Think Legend of Zelda dungeon castle split into 3 pieces, as each piece was built on a separate 'island' of rock to dig out of the mist. All linked together by pa.s.sageways, bridges, and with the lights of many guards holding torches filling it all.

Oh yeah. This was a Dungeon.
