Xia Lin was enjoying eating up the Serpent's soul through her sword, her beautiful lips displayed a devilish smile on her face that made her look like she was she-devil.

The devilish smile on her face disappear and a hint of anger appeared on her face, the way she looked at the body of the Serpent was like a predator annoyed that someone else tried to steal her food. It was like she realized that the energy her sword was consuming was no longer in the Serpent's body. She took her sword and pierced through the body of the Serpent with a strong push several times as she was trying to get a better source of energy, this action caused the body of the Serpent melted down like a candle. After seeing that the Serpent's body melted, she knew his soul escaped his body, Xia Lin looked around with her flaming red eyes as if she was searching for a needle in a pool of sand.

The Serpent's have been saved by his master and was still floating in the sky hovering over his body like a ghost. Compare to his previous self he didn't have the same proud and powerful demeanor, instead, he now looked like an abused animal who was afraid of being touched again. He was now looking pitifully at the direction where his master was, deeply hoping his master would come to stop this she-devil who ate half his soul and who looking to erase him from this realm.

Xia Lin whose eyes were still scanning the area sensed the fear of the Serpent and immediately flew to the sky toward him.

In a blink of an eye, she appeared in front of the Serpent's soul.

The Serpent saw the she-devil in appearing in front of him, he turned around and flew toward his master's direction. Xia Lin who was still enraged by the fact that she didn't finish him off followed the Serpent's soul like a grim reaper, even if the Serpent's speed had increased when running, he felt like no matter how fast he was speeding, she was still at his tail.

He Lan who have been observing the whole scene outside the formation walk into the formation but stopped right at the invisible line. When the Serpent who have been running toward his only hope for salvation saw his master stepping in, his heat was silently jumping of joyce. He rapidly reached his master and hid behind him like a kid hiding behind their mom's skirt.

Xia Lin who has been following the Serpent's soul like a grim reaper furrowed her brows, her flaming red eye had a hint of annoyance as she saw the man who was s.h.i.+elding her food. She looked like a predator ready to kill anything that was getting in her way. She arrived in front of He Lan and gave him a mocking look with the corner of her lips curved into a smirk before she reaches out her hand to try to grab the Serpent behind He Lan.

Seeing as the girl in front of him didn't dare to stop in front of him, He Lan lift his arm which landed on Xia Lin shoulder. The strength of the hand was as soft as so a gentle touch, the girl whose body had been erupting fire started to calm down when she felt He Lan's hand on her. The flaming sword that she held in her hands disappeared along with the fire on her body. Her hair turned back to its original pitch black, her red eyes immediately turned back to their usual hazel color.

Her vision started to get blurry when she felt like something left her body. She tried to lift her arms to hold onto He Lan since she was now feeling dizzy and light-headed just when her hands were about to close on his neck, she fainted.

He Lan had placed a hand on her shoulder to drain her power when he felt that she was back to her normal state, he saw her trying to tie her arms behind his neck. Just when he was about to block her arm from touching him, she fainted. He instinctively put another arm behind her back to support her, and the other one that stopped halfway from blocking her arm moved to hold her hands that were about to pose itself in his neck.

After adjusting Xia Lin's arm on his neck, He Lan's hand that was holding her arm on his neck gently caressed her arm all the way back to her shoulder. He Lan's eyes kept looking at the girl's face as if he was looking at the most beautiful and intriguing thing he has ever seen.

He didn't want to be this drown to this Xia girl but he couldn't help himself but caress her face.
