staring at its huge macho back…

After that, once I finished making my withdrawal from the ‘Bulbul's Burrow' , I made my way back to the new inn and had a look around at the double room I'll be occupying.
There's an extra room where you can place your personal belongings in, and the two beds provided here are much better than the ones in 'Bulbul's Burrow'… Even then, with the cost split between us, the pricing for each person is only about 40% more, even though it's quite close to the centre of town.

"Yeah, this inn is the sort of place popular with female adventurers who usually deals in gathering requests."

… Seems like, the novice female adventurers would have a rumour spread among each other about this place.
Because of the low pricing, and that the existence of that muscley drag queen would keep the bad male adventurers away, this inn would be quite well received among the female community… The only problem is that any other male adventurer would be keeping their distance from here.

And since there's not many female adventurers here that are able to reliably hunt sh.e.l.led rabbits, despite the favorable conditions, there are still a number of accommodations available.

(… If the innkeeper was just a little more normal, then there wouldn't be a moment where there would be an empty room…)

Not that I'm complaining though… I'll keep my mouth shut about this.

"… Say, Benedetta. I've been wanting to know what happened to you in the past for a while now… Though it's fine not to tell me too."

I finally said it bluntly.
This isn't the sort of conversation I wanted to bring up in the guild or hunting grounds.

Noticing my serious expression, Benedetta gave a slight hesitation before looking up to my face and answering.

"… Even if it was just a bit, I feel I know you well enough. Alright, I'll tell you…"
