Way To The Heavens 14 First Round

"The first contestants of today are Liu Feng from our own dusksh.o.r.e academy and w.a.n.g Wei from victory academy." The announcer said.

"My name is w.a.n.g Wei, rank fourteen chi apprentice, red snake soul form."

"Hmpf, I'm up against some trash? Liu Feng, rank eighteen chi apprentice, golden thunder sword soul form." Liu Feng said. "Trash like you is not even qualified to be in this tournament so I will take it upon myself to send you home."

"Begin!"

When the battle began Liu Feng immediately summoned his sword and pounced towards w.a.n.g Wei as a red gem started sparkling on his hand.

"Thunderstrike!" When Liu Feng used his first soul technique a thunderbolt was unleashed and was heading for w.a.n.g Wei who just stood there with his eyes closed.

He slowly opened his eyes as he said. "Defensive scales, snake claws." As he crossed his arms in front of him.

The next scene stunned everyone in the audience. w.a.n.g Wei just took the lightning bolt as if it were nothing and pounced towards Liu Feng with his claws brandished. He swung his claws and stopped just before Liu Feng' eyes.

"I surrender! I surrender!" Liu Feng cried out.

"Hmpf, I guess it is you who is the trash." w.a.n.g Wei calmly said as he walked off the stage.

Next was Long Yue' battle which also ended in total domination.

Back in the resting area

"w.a.n.g Wei don't get too confident I'm coming for you, you better not lose your next fight!" it was Long Sha. He was placed in the same bracket as w.a.n.g Wei. In total there were one hundred-twenty eight students partic.i.p.ating in the solo compet.i.tion. If w.a.n.g Wei won his next fight he would be in the top thirty-two, and he would face Long Sha.

"You just focus on your own fights. I will make sure to win." w.a.n.g Wei replied. "Long Yue, come. We have to prepare for the duo compet.i.tion."

A few hours later in the afternoon, the first solo round had ended and sixty-four partic.i.p.ants were knocked out of the solo tournament. After a few fights ended it was the turn to w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue to partic.i.p.ate in the duo tournament. They were up against a brother-sister duo.

"I'm w.a.n.g Wei a rank fourteen chi apprentice and I have a red snake soul form. This is Long Yue, rank sixteen chi apprentice. His soul form is the holy leopard."

"I'm Shen Hong a rank sixteen chi apprentice, flaming axe soul form. This is my sister Shen Yue. She is also rank sixteen her soul form is the water fan."

As soon as the start of the battle was announced Long Yue brandished his holy claws which had a red glow now. w.a.n.g Wei summoned his defensive scales and also brandished his snake claws.

"Water wave!" as Shen Yue said this she revealed her first soul technique. An orange light shone on the hand she held the fan with and she waved with her fan. As she did this an enormous wave formed in front of her. It swallowed both w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue.

They eventually got through the wave but then right after that Shen Hong stood there with a flaming axe in his hands and swung at the two. Long Yue used his holy claws' speed to avoid and w.a.n.g Wei relied on his flexibility to avoid.

"I'll take the girl, you take the brother." w.a.n.g Wei said.

"Okay!" Long Yue replied.

The next moment Long Yue appeared before Shen Hong in a flash. He pointed his claws at his neck.

"Surrender!" he roared.

"Let my brother go!" Shen Yue cried out. Her soul ring lit up again.

"Are you sure you want to do that?"

It was w.a.n.g Wei! He touched the back of her neck with his snake claw. The brother-sister team surrendered and the two advanced to the top thirty-two of the duo compet.i.tion.

Next was the trio compet.i.tion. Because w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue already fought two battles today they were only meditating and eating before the fight. But then they were called up to the fighting grounds. They found out that their opponents were almost the same to the people they fought against in the academy the first time the three fought together. So they dealt with them almost the same way. This time instead of using their soul techniques they used their individual techniques to quickly end their fight. The audience was most surprised by Lee Zheng his individual soul skill he used multiple feathers to form a snow white feather sword which he used to suppress his opponent.

They won the first day without using their soul techniques so their exhaustion wasn't that great.

"Okay let's win again tomorrow and after that this whole tournament!" w.a.n.g Wei said.

"Yeah, let's win this thing." Long Yue and Lee Zheng said in unison.

In the personal box of the colosseum, a person with a powerful aura stood there looking at the fights.

"Those youngsters from victory academy are really strong. To win their first day without using any individual techniques. They would be perfect for our academy right?" He asked as he looked towards the woman by his side.

"They are indeed strong but I don't know if they are strong enough to join our jade academy, especially that w.a.n.g Wei with a martial soul as his how will he ever become strong."

"Don't worry about that. I can help him with that issue. How about this? If they manage to be in the final eight of all compet.i.tions they will be given the opportunity to enter our jade academy."

"Okay you have got yourself a deal but only if they enter the final eight of each compet.i.tion."
