Lin Fan received the phone sluggishly due to fatigue.

he felt nervous, what should he tell his mother, should he tell her how he fell down from a mountain ridge onto a forest and somehow survived and met cultivators and how one of them is now in the dead's land or maybe tell her how he was almost killed by the other guy.

if he said that, his mother would surely think he might have hit his head viciously while he was falling and she would definitely get him a Head MRI

"Yes?" a weak voice filled the other end, Lin Fan couldn't help but feel down-cast at his mother's weak and sad voice.

"Mother, it's me, Lin Fan"

"Lin'er! where have you been and why weren't you answering your phone?!" his mother's worry was apparent in her voice.

"An accident happened to me, it's a long story mum, telling it over the phone is inconvenient"

"An accident! are you fine?!"

"Nothing too serious, I am currently in a hospital"

"Tell me the address and its name I will immediately come "

"Alright, give me a second"

Lin Fan looked at the nurse and asked her about his mother's enquiries, and then told his mother about said information.

"I will be arriving shortly with your father then,"

she told Lin Fan to rest until his mother arrives, he should be sleeping now to help his body recapture,

he didn't feel like sleeping, afraid he might return to that dark land where he had no control of his body but a perfect recollection of the dream, unfortunately, the nurse gave him an Aspirin injection to reduce the pain which made him feel sleepy as well,

he couldn't resist, feeling drowsy, Lin Fan slowly shut his eyes.

A pair of eyes were slowly opening, a hazy but familiar figure filled his vision, as his eyes slowly got accustomed to the lighting the figure became recognizable.

Lin Fan smiled and looked at this mother who was sitting beside him on a wooden chair, the hospital wasn't a fancy one, naturally, the furniture was also of a lower quality.

his mother was 43 this year, a lady which the workings of time greatly affected her life, but unconditionally still brought him up to the best of her ability, trying her best to not let him feel as though he is in need of something, but in the end, fate is cruel.

his father being job-less made the household's burden lie on his mother's shoulders, he requested from his mother to allow him to find a part-time job but she intently refused, telling him to focus on studying.

his mother was named Jasmine, an English woman who met his father when he was on a vacation to London, they fell in love and after a few years of knowing each other they decided to get married, and she came back with his father to China to continue on with their life here.

Jasmine felt the blanket move slightly which she in reflex looked in at her son who was sleeping soundly a second ago.

"You woke up?"

"Mhm" nodded Lin Fan while looking at his mother.

Lin Fan looked around the room but didn't find his father, "Where is dad?"

"He is having a smoke outside, he couldn't bear the anxiety anymore"

Jasmine looked at her son and asked: "Aren't you going to explain to me what happened now?"

Lin Fan looked at his mother and said "I fell of the mountain range while returning home"

"YOU WHAT?!"

"Uhm...I feel of "

"I heard what you said! how did you fall?!"

"Someone stole my phone and I ran after him, he then kicked me and while trying to dodge I tripped by accident and fell,"

Jasmine looked at him silently and look as if she was looking at an idiot.

"W-What?"

He saw his mother put her head in her hands and started sobbing while mumbling something, and if his ears didn't fail him it was "I raised an idiot".
