What made them open their mouth wide, jaws dropping to the floor was that their CEO actually motioned for the man to seat on the chairman's chair.

Some of them were angry, some were filled with mixed emotions but the cool-headed amongst them still decided to ask who the man is.

Only after Prince had sat down did Alicia follow suit, when they saw Alicia seated they all took that as a sign to also sit. Alicia looked around slowly making sure she had everyone's attention not like she needed it anyway because the man beside her had already commanded all their attention since he came in.

"Good afternoon to you all, I believe you are all here because of the mail you got earlier today" she paused for added effects before continuing "It is with great sadness that I have to say our chairman, my grandfather as of this morning has stepped down"

'So she is sad to see me here' Prince thought with a frown. He didn't know why he was bothered anyway, but her persistence to not receive him at her boss was nerve-wracking.

"Why would the old man step down without informing us?" one of the board members who was close to her grandfather asked. "Even if he wanted to step down, shouldn't the chairmans.h.i.+p go to someone in the company" another one who had been eyeing the post for so long said.

They were now divided in their opinion, seeing this Alicia was angry. No one had dared to argue in front of her since she became CEO but because of this issue, they actually did the one thing she hated the most.

She could not help but curse the man sitting beside her in her heart. Prince saw all the commotion but had no plans of stopping it. He looked at Alicia to see how she was going to put an end to the commotion and was not surprised when Alicia stood up swiftly causing her chair to grate on the floor.

"Silence, all of you, are you not ashamed of yourselves? Is this how we are supposed to present ourselves to outsiders" when she said the word outsiders she glanced briefly at Prince. Prince was so shocked he didn't know what reaction he was supposed to have. All he could do was stare at her silently.

The noise had gone down by now making the room eerily quiet. They knew she had a temper but she had never lashed out at them before. Some of them thought about it, if they were in her shoes they would have been angry by now.

From her speech and way of reaction it can be noticed that she had no knowledge of the change in power and even if there should be that change it should have been her. Although they didn't know how wrong they were regarding the last statement.

One of them gathered enough courage and asked: "If the chairman stepped down are you not supposed to be the new chairman?" Alicia sighed out loud hearing this before replying calmly. "Even if my grandfather had handed the company over to me, I would have rejected him"

Shock was apparent in their eyes as she said this. Some members of the board had been having illegal dealings in the dark to overthrow the now former chairman. When Alicia was announced as the new CEO they saw her as a threat to that position but never in their wildest dreams had they thought she may not have wanted the position.

There were mixed emotions in the board room, even Prince looked at her in surprise. Even since the day they had met up in his office he had looked at her differently. Thinking about it, there was no surprise when the old man agreed to give him his company without any threats or resistance. Turns out he was looking out for her.

The one who had asked for the chairmans.h.i.+p position to go down to someone in the company sneered. 'She must really think we are fools, who wouldn't want a company as successful as theirs all for themselves'

Some people nodded in agreement with her while others looked at her like she was a fool. One of them couldn't hold their curiosity again and made a decision to ask "Who is the new chairman then? and who is the young man sitting on the chairman's chair?"

Alicia looked at them all and made sure she p.r.o.nounced her words very clearly "The man seated here with me is the new chairman, please join me in welcoming Pearl Buchanan as the new chairman of Crystal corporations"
