The moment she arrived at the venue and reported to her first day of work to the management, one of the attendants briefed her about what she needs to do.
It was actually Mu Lingxi's first time entering a sports complex within Majika. As such she was overwhelmed by the grandness of the place.
Outside, the Zodiac Arena does not look any different from the other emporiums and establishments located nearby. It does not even stand out at all because it looks too ordinary, to say the least.
Its exterior design is too plain and simple. The building is painted with all white with a plaque hanging above the entrance of the door saying 'ZODIAC ARENA'.
She thought that the Zodiac arena is just a small establishment, considering the size of the building. But when she went inside she was amazed by what she saw.
The interior of Zodiac Arena is a stark contrast to its plain and unattractive exterior. Inside the establishment, it looked no different from a high-end business.
A gigantic chandelier had been hung in pride of place in the grandiose hallway. The chandelier alone appeared to be worth more than the combined annual income that Mu Lingxi could possibly earn.
It dripped with the best cut diamonds and was made from white gold. Twelve branches stretched out from the central base, each one's is adorned by diamonds.
At the ends of each arm was a small s.p.a.ce, just the right size for a thin candle to slot into. The place looked more like a hotel rather than a sports complex. But apparently that is just the lobby used to accept its guests.
Mu Lingxi did not expect that the simple-looking and small building of Zodiac Arena actually house such a luxurious place inside of it.
"This will be your station from now on. All you have to do is make sure that we have enough stocks and supplies of arrows and darts ready. At all times. By the way, my name is Xie Bo."
The attendant who a.s.sisted Mu Lingxi around the place told her everything she needs to know about her job.
"My name is Su Yan. Thank you for helping me out today, Xie Bo. It is nice to meet you."
"If there is anything you need in the future, just look for me. I'll have to leave you now. I Just temporarily left my station to a.s.sist you briefly today."
"Okay. Thanks again"
"Don't' worry, there are still nine more warlocks that will be working here with you, so you won't be alone. Most probably they were already on their way here. There are a total of ten workers for this hall, five for the darts room and five for the archery room. "
After saying that Xie Bo took his leave. Since the other nine warlocks have not arrived yet, Mu Lingxi was left all alone inside the vast room.
Looking around her she saw that the place is divided by a hall. The other half of the room has a set of bow and arrows on its station. While the other half has a bunch of sharp-looking objects placed on each station.
Just across each of those stations, a board was placed to set as the target for the shooting range.
There is also a small staff room down the hall where customers can ask for a.s.sistance if they need one. It also serves as a small counter where the sports supplies can be refilled if needed.
Each customer will be given a personal attendant that will a.s.sist them in refilling their supplies or the weapon every time they were about to use it up. This is done to make sure that their customers will be able to focus on their training.
That is one of Mu Lingxi's job. Whenever a customer is running out of supplies, for example, an arrow, she will have to bring them another set of new arrows.
Supposedly, the job will be a lot easier if they will just inscribe incantations over that tray holding the weapons so that it can refill by itself.
But the Zodiac Arena values its customer service. To the point that they want to provide personal a.s.sistance for each of their customers.
This is to make sure that there is always someone around that will accommodate whatever special needs they have.
After a while, the other nine warlocks who will be working with Mu Lingxi finally arrived. Three of them were newbies like Mu Lingxi while the other six were already doing this job for quite some time now.
Just like what Xie Bo said, their group of ten will have t be divided into two, which will be decided among themselves.
Mu Lingxi was a.s.signed to the station in the dart room.
Unlike the typical sports of darts where players used to shoot dart shafts, Zodiac Arena provides its customers with real deadly weapons such as sharp daggers and Kunai knives.
There are two of them in the group that is new to the job so their seniors allowed them to stay inside the staff room in the meantime.
The other three warlocks in their group will be the one to run around and personally a.s.sist the customers. While Mu Lingxi and the other newbie will just have to prepare the set of daggers in advance.
Each batch of supplies has a set of 20 daggers in total. Now, their job is to make sure that each batch has enough number of sharpened daggers. They just have to prepare as many batches of daggers ready for a refill later on.
When the Zodiac Arena finally opened up for business that day, the dart room received three customers. Just enough for the three warlocks to a.s.sist.
Mu Lingxi did not have any hard time coping with the job. It was too easy and stress-free. In fact, she even finds it a little bit tedious.
All she needs to do is count daggers and sharpen it if needed. Then prepare batches of sharpened daggers ready for a refill.
"I can do it even with my eyes closed... Haaayyyy"
Mu Lingxi said out of boredom. She had been doing the same thing over and over again for almost two hours now. Right now, she felt no different from a robot
"You are Su Yan, right??? I'm Cai Bo.."
"Hi, Cai Bo. By the way, how did you know my name???"
Well, Mu Lingxi did not expect that she also had certain fame even among men.
"Well, I'm also a student from the red realm. We belong to the same cla.s.s.
"Ohhh... I'm sorry. didn't know."
"No, it's okay. I'm not surprised at all. I already know that you only make friends with people of high standings. "
For some reason, Mu Lingxi did not like how the other party's words sounded.
"What do you mean by that???!"
"Ohh, no offense meant. I was just telling you what the rest of our cla.s.smates were thinking about you behind your back. Especially now that they saw you working in a part-time job just like us"
"Huh?? What's wrong with working with part-time jobs???"
"There's nothing wrong with working with part-time jobs. But if it was you doing it, it will look strange."
"Huh???"
"What I mean is a lot of us did not expect that you will be doing menial jobs like this just to earn magic stones. During our cla.s.s, you only talk with n.o.bles so we though that also have equal standing with them
"n.o.bles??? You mean Long Yue and Long Fuzi???"
Well, so far among her friends, she was only familiar wit Long Yue ad Long Fuzi's background."
"Not just them. But also Chan Gu, Fan Lei, and Yun Xue."
"Err???? They were n.o.bles as well??? How come???
"You didn't know??"
"The Long brothers, Fuzi and Yue are princes from some faraway kingdom. While Chan Gu and Yun Xue were both young masters from a prestigious clan. Fan Lei, on the other hand, is a direct disciple of a sect master from some influential sect.
"Really??? They never told me about it.."
Mu Lingxi was obviously not feigning ignorance when she said that. She honestly doesn't know that they were of such caliber.
When Cai Bo noticed how genuine the shock in the other party's voice and expression that is the only time that he realized that the other party really does have any idea about the background of the five n.o.ble.
"You have been closed to them ever since the first day of school. That is why we initially thought that you were one of them. Aside from that, you also rarely talk with anyone else."
"They are my dormmates, so obviously I'm close to them. Besides, it not that I don't want to talk with anyone else. It is just that no one aside from them is talking to me. Since I don't have anything to say with anyone, then I don't have any chance to talk to someone else aside from them."
"I see... It seemed that we misunderstood you. Anyways, don't you have any idea at all about the ident.i.ty of your dormmates???"
Since there is no much work to do, Cai Bo and Mu Lingxi chatted for a while to kill the time.
"Well, I didn't ask them about it anyway. When we introduce ourselves with one another, we just told our names."
"Well, let me tell you about them instead..."
Since Cai Bo was trying to act nice, Mu Lingxi just decided to play along and go with the flow. Besides she is was also curious to know the background of her dormmates.
"As I've told you already. Both Long Fuzi and Long Yue are princes from some faraway kingdom. They have been here at Magus Academia a year prior to us. They were the two most favored princes from their kingdom that is why they were sent here, instead of the crown prince"
Mu Lingxi is aware of that fact, so she was not surprised at all. What caught her interest is the ident.i.ty of the other three of his friends.
"Chan Gu is of the talented young master of the Chan Clan. He is not just skilled in Archery but he also displays apt.i.tude in magic. That is why his family devoted their resources for sending him here. His family has high regard for him despite the Chan family having many talented offsprings in the young generation because Chan Gu can easily rank among the top if compared to his peers."
Fan Lei, on the other hand, is from Fleeting Cloud Sect. That is the most influential sect and heir expertise is swordsmans.h.i.+p. Aside from that, he is also the direct disciple of the sect master itself.
Last but not least is Yun Xue. He is the sole young master of their clan, as such, he is receiving more resources compared to the other n.o.ble child that is studying here. Some even believe that Yun Xue is actually a crown price from some unknown kingdom.
When Mu Lingxi learned the background of each of her friends she was surprised. Leaving with them for half a year, she never felt intimidated by their presence even once.
Because never did they show off their lofty status or n.o.ble standings. They were all down to earth and never act haughty in front of others. Well, the cold and aloof, Yun Xue is, of course, an exemption of the rules
But what really left her bewildered is how the other party knows much about her friends.
Is he some sort of fanboy??
From how he talks about each of her friends' background in detail, it was as if he really does a thorough background check on them
Is he a member of their fans club!
