Utter darkness filled this place, a dark void stretching to what appeared to be an endless path of emptiness.

a non-corporeal body of a young man seemed to be lying on the ground which made it look like he was floating in this infinite void.

nothing truly remarkable was of mention about this young man who appeared to be in deep slumber.

the young man seemed to be on the brink of waking up as his eyelids were slowly but surely uncovering those deep black eyes.

unfortunately, those eyes were of no use in this dark void, all that could be seen is darkness everywhere.

the young man gradually stood up from the ground, a lost look on his eyes.

feeling a weird call from a certain direction that he couldn't see.

he felt nothing in this void except for this feeling.

the young man started walking steadily in the direction of the call, a long walk that seemed to have no end.

as the young man walked further and further, the darkness of the void started to cease gradually, replacing it a white hazy colour.

the more he walked, the more the white colour became dominant.

the young man suddenly stopped.

a flame the size of his thumb's nail was flickering slowly and gently in the already lightened void, strangely the flame's colour was white.

the young man felt the argue to touch the flame, without the fear of being burnt the young man extended his hand in an attempt to touch the flame.

just as his hands were about to touch it...

"NOOO!" Lin Fan shouted out his lungs while he sprang from the bed he was currently lying on.

after shouting Lin Fan was surprised to find out that he was not in the forest anymore, but in a wide room that has quite a number of beds, with quite a bit of people occupying some of them.

everyone present in the room was looking at Lin Fan weirdly.

"what's with you kid. why are you shouting, had a nightmare?" said an elderly man who was currently resting on one of the beds.

Lin Fan looked at the man not knowing what to say so he just nodded.

"you're still waking up screaming like a little girl because of a nightmare? tsk tsk, man up already" said the man in a joking manner.

Lin Fan looked at the elderly man in silence for a second and replied "I'll do my best then"

he observed the room while thinking to himself 'a hospital ward? how did I come here' thought Lin Fan feeling puzzled

remembering his dislocated shoulder, Lin Fan felt that it was back in place, but the pain was still there, albeit slightly better.

"what happened to you kid?" wondered the elderly.

Lin Fan looked at the elderly and sighed in his mind, the elderly question reminded him of the unbelievable scene he witnessed.

"It's a long st-" Lin Fan stopped suddenly.

'I remember everything? but didn't that devil say he would erase my memories, he didn't look like he was bulls***ing'

if s.h.i.+ Song was here right now he would have been undoubtedly shocked speechless, 'Mind Haze' had only two possible outcomes, either the target

loses his memories successfully or he becomes a vegetable and only cultivators can resist this type of curse, a mortal that is able to resist it is unheard of.

"if you don't feel comfortable then" the elderly didn't push the matter as he felt it wasn't his business anyway

"when does the doctor visit this ward" asked Lin Fan.

"the doctor? he comes every day twice, one at the beginning of his s.h.i.+ft and the other before he leaves, he should be arriving soon for his second visit"

'good then, I need to call mom and dad as fast as possible, they must be dying of worry, it would be weird if they didn't file a report to the police station by now'

a nurse walked over to his bed while smiling and asked: "How are you feeling ?"

"my shoulder hurts quite a bit, other than that everything is fine " replied Lin Fan

"it's only natural for your shoulder to hurt after being dislocated, don't worry though, it will be back to normal in a few weeks" consoled the nurse.

smiled Lin Fan and nodded.

"how did I arrive here?" wondered Lin Fan.

"two gentlemen brought you here today morning, apparently you were lying unconscious in the Western Forest" said the nurse puzzled at what the young man could have been doing at the forest, but she didn't ask.

grat.i.tude filled Lin Fan's heart, not knowing what could have happened to him if he stayed there.

"I need to call my parents please."

"sure, tell me the number."
