Chapter 10 – Dream

In a daze, Lu Feng seemed to have arrived at the Lu manor. She had lived at this residence in front of her for the past eleven years throughout childhood. She was familiar with every single flower and tree at the property, but at the moment it felt a bit strange.

There were white silks hung throughout the Lu manor, and the servants who walked in and out were dressed in mourning clothes. Lu Feng was shocked, and had a bad feeling in her heart. She picked up her legs and broke into a run into the manor. Who died here?

There were countless people along the way, but no one stopped Lu Feng as she ran, as if they did not see her.

Lu Feng felt uncertain, yet before she could think too much about it, she caught sight of someone walking towards her, not waiting for her to step aside, and walked right through her body … …

    Her body… …is this a dream?

Lu Feng suppressed the weird feeling in her heart, and somehow without her knowing, found herself walking towards the Maple courtyard. It seemed that the crucial point to this dream was in her own courtyard, and apparently there was someone waiting for her.

On the way there, she recognized everyone who came, their faces bathed in tears and everyone kept repeating the words young master.

Lu Feng took a step forward, and a strange scene swarmed into her mind without warning.

“Reporting to the general, there was a spy in the camp. They found out our plan to sneak attack and now we are surrounded.”

“General, the signal flare was moved by someone, and we can't signal for help!”

“General, I will risk my life fighting to escort you out!”

Burning arrows flew from all directions, illuminating the gloomy night sky.

There were nearly a hundred of them, like live targets, overwhelmed by the flying arrows with nowhere to run.

    “Master!”

A familiar voice sounded from behind, Lu Feng was the person in the dream that everyone had called General. When she turned around, she saw Mutou guarding in front of her, grinning she said: “Master, Mutou… go first.”

In front of her was Mutou, her mature face fighting bravely with bloodstains on her back, both hers and her enemies.

“Mutou!” Lu Feng stretched out her hand to support Mutou's collapsing body, her eyes emitting heat, her heart swelling with pain.

She had picked up this person, who was only three years old, on her way home.  She gave her half a biscuit to nibble on to coax her to come back with her. From then on, she became a servant beside her.

Mutou grew up with her since childhood, taking all the blame for her, being scolded by her father countless times, never complaining, and in this difficult situation to still do this by using her body to block the arrows for her … …

She lowered Mutou down and closed her eyes. Lu Feng looked up at the overwhelming flames falling from the sky, feeling the unwillingness and resentment in her heart. She had not yet accomplished her mission and felt unwilling to die like this. She felt such hatred that someone could go this far and betray their own country, conspiring with the enemy!

All the guards protecting her began falling to the ground.

The horn of the enemy sounded, echoing all around. At that moment, she did not know where the courage came from, or maybe it was the body's original owner's determination. Lu Feng pulled out the long sword from her waist, planting her feet fiercely into the ground, her hands holding the hilt, her back straight, facing the blaze in the sky, and slowly closed her eyes.

The arrows pierced through the armor, and as if it was happening to herself, Lu Feng could feel the pain entering into the body. As she lay dying, a bright and dazzling face came into view, a pair of tender and water-like peach eyes, the man's smiling face calling her softly, “Lu Feng… …”

Lu Feng slowly raised her hand, the flames in the sky turned into a man wearing mourning clothes. She couldn't even see the man's appearance, but subconsciously knew that this was exactly the appearance of the man she had married, her husband, knowing at the time his beauty must be indisputable.

The thin lips lifted slightly, blood running slowly down the corner of the mouth, Lu Feng heard herself calling out, “Honey… …”

    … …

All the red in front of her faded away, and she was back at the all white manor.

Lu Feng's feet were cold, she reached for her chest where she was. .h.i.t by the arrows, and took a deep breath. Although she knew that she was dreaming, she could still feel the dull ache.

Waiting for the suffocating emotions to gradually ease from the pit of her stomach, Lu Feng raised her foot and walked to her courtyard.

In the past, the Maple courtyard was lively and warm, yet at this moment it seemed extraordinarily quiet. Autumn had just arrived. Lu Feng could feel the bleakness filling the entire courtyard, in addition to the harsh whiteness. There was no color.

Her feet led her towards the back room. Before she could go in, Lu Feng heard the oppressive sound of weeping despair coming from inside.

Lu Feng felt a weird feeling in her heart. Before she saw anyone, she felt the voice was familiar.

    “Lu Feng, Lu Feng… …”

These two words seem to want to call her heart and wake her memory … to wake her memory of someone.

    Honey.

Lu Feng walked through the wall and saw a man in white mourning clothes sitting at the corner of the bed, hugging a pillow with a pair of mandarin ducks, his face buried in the pillow, weeping bitterly.

This dream was too strange, and could even be described as a nightmare. However, Lu Feng did not feel afraid, instead she felt sorrow.

It is autumn, how can he dress so thinly?

She told him to eat well, how could he be this thin after she left for battle.

The man on the bed seemed to sense something, looking up at the place where she was standing, and hoa.r.s.ely called to her, “Lu Feng?”

He threw the pillow off the bed and tried to stand up, but because he was weak and pale, his legs were soft when he got out of bed and immediately fell onto the floor, his knees knocking onto the ground.

Lu Feng couldn't help but feel distressed. Her heart trembled with pain, extending out her hand but was unable to help him.

The man felt no pain and used his arms to support himself up, searching the entire room to find her.

Lu Feng could clearly feel his emotions, could see his actions, and even knew he had tears in his eyes, but she couldn't see his face clearly. Just like before, she knew this person was her husband, and similarly she couldn't see his face clearly.

But she was very sure in her heart that he was Honey. Because she called it out herself… …

He staggered out running into the courtyard. Lu Feng followed beside him, looking at his feet without shoes, wanting to persuade him to go back inside.

He searched all around for her, yet even though she was within his reach, he was unable to see her. Ultimately, he weakly crouched on the ground and wept bitterly.

Lu Feng heard someone coming, turning her head she saw her father, Ji s.h.i.+. The man crouching on the ground looked up at Ji s.h.i.+ and reached out grabbing his clothes, crying bitterly, “Lu Feng… …”

In the afternoon, Xu Mu had squatted on the snow and held onto her clothes with his small hands, his forehead against her legs, crying loudly, and calling out, “Lu Feng… …”

The two scenes overlapped together. Lu Feng could not hear anything, except for the sound of Xu Mu's cries of despair and hopelessness calling out Lu Feng.

Lu Feng felt as if her heart was ruthlessly grabbed by someone, making it hurt to breathe. This feeling was even more unbearable than the arrows penetrating through her body.

“Honey, don't cry, I'm here, I'm here. Even if I'm dead, I will still be by your side, protecting you.”

Lu Feng opened her mouth but no sounds came out, her hands tightly clutching the clothes on her chest, seeing him crying desperately… …

“Master?” Mutou heard the sound in the middle of the night and quickly came from the side room, lit a candle, and saw Lu Feng on the bed sweating. There with tears on her face, her hands gripping the lapel of her robe, and breathing heavily.

She saw that Lu Feng was probably having a nightmare, and quickly patted her hand and called, “Master? Master.”

“Honey!” Lu Feng shouted and opened her eyes, gasping like a fish out of water.

“Master, you're awake.” Mutou sighed with relief and helped Lu Feng to sit up. She reached out and patted her on the back, and said worriedly: “You had a nightmare, I called out to you for a while…. …anyway, since you've woken up it is all right. "

Lu Feng stared blankly at Mutou in front of her, looking at her worried face, and feeling an uncomfortableness in her heart. Her mouth moved, only to find it was difficult to speak.

Mutou noticed Lu Feng's lips were pale and dry. She quickly poured her a gla.s.s of water and came over, “I just heard you shouting for candied fruit. Did you want to eat it?”

As she said this she took out the oiled package from the dark cabinet of Lu Feng's settee, opened it, and handed it to Lu Feng. Since Ji Ruan went to “Sweet Taste” everyday, the supply of candied fruits in Lu Feng's cabinet had never been broken.

Lu Feng swallowed her saliva to moisten her throat before reaching for a piece of candied fruit and putting it in her mouth. This type of candied fruit was coated with a layer of sweet powder and it had a unique cooling touch. The sweet taste spread onto the tip of her tongue, and Lu Feng felt better in her heart.

“Go to sleep.” Lu Feng ate only one, and also pinched another one and put it into Mutou's mouth. She gave her the teacup, and let her rest early.

Lying on the bed again, Lu Feng placed a hand to her heart, and could still feel the inexplicable sadness. She closed her eyes to recall the dream she had, but found that she could not remember everything clearly, and only remembered Xu Mu's crying.

Lu Feng touched her neck where Xu Mu had cried on in the afternoon. Her inner robe had been wet due to his crying, and his tears fell onto her shoulders. After a while, her body felt stiff for a length of time. When she managed to go back, she changed her clothes as soon as she returned.

This Honey, was he made of water…

Crying until her clothes were wet without saying a word, also crying enough to make her have a nightmare at night.

Lu Feng reached out and rubbed her stuffy chest, and then closed her eyes and slept again.
