WMMM – Chapter 32 Part 4: Standing up for justice

"The company regulation stipulates that a leave request needs to be submitted a day in advance. As the director's secretary, he knew it and still went against it. He will have his salary deducted as stipulated in the company regulation." Without turning his head, Lu He Nian replied coldly, then he directly entered his own office.  

w.a.n.g Jing was stunned. Although Lu He Nian had a cold temperament, he was very lenient to his subordinates, especially towards the secretaries he was in contact with day and night. It's still early in the morning, why is the director already so angry?

w.a.n.g Jing was still trying to figure out why Lu He Nian was angry when he saw Yun Rong come out from the elevator hastily. Lu He Nian was about to close the door when the wooden door was held by a pair of delicate hands.

"Second brother, don't be angry." Yun Rong said in an aggrieved tone as she entered the office. She did a good deed and saved someone, but ended up getting her salary deducted. How could she not feel wronged?

Seeing the grievous expression on the young lady's face, Lu He Nian couldn't help softening his tone. "Actually, you did well today, I don't blame your intention."

"Then why do you want to deduct my pay?"

At this time she is still talking about her pay? Lu He Nian was both angry and amused.

"Yun Rong, you come from Dan Qiu Mountain so you don't understand. There are a lot of people with evil intentions in the city. Although you have good intentions, you might end up in danger. I don't want you to be harmed because of it."

Yun Rong opened her mouth, yet she didn't know what to say. The current humans were indeed not as good and simple as the humans several thousand years ago. Moreover, she felt warm in her heart. She never cared about what other people said, but she unexpectedly felt very happy hearing Lu He Nian's words of care towards her.

She smiled brightly and asked: "Second brother, then can my pay not be deducted?"

"Not deducted!" Lu He Nian ground his teeth. In the end, he didn't have the heart and exasperatedly poked the young lady's forehead.

Yun Rong smiled even more brightly, and her eyes shone as if filled with stars. "Second brother, thank you."

However, she felt a bit bad at the same time. Lu He Nian was just expressing concern towards her and she had indeed been late to work, yet he still treated her so well and didn't deduct her pay. She felt like she should do something that made him happy to thank him.

But what could make the director happy? Yun Rong frowned as she thought of things the humans might enjoy, when suddenly an idea crossed her mind.

"Second brother, let's go eat dinner together tonight!" What could be more enjoyable than eating the delicious food cooked by humans?

Lu Hen Nian was taken aback by this unexpected proposition. Although he wasn't sure what was going on in the young girl's mind, he felt it was a good idea, especially after seeing her childlike appearance with a pair of bright eyes. "Alright. Is there anywhere you want to go eat?"

Yun Rong was at a loss. Except for the places the director had taken her to, she didn't know any. But then she recalled a show she had seen on TV the other day and said excitedly: "Can we go to a French restaurant?"

The single memory of the delicious dishes shown in that cooking program was enough to make her drool. However, although her intention this time was to treat Lu He Nian, she was completely oblivious to how much a dinner at a French restaurant could cost.

That evening after getting off work, Lu He Nian drove Yun Rong to a high-end French restaurant located at the riverside of Hais.h.i.+ river. He led her to a private room and they started looking at the menu. Since the menu was filled with words she had never seen, she ended up ordering the same as Lu He Nian. The director looked so elegant, how could someone like him possibly order something that was not delicious?

As they were coming to their private room, Yun Rong had smelled many delicious fragrances. She couldn't wait for the roasted duck they had ordered to arrive! Meanwhile, she observed the restaurant's decoration. It was very different from what she was used to seeing.

However, she was a bit skeptical. On their way here, she had seen some rooms where there was only a candle to light up the room. How could a good restaurant allow their customers to eat in the darkness? Did they not make enough money to pay the electricity bill? Fortunately, their room was brightly lit by the lamp hanging from the ceiling, otherwise, she would have already asked the director to change restaurants.

"Monsieur, mademoiselle, your roasted duck." The waiter served the dishes and professionally poured them a gla.s.s of wine, then left after asking whether they needed anything else. Yun Rong could not wait to start eating that fragrant roasted duck, and Lu He Nian amusedly watched as she savored the crispy skin covering the outer meat. 

Apart from when Lu He Nian prevented Yun Rong from drinking any wine saying that she was still too young, they didn't talk much throughout the meal. Yun Rong was extremely focused on her food. She discovered that not only the French main courses were delicious, but French desserts were also extremely tasty. She was so entranced by food that she didn't even notice when Lu He Nian got up to pay for the meal.

By the time she came back to her senses, they were already taking a stroll at Hais.h.i.+ riverside. It was an extremely calm and peaceful night, contrasting with the other night when the incident with Lin Xiao Man took place.

They quietly conversed as a soft breeze blew. Yun Rong was in a very good mood. She looked like a satisfied cat after having her meal. Lu He Nian couldn't help but think she looked very cute.

He stopped walking. A few steps later, Yun Rong noticed and also stopped, turning to look at him with curiosity.

"Yun Rong, you…" Lu He Nian started talking, but then stopped. He didn't know how to continue his words and was a bit confused. Just a moment ago, what did he want to say? For some reason, he felt a bit tipsy, even though he had barely drunk half a gla.s.s of wine.

Seeing him not speaking, Yun Rong took a couple steps towards him. They were in a dimly-lit area, with just the moonlight illuminating their surroundings. Even if Yun Rong was a mountain demon and had better eyesight than humans, it was still a bit hard for her to clearly see his expression.

Lu He Nian felt a fresh fragrance of flowers invading his nose. He lifted his sight and was met with a pair of bright, naive eyes curiously staring at him. Her delicate face looked even more beautiful under the pale moonlight. He unconsciously lifted his hand and gently caressed her cheek. An unreadable emotion appeared at the depths of his eyes.

Yun Rong's senses were suddenly a.s.saulted by a familiar male scent. She saw Lu He Nian's face getting closer and then she felt a soft, gentle touch on her lips. Her heartbeat became faster. A strange sensation started enveloping her as that touch begun rubbing tenderly against her lips.

A few seconds later her lips were gently pried open and a soft, wet sensation invaded her mouth. She got gooseb.u.mps all over her skin, but she did not dislike it. On the contrary, she felt strong a sense of familiarity. She slowly closed her eyes and tried to follow after that sensation, wanting to identify that familiar feeling that invaded her. She felt like she was about to grasp it…

Yun Rong suddenly opened her eyes. Light came in through the windows of the luxurious presidential suite, and birds chirped animately outside. It was way past the break of dawn, the time when she usually got up to absorb the morning's aura. She sighed. Looks like she went to sleep too late while watching those TV shows and ended up oversleeping. On top of that, she had some kind of weird dream. Hmmm, why couldn't she remember? Well, it probably wasn't that important if she had forgotten it.

She slowly rose from bed, it was better to start getting ready, she didn't want to be late for work during her first week at the office.

Happy April Fools!! hehehe I hope you enjoyed the fake chapter ?? so, how was it? it was my first time writing this kind of romantic scene (well, my first time writing, period) so I hope it was good enough to fool you for some time hehehe i'd have liked to write sth a bit more steamy but it wouldn't fit the story and I'm also not confident I would be able to pull that off hahaha

Worry not, we are actually releasing the real chapter as well (what I said about switching releases with RP bc chap was not ready on Monday is true, at that time we had not yet noticed that April fools was just around the corner).
