"Sora got kidnapped!?"

The brown-haired Club president, who'd only recently come home, stood shocked at the revelation. She continued talking

"Shouldn't we call the police?"

Aya, who had decided to take a small detour to Anami's house, shook her head in regret and said

"No, I don't think that'll help. The kidnappers are from a certain company we picked a fight with recently."

The notion struck Anami hard and she thought about it for a bit. She'd found out about the company that Kori was connected to through Narino and her tales from tailing the two escorts for Kori. The instantaneous reaction she got was guilt and regret, she'd been the one to send them out on a mission like that and didn't think of the potential consequences of it. She just wanted to quell the student that had been going around the school and causing trouble for a lot of students. But she had now, in best case scenario indirectly, caused the kidnapping of her friend. It was her duty as the club president of such an important club to protect both the members of her club, but also normal people from people with power with an ill will. The self-blaming hurt even more to Anami, with her for the most part being a s.a.d.i.s.t. Sadness spread until it finally made a teardrop down her cheek, and she said slowly

"This is all my fault. I issued the mission that caused this sort of reaction from that huge company, why could I not think through what I was doing? I should've at the very least waited a while for everyone to build up their strength if that would've even done any difference. We are now up against one of the bigger companies which seems to have strong power users employed. I just didn't want to sit there, knowing so many people were hurt every day by Kori Hanesawa."

Aya looked with a sympathizing look at Anami, because she understood perfectly what Anami was feeling there. She'd herself felt like she mismanaged her role of responsibility in certain situations and was not a stranger to those feelings of inadequacy. She replied

"I understand what you feel, but now isn't the time to gloom over it. The best you can do now, in my opinion, is to go and help your friend. You can apologize all you want after."

Anami, while maintaining a part of her gloomy mood, smiled a little and responded to the comforting with

"You're right, as the Club president and as the strongest member of the club, I will run to rescue our member and my friend! I don't think I can call any of the other members right now, so we will have to do."

With that out of the way, the two quickly started rus.h.i.+ng to the location where a fisher statue stood proudly. They were, however, heading towards the right destination, unlike someone else who was also searching for it.

"Almost, hu hu hu, there!"

With his breathing becoming heavier with every step he took as he ran, he exclaimed how he'd almost reached the destination in question. He was looking at a tall, rectangular building that looked huge from a close point of view. The lights were either worn or destroyed and it was completely dark inside. Kanton noted the building as the one he was looking for, as he saw a fisher statue a couple of meters next to it. But the first red flag came in the form of nothing, since nothing at all was heard from the inside, which wouldn't be expected from a place where a heated kidnapping conflict took place. Kanton didn't take note of it though, as he was so sure and focused on a.s.sisting his new-found friend. It hadn't been long since they met, but Kanton already considered Kenjiro a friend to him as it was fun to hang out with him and they had shared interests. He was unsure though if the feeling was mutual, especially considering the comment Kenjiro made back in the infirmary and the general att.i.tude of the guy. Kanton was a true believer of humans being the worst sentient being on the planet, and he held a firm belief in that. But it wasn't as though he thought everybody was trash, it was more like he believed that there was a spectrum. But that the spectrum just happened to lie at the bottom tiers of sentient beings. He wanted the best out of humans, and that included Kenjiro, but usually held low expectations. He didn't want to necessarily be a bad person, that's the reason he wanted to help Kenjiro, to return the favor from Plan Power Surge, and to rescue his friend Sora, to do the right thing.

Kanton approached the building with the smile of a person who was confident to the brim. He was going to get the full honor of a.s.sisting his friends, and win the respect of those involved while Narino awkwardly made her way to the correct building and helped out a little bit.

- I don't want to be mean to you Narino, but this is what you get for doubting my ideology! I'll get all of the honor and be respected throughout our whole club, and maybe even get some praise from the girls there. Not that I have anyone particular in mind, but it would be nice to get some praise from Satoko.

I'm going to enter now!!!! Here I come, better times! Throw me into your embrace!-

He loaded up a skill and shouted

"Middle Kick of the Rising Sun!"

The doors immediately slammed open upon impact and as he flew in through the doors in the air, he screamed

"I'm here to help you…!"

As he landed and looked around he finished his sentence

"...Kenjiro...?"

He looked around more frantically while he said

"Don't tell me this building is doing its job correctly, don't tell me this building is doing its job correctly..."

As he looked around and got absolutely nothing in response except quiet mouse squeaks, he said in an absolutely depressing voice

"It's doing its job correctly, it's an abandoned warehouse..."

He took a couple of steps forward, with the insecurity of a shunned middle-schooler. He looked towards the exit on the other side as he thought to himself about his att.i.tude prior to entering the warehouse and commented

"Did I just experience the duality of man?

Humans are so stupid!"

Narino, who'd chosen the correct path, was now nearing the seemingly lone warehouse. She spotted two shadowy figures in the distance, walking towards that warehouse. Immediately thinking it was the enemy, Narino rushed to a large rock nearby and slid down it. Her powers were largely support-based, so a direct confrontation would be a big disadvantage to her.

- I should have just forced that dumba.s.s human-hating person to follow me this way, I'm really regretting that now. I can't face them directly, I need someone who has any type of combat ability for my powers to have a good effect.-

While she stared into the gravel ground right in front of her, she started hearing something.

The gravel a couple of meters behind her were making crisp sounds as they were stepped on by someone, presumably those two she saw before. She thought that they would enter the warehouse to continue their blackmailing action with Kenjiro who was probably inside.

But they weren't.

For some reason, she could hear the gravel dispersing closer and closer to her. The only thing she could do now was to try and plan for an eventual confrontation, something she was barely able to think about as the air around her felt lacking. Her heartbeat shot up tremendously as the steps continued

*Crunch Crunch Crunch*

If she was able to run into the warehouse as quickly as possible, she would most likely find Kenjiro there which would make the encounter a lot easier. But she had no intel on the situation, maybe Kenjiro was defeated. Maybe he was already in the middle of a very dangerous encounter, or maybe he wasn't even there. Narino didn't really have a lot of options though, and she decided to look behind the rock to try and get a peek. But, her body wouldn't move.

No matter what she tried to command it, it just stood still with the ice-cold s.h.i.+vers running down her spine. Narino could feel that the people approaching her were powerful, it was in the air. But she couldn't tell exactly how powerful without seeing them and using her ability. It wasn't a super detailed view of someone's powers, but it gave a general picture. The crunches suddenly stopped, a couple of meters behind the rock and an ominous silence introduced itself.

-Did they find out? That's bad, maybe one of them has a Kaito power tracking ability. In that case, it would spell big trouble for me. In fact, it would make sense if they sent out someone with this type of information hunting powers to a mission like this. They wouldn't want anyone to come near the warehouse and pull a sneak-attack. What should I do? My mind's racing...-

With wide-open eyes, Narino stared at the ground with her head leaning a bit to the right so that she could hear better.

"Say..."

A voice was heard and Narino's heart shot a loud beat. A beat that was louder than what she'd ever had before.

"Do you think anyone's in Point Beta?"

Another voice introduced itself and said

"I don't know, in fact, why would you ask me? You know very well that I don't care about company business."

A sigh was heard, presumably from the first voice which then said

"Yeah, right. I'm sorry for trying to start a conversation about something. You are stubborn about only talking about stuff you're interested in. Ever heard of small talk?"

The second voice, which was a bit darker and ba.s.sier, answered

"It's neither productive nor interesting, so why would I partic.i.p.ate? I only do stuff that I want to do, unless I feel some obligation or my mom tells me to do something."

Narino realized something horrifying as she listened to the conversation. She'd been so focused on the conversation the two voices were having that she didn't notice something very obvious. The two voices that were talking had gotten louder and louder.

Narino slowly but surely looked upwards towards what was supposed to be the sky.

Two faces were staring down at her from the top of the rock.

"I thought I heard something, and what do you know? It's a girl."

The person to the left had Blond free-hanging hair that hung down.

"Potential prey?"

The person to the right had a black bowl-cut with some muscular shoulders that could be seen.

Narino had no idea who the first person was, but the second one was one that immediately struck fear into her. It was none other than the person who'd beaten Kenjiro this day, Kori Hanesawa. As a gut reaction to the reveal of both Kori and that they were that close, Narino stood up and backed up several meters with fearful urgency.

The blond person, also named Biharu, elbowed Kori lightly and said

"Ey, don't do that. Have some self-control.

But why is a girl like you out this late? You know it could be dangerous."

Narino froze and blanked on an answer, so Biharu continued

"Your heartbeats were very loud, you know? I could hear them relatively easily. Were you perhaps scared of us? Is that why you were hiding here?"

Narino didn't see where the line of questioning was leading towards, but it didn't have a good feeling attached to it. She was considering just running into the warehouse, but they could easily shut her down as they were most likely a lot faster. The variables of the situation were too many for her to make a good decision. Although she had a rough idea of the strength of Kori Hanesawa. She also chose to not use her ability to measure the rough powers of the two, as she would have to chant something and it would be easily seen by both of them. It could be seen as an act of aggression, potentially making the situation worse. Biharu continued his talking

"I guess it makes sense, but you don't need to be scared of me. I have a pretty face, and that usually means that I'm not dangerous. But my face isn't too pretty, 'cause people who are too beautiful usually have something hidden to them. Like you, perhaps…"

Narino looked at the blond with surprise as she thought

- Did he just try to hit on me, or threaten me? Either way, It was lame.-

Kori looked to his right in disbelief and said

"Lame, you can notice that you're tired because that was really lame."

Biharu retorted with

"Shut up! You should definitely not trust this guy, girl. He is exactly as suspicious as he looks like, he has weird hobbies and is incredibly self-centered."

Kori shrugged and said

"Sure."

Biharu looked at Kori with a defeated look as he said

"The fact that you just accepted that without a response hurt me even more. Now you're just making me look bad."

Narino looked with disbelief at the two people in front of her and thought

-What should I do? And who the h.e.l.l are these people really?-
