After they had finished eating, Yi Fei excused herself to go to the washroom.

John saw his chance to interrogate Wu Chen so he went all out to investigate him.

"What is your motive to approach Yi Fei?" John went savage for his first question. He did not bother to speak with metaphor or flowery language with a guy who might or might not try to play his best friend.

"I don't know what you are trying to say. I am in love with her" Wu Chen did not feel even slightly intimidated by John.

John looked at the man in front of him. He read in the tabloid that Wu Chen was ruthless and cold. He did not want Yi Fei to end up with a ruthless and cold guy. She was too sweet to deal with a cold guy; she needed to be protected by all costs.

John tried to find any trace of lie from Wu Chen but he couldn't find any. He was not satisfied. He needed to get confirmation whether this guy in front of him really love Yi Fei or not.

John moved on his next question. He swore that if he was not satisfied with Wu Chen's answer, he will advise Yi Fei to think carefully about going out with Wu Chen.

"So tell me. Why do you love her?" John tried to think of something hard to ask Wu Chen.

"I don' know for sure…" Wu Chen spoke nonchalantly.

John smirked. He knew it. Someone who did not even know why he was in love with Yi Fei was not a good man. He needed to talk to Yi Fei about Wu Chen. Before John could think of anything else, what Wu Chen said after that made all his suspicion perished.

"I love her straightforwardly... You see. I doubted myself at first. Of why I love her, of course. I went back to City K for a while and think about it when I sat alone in my office, in the middle of the night" Wu Chen looked at John and when he saw that John was focused on him, he continued talking.

"I think about it a lot before deciding to return back here. I tried to put a value on how much I am into her while weighing my responsibility and my love life. I tried to imagine myself falling in love with her because of her beauty but you know, even when other people do not see her as the most beautiful, she is, for me" Wu Chen sipped his Americano.

"I love everything about her; the good and the bad thing. I love how her eyes s.h.i.+ning at the mention of foods; and I love her silly giggle when she talks about something random; or how her mouth curls at the edge and her eyes crinkled when she talks about something that she likes" Wu Chen had a lot to say but a day won't be enough for him to tell John of the things he liked about Yi Fei.

"So, I don't know how to explain why I am in love with her. Before I knew it, she fills up my day like air. Tell me, John. Tell me how supposed to breathe with no air?" Wu Chen leaned on the chair as if provoking John to answer his question.

Usually, John was the type of guy who hated losing but at this moment, he really could not find a single word to refute Wu Chen. He could only surrender and hope for the best of Wu Chen and Yi Fei.

The two of them were quiet for some time until a beautiful lady came to their table.

"Chen, I didn't expect to see you here" The lady looked at John and smiled sweetly.

Wu Chen looked at the lady and ignored her but the lady stood beside him as if not knowing that she was being ignored. John knew this kind of situation. As one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, he ought to have a lot of fans and admirers. This lady must be one of them.

"Thank you for that night. You went back before I had the chance to thank you for being with me" The lady was smiling sweetly but from John's point of view, she looked like those desperate women he saw in the typical Rom-Com drama.

John looked at the lady and then looked at Wu Chen back. Wu Chen did nothing to refute the woman's claim of them being together for a night. The previous good impression he had towards Wu Chen shattered.

Seeing that Yi Fei had a rival, a beautiful one at that, John's protectiveness flared up. He did not want Yi Fei to see this scene; Yi Fei did not deserve this disrespect, he needed to save her. John stood abruptly and turned around but he was too late. Yi Fei was already behind him.

"Yi Fei, let's go" John wanted to take Yi Fei away from there but Yi Fei did not comply with him. Instead, she went straight to Wu Chen and the lady.

"Eh, you look familiar. Isn't this the lady we met in the supermarket last time, Chen Chen?" Yi Fei walked pa.s.s the lady and went to sit beside Wu Chen naturally.

"This is Li Wei. We went to the same university". Wu Chen did not bother looking at Li Wei while introducing her to Yi Fei. John, who was standing previously, went back to his seat. He wanted to see how the situation developed.

Li Wei ignored the introduction made by Wu Chen. "I just want to thank him for being with me last Friday". Li Wei repeated what she had said while looking at everybody at the table. By now, John knew what kind of admirer she was – a bad one.

She was the type who will do or say something to infuriate other people; the type to destroy other people's relations.h.i.+p - a snake type.

Wu Chen looked at Yi Fei because he was worried about her. Yi Fei was so affected by Li Wei after the phone call; he did not want Yi Fei to be sad again.

Quite the opposite, this time, Yi Fei was not sad. She smiled politely while waiting for Li Wei to finish speaking whatever she wanted to say.

After Li Wei had finished speaking, Yi Fei sipped her orange juice and smiled while she looked at Li Wei. "Aww… Don't mention it. Chen Chen is a nice person. It's not a big deal for him to help his FRIEND. Right, Chen Chen?" Yi Fei looked at Wu Chen as if urging him to agree with her. Wu Chen nodded his head quickly.

Wu Chen thought that Yi Fei looked so confident at the moment. Well, the slightly jealous Yi Fei was too cute.

Li Wei was dumbstruck when she heard Yi Fei stressed the word 'friend'. She thought that Yi Fei was a pushover but she was wrong. As expected of someone who was able to catch the attention of Bai Jing Ting. But what happened next shocked Li Wei to the core.

Yi Fei sipped all her orange juice in a very unladylike way, stood up and fixed her blouse. "I'm sorry but we have a date today so please excuse us" Yi Fei grabbed Wu Chen's hand and took him away from there.

In the drama that John watched, it was the male lead that was supposed to do that kind of thing; held the female lead's hand and took her away from the potential rival but as expected of his best friend, she could be the hero too.

Yi Fei and Wu Chen were approaching the entrance of the restaurant when John shouted from the table "Yi Fei kakkoii!!! Sugoi!! You go girl" He shouted and gave her a thumb up.

Yi Fei replied by tapping her chest and pointed to the sky. Wu Chen smiled and he felt that she looked so heroic and majestic at the moment like a Wonder Woman – his Wonder Woman.

Li Wei, on the other hand, was feeling lost. She purposely tried to sow a seed of insecurity to Yi Fei's mind by thanking Wu Chen for that night. She purposely left out some details to make it like she and Wu Chen did something at that night.

But who knew that Yi Fei and Wu Chen had already resolved the misunderstanding and now they became even closer than before.

Seeing how Wu Chen gazed lovingly at Yi Fei made Li Wei's heart bleed. She was the one who supposed to get that gaze from Wu Chen. She couldn't accept this loss. She did not want to. She had been clenching her fist until her knuckle was white without her realizing.

John coughed a few times to get Li Wei's attention.

"You should just give up. Go and make something beautiful out of your life" John stood up and left the table too; leaving Li Wei to stand there alone.
