"Thank you very much! I'll be sure to tell her," I heard Dillon say to one of the girls who stood in front of him with a huge smile on her face. She was happy to have met him — her favorite out of the Heroic Eight. Everyone was actually a favorite except for me. It has been a week since we stepped out and we're officially announced as a team. There had been so many meetings held regarding us in Zims and New York was going crazy with the news about us as well. Seven out of the Heroic Eight had a small group of fans while one didn't get any attention.

Apparently, I was the weird one. I did stand out a bit. My body was going through changes since the last time. Everyday we would spend our time practicing and learning then we would step outside and have to deal with the constant smiles and waves. I did it for a few days but after a while I stopped and just carried on.

"We're screwed!" Mikey exclaimed as he slammed himself in his desk. We were separated from everyone else at the Academy. We were in a warehouse deep in the woods with high maintenance security so we could learn without being distracted.

"Am I fat in the future?" Liam asked as he opened a bag of chips.

I rolled my eyes, "How do you not remember me? Me being here should've refreshed your memories yet Sarah is the only one who remembers me!"

"We all look the exact same!" Sarah screamed.

"Enough!" Bob yelled as he walked into the room.  He placed a bunch of papers on our desks before marching over to the front of the cla.s.sroom. I looked down at the paper on my desk and read it out loud.

"Experiment One," I whispered, "What is that?"

"It is you,"

"Why are we referred to as experiments?" Melanie asked. I looked down at her papers and saw Experiment Four going across the top.

"Experiment?" Bob asked while walking forward and reading our papers, "It is supposed to say experience! I apologize,"

"I was about to say," I heard Sarah mumble. Bob smiled softly before clapping his hands together.

"Enough of the chatting! It's time for you each to split up and go to your activities! You aren't here to lounge around!" He exclaimed. Slowly, we all stood up and began making our way out of the cla.s.sroom and into the different rooms around the huge warehouse where we could practice using our powers. I waved goodbye as everyone entered their a.s.signed rooms.

The room that I was a.s.signed to was on the other side of the warehouse. I sighed heavily as I made my way down the empty hallway and towards my room. Suddenly, I felt that I was being watched. I stopped walking and turned around only to see nothing. Confused and curious, I turned back around and started to walk towards my destination. As soon as I was about to place my hand on the k.n.o.b, someone grabbed me from behind. I gasped before grabbing the stranger by the arm and flipping them over. He stood up quickly and began charging towards me. I swung and but he quickly grabbed my arm before throwing his fist towards me. I lifted my leg up and kicked him sending him flying to the opposite side of the wall. Before I could do anything else, I felt a sharp pain in my neck. I fell to my knees slowly before looking up. Standing over me was another man in a black mask with a needle in his hand. My vision began to blur and the last thing I could remember was him smirking at me before everything went black.

I jumped up quickly only for someone to place their hands on my shoulder. Turning around, I grabbed the person by their neck and slammed the against the wall.

"It's me!" Mikey screamed.

"Relax Carter!" Liam exclaimed while placing his hand on my shoulder. Slowly, I loosened my grip and removed my hand from around Mikey's neck. He sighed in relief while everyone else stared at me with wide eyes.

"What the h.e.l.l happened?" Melanie asked while reaching to touch my hair. I slapped her hand away from me leaving her shocked.

"Don't touch my hair," I growled.

"Carter, what is wrong with you? What the h.e.l.l happened to you?" Sarah asked.

"I was attacked," I answered, "I do not know who it was since their faces were covered but they injected me with something and that's the last thing I remember!"

"We found you lying on the floor!" Dillion explained, "You weren't even breathing! You were just lying there and your hair was red!"

"What?" I asked. I made my way towards the mirror and stared at my reflection. My hair was no longer brown but instead it was red. It was the same shade of red that I had in the future.

"How long have I been out?" I asked.

"Two weeks,"

"Do you feel different?" Mikey asked.

"I feel angry!" I yelled. Melanie flinched. There wasn't another word exchanged between any of us. Everyone just stared at me as I stared at the white wall. I felt angry. I wanted to hurt someone and I didn't like having that feeling.

"Someone's coming," I mumbled.

Before anyone could say or do anything else, a knock was heard at the door. Turning around, I held my hand up and the door opened. Melanie gasped as she witnessed me showcase my telekinetic powers.

"I came to see if everything was alright," John greeted, "I'm glad to see that you're awake, Carter!"

"John," I warned. He held his hands up in defense and nodded his head.

"I will get to the bottom of it!" He said before backing out and closing the door behind him.

"This had to be done by someone who worked inside of the warehouse!" Kasey started, "I didn't feel any danger!"

"It's the same thing that is happening in the future!" I began, "In the future, something or someone is coming and it is coming for me! I was known as The Chosen One!"

"That's it!" Dillion exclaimed, "All of us was in the warehouse yet you were attacked! Whoever it was who attacked or organized this attack on you actually chose you! You are still the chosen one!"

"She was also known as the forbidden child yet we know nothing about her Mother!" Sarah stated.

"While some things are a bit confusing, I still do know my Mother!"

"It's her Father that we don't know!" Mikey whispered. I turned my attention to him as he stared at the white wall. He looked at me and nodded his head, "I remember now,"

"He has gotten his memories! He knows who she is!" Sarah explained to everyone else who stood in the room confused. Mikey sat on the bed and cleared his throat.

"I remember when we met Zion! He said that you were the daughter of Ladus who was the King of a planet known as Idilia! We know nothing about her Father because he was one of the Elders but the ring was pa.s.sed down to Carter making her become one of the Elders," He explained.

"No one knew him because he never came to Earth," Sarah said.

"Exactly!"

"Which means that she's half human and half alien," Liam explained.

"But aliens weren't supposed to be on Earth! They were to protect s.p.a.ce!" Melanie stated.

"Exactly!" Mikey yelled, "King Ladus slept with Marie also known as Mysteria and created

Carter! Obviously, her mom didn't travel to Idilia since she's human and he was not supposed to be on Earth!"

"Therefore, Carter is the forbidden child!" Kasey whispered.

"This attack could've been organized by someone who knows who your Father is," Mikey finished. I sat there for a minute and thought about everything they had said. Suddenly, I began to think about the things that happened in the present.

"Back in the present, there was a wand found and it belonged to someone named Eric Edwards," I revealed.

"A wand? From a wizard? Like Doctor Strange?" Mikey asked.

"Doctor Strange doesn't need a wand," Melanie corrected.

"We are going off topic!" Liam yelled. He turned his attention back to me and asked softly, "You didn't see a wand when we found your Mom?"

"No,"

"Because he knew you were here! He was more careful this time around so he didn't leave any evidence," Dillion stated as he stood up and began pacing around the room, "Eric Edwards could be the one who attacked you!"

"The problem is we don't know who this guys is!" Kasey said while groaning.

"Apparently, he left because he fell in love with a human! He was in a few fights but nothing major," I revealed. "He disappeared on May 17th,"

"This cannot be right," Mikey whispered. "I remember this! We went to the library and searched him up! Eric disappeared on May 17th, 1999! It is 1993,"

"My mom apparently died in 1999 but look what happened?" I shot back. Mikey nodded his head in agreement before closing his mouth.

"Remember? His wand said ELIVES which means Eric Lives," Kasey exclaimed.

"Let's face the facts! He's involved in this attack on you!" Liam stated as he stood up and made his way to the door. He slammed the door open only to be greeted by a group of girls who stood there patiently waiting for the chance of seeing one of us. Everyone followed behind Liam smiling softly at everyone who waved excitedly. Walking quietly behind everyone else, I slowly turned the opposite way in hopes of getting away from the rest of the group. Due to the attention they were receiving, they didn't see me as I walked out of the door.

I sighed heavily before slamming my bottom into one of the chairs that sat in the back of the school. Usually, students filled this area. They would either be here studying or lounging around but today there were only three other people besides myself. There was a huge pond that sat directly in the middle of the huge field while chairs were wrapped around it. I looked up towards the blue sky. The sun s.h.i.+nes brightly and the clouds decorated the sky. Everything around me seemed to grow louder. I could hear everything from the birds chirping to the conversation between the girl and boy who sat together on the other side of the pond. I looked down at the pond and gasped. I could see everything from the fish to the dead bugs. I stood up quickly only to overhear a group of girls searching for me.

"Find Carter!" One of the girls demanded, "She's the weirdest one out of them all and I want to know what the h.e.l.l makes her so special to the point where she is apart of the Heroic Eight!"

"They might have just added her because of her Mom," One of the girls replied. Looking for a place to hide, I looked up at the sky before smirking. I backed up before running forward and jumped until I was flying straight into the air. I landed directly on top of one of the clouds. Slowly opening my eyes, I looked down to see how high I was and gasped when I noticed the distance between everyone else and I.

"I'm too scared to move," I mumbled to myself before slowly taking a step forward. I placed a hand over my chest and relaxed a bit after I realized that I wouldn't fall through the cloud. I sat down and let my feet dangle off of the cloud as the group of girls stood in front of the chair where I had just sat.

"Where the h.e.l.l could she be?" The leader demanded. I watched from above as they she gave demands to her group of followers.

Smirking to myself, I closed my eyes as more clouds formed in the sky and the white clouds turned to a dark grey. The clouds covered the sun as a strong breeze picked up. I watched as the girls looked up at the sky in confusion and before any of them could do anything else the rain began to pour.

I let them bottom fall out.

All of them screamed loudly and began running towards the school to get out of the rain. I laughed loudly as they pushed one another out of the way. Rubbing my hands together in mischief, I jumped down from the cloud landing easily on my feet. The girls stared at me through the window in shock as I walked towards them in the rain only I wasn't getting wet.

"Carter!" Someone yelled. I turned around to see John standing behind me with a disappointed look on his face. I shook his head. I rolled my eyes as the grey clouds disappeared, the rain stopped, and the sun began to s.h.i.+ne brightly again.

I walked pa.s.sed John, "Came to ruin all the fun?"

"Present, past, or future, I am still your headmaster!" He replied as he trailed behind me. I pushed open the door to the school and smirked at the group of girls as they stared at me in shock, disbelief, and fear.

"I'm shocked that you four took it upon yourselves to skip cla.s.s!" John said as he stared at the four girls.

"Mr. Porter!" One of the girls exclaimed.

"I do not want to hear anymore of your excuses, Amy!" John started, "I told you that if I caught any of you skipping that there would be consequences! All four of you are to meet me in my office in the next hour so we can discuss this matter!"

"Yes sir," They all mumbled while standing up and heading towards their cla.s.s.

"Carter, I don't want you using your powers like that! There's no telling what could have happened if something went wrong or what you would've done if I didn't get there!" John stated as we walked to his office.

"I have been constantly bullied since the news of us H8!" I started, "Excuse me for defending myself! Isn't that what you wanted us to learn how to do anyway?"

"While you were out like a light, I took t upon myself to get you checked out and to find out what exactly leaked into your system when you were injected with whatever that was," John said while walking over towards the huge computer that sat on his desk. I closed the door behind me softly and followed him.

"What did you find?" I asked.

"You are a mutant, Carter." John started.

"We've already established that,"

"Do you feel different?"

"Besides the fact that I am super strong and pretty d.a.m.n fast, I feel quite normal!" I answered.

"Whatever it was that was injected into you gave you those abilities!" John revealed. "You were injected with HPZ04 which is some type of synthetic drug! It was injected into your system which made you not only stronger but set off many of your abilities such as..."

"My shape s.h.i.+fting, the force fields, the mind control, the telekinetic abilities,"

"Exactly!" John responded, "It triggered something! You've always had that and it could be coming from your Father's side but you weren't supposed to get them yet! This synthetic drug set it off,"

"This injected into me! Whoever did this knew what it would do," I yelled.

John looked up at me as I paced the room. He sighed before speaking, "They knew it would set you off because there's no one else like you who have so many abilities and it seems that whoever did this wants to turn you into a machine,"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Whoever did this could possibly be trying to use your powers or take them away from you,"
