The two soon reached the gates of Junli's manor. Although she crossed by the entrance and made a sharp turn to the left, Qin Fuhua took a glimpse at what she was doing: the lady raised the bamboo ladder from layers of stacked hay and climbed up the roof and bounced down to the other side after she took the ladder to the other side of the manor.
Qin Fuhua was curious about the ident.i.ty of her savior since she wouldn't have possibly known someone in a higher rank due to her unfamiliarity with the city (based on the manor that he was living in). He secretly flew over to hide behind a large tree to see the maid that Qin Fuhua had been following!
"Sir Shu, the young master Junli is waiting for you in his room," Jiayi declared. Suyin grinned as she nodded her head, with Qin Fuhua observing from afar. He examined their actions. Suyin lifted a small black bag about the size of a coin bag (Junli's medicine) and walked to knock on the sliding door.
"That stupid idiot. Does she not know how to take care of herself?"
Qin Fuhua was disturbed that she was barging into a random person's room. Although Qin Fuhua wanted to investigate more and find out about what was going on with Suyin, he had to go back to attend the pighead in the brothel.
With one last look back at the manor, he hopped over to the outside of the manor and walked back to the brothel.
---------------------------------------------------------
"I'm here with medicine," Suyin lifted the black little bag. "Oh, and Shao Feng will be spending the night at his mother's place. There was a little problem that needs to be fixed."
Junli was sitting up this time, putting his weight on the right side of the bed. Although it looked like he had more energy than the day before, his face still appeared to be pale than ever.
"That's fine by me."
He glanced at her appearance. Although Suyin was dressed up as a medicine man, she still looked gracefully stunning in the outfit. He had to shake off the reminder that she was a married woman and aimed at the table about five feet away from him with his eyes, "Do you mind putting the medicine on the table and lay it out? I will be there by then." Junli softly requested. Suyin nodded her head, "Mn"
She headed straight to the table to lay out the little black bag. The bag had a couple of things in there: dried poisonous scorpion, small herbal plants that looked like buds of a flower, little b.a.l.l.s of what looked like dried pill bugs, and finely grounded green herbs.
From her guess, the medicine that Junli has been taking is critically important for his health. Poison? Herbs? It could only mean one thing: fighting against the Yin and Yang in his body.
Suyin had studied about this while she was trained by Wansun, a good friend of hers she had met that was a medicine scholar.
*Mini flashback when Suyin stayed over at Wansun's place*
"In our body, we have a Yin and a Yang. Without either one of them, our body will not properly function well. They are the function in our body, being the Yin as the organ and the Yang as our function of the organ."
Suyin had a scroll about the body's function as a Yin and Yang.
"Some poison will be given as a treatment to balance the body out. The only circ.u.mstance that this would happen is when the person is seriously ill and need to have a negative effect to hinder the illness."
*end of flashback*
Someone knocked on the door as Suyin swung her head to see who it was.
"Come in," Junli stated. A maid carried a wooden tray with her. A small, white porcelain pot was in the center of the tray. "Place it on the table and leave," Junli added.
He deliberately held himself up, enough to hold back his groan.
After putting the tray on the table, the maid hurried out.
"I know there's a lot to process, but this is what I have to deal with every day," Junli remarked, trying to laugh it off as he sat on a chair next to Suyin.
Suyin didn't respond to him, modestly sitting there with no emotion on her face.
"Hey..... h.e.l.lo?" He leaned a bit forward to look at her face. "Are you okay?" He inquired, wondering if there was something wrong with her.
"With an illness so serious as this, why are you taking this so lightly?" Suyin abruptly blurted out, her eyes directly looking at his now.
"What do you mean?" Junli leaned back this time with her sudden outburst.
"Looking at all of these medicines, having to take it every single day... it has to mean one thing only: your illness is incurable!"
Junli was surprised at her prediction. How did she know that he had an incurable disease?
"Wait... did you just figure that out by looking at all of the medicine that was in the bag?"
Suyin bit her lip and nodded her head. "Mn. There's poison that's working against other herbals that are good for you."
Junli's eyes lit up. "I knew you were a great person! It was a good idea to have you pick up the medicine!" he excitedly said, standing up from his seat. As he stood up, he could feel the immense pain at his back, causing his b.u.t.t to slowly fall back to the seat.
"What do you mean by that?" Suyin questioned. "A good idea to have me pick up the medicine?"
"According to the way how you dealt with the wound and your gentle, caring nature, I had a feeling that you have some knowledge in medicine." He said, all proud. His smile never left his face throughout this whole time.
"So, what do you have?" Suyin questioned, putting all the herbal in the teapot.
"Nothing much...." the smile that was on his face began to fade into a little pout. "Ever since I was born, the doctors couldn't find out what was wrong with me. The doctors cannot figure what is wrong with me but all they know is that I was not allowed to go out during the day because of the sun." Junli stated, pouring the medicine in the teacup.
"I've always hated drinking these." He said before taking a whole gulp of the medicine. He made a sour expression before continuing, "I've tried to go out in the sun before, but red dots appear all over my body." Junli laughed, remembering something in the past, "I nearly died because I couldn't even breathe too!" He said, shaking his head.
Suyin began to put the pieces of the puzzle together. "That explains all of the layers of clothing you wear to go out. Not to mention how white your skin is." Suyin blurted out without thinking.
"Most likely.... maybe a sun allergy. Solar urticaria?" Suyin thought to herself. It was the only crime to the illness that correlates with the problem. There was no doubt that he would have to take the medicine if he wanted to go out. There would be consequences after all.
Junli chuckled, shaking his head. "That's only if I take this medicine. Without this nasty stuff, though, I wouldn't bear to get out of here without breathing or having these red b.u.mps on my body." He then silently watched her, with a bitter grin this time.
"Because of this disease though, I grew further apart from my father" Junli added on.
Suyin gazed at him, disregarding the disease.
"When I was a bit younger, a couple of years back, I heard that my Uncle Jianhong and his wife tried poisoned my father."
He poured more medicine in the teacup and took another gulp. This time, taking in the bitter as he took a long breath.
"Funny to say that my father is a high-ranking general of Qin." He smirked, "Maybe that's why my uncle was so jealous of him. My uncle was nothing but a mere wealthy merchant with no name except a shadow behind my father's name." He paused for a second, looking down on the ground, "I heard that his wife, Mei, had planned it all along. It dragged the Prince, my father, my uncle, and that lady all in one web of a problem."
Prince? Was this related to the killing of Jianhong pig's late wife that drove him crazy?
"Didn't the Prince... kill Jianhong's wife?" Suyin questioned. She was sure that Qin Fuhua wouldn't have killed someone ruthlessly like that.
Suyin had wished that he didn't. She knew that Qin Fuhua was a good person... but the name that was given to him like the Prince of Misfortune.
Was it just all in her thoughts that he was a kind?
Junli nodded his head. "During that time, there was a lady people called, 'Meimei' who was a graceful woman that everyone believed would have ended up with the Prince. Whenever the Prince came to town, the townspeople believed that he would take her to the palace to get married to her since the two grew up together as kids."
Suyin felt her heart shrink a little after hearing that. Did the Prince have feelings for this woman... too?
"The Prince never came back for a while and Meimei got married to Uncle Jianhong. She devoted her life and heart to him..." He grimaced, "All that and she gave up her life to save his! And the one who killed him would be the person that grew up with her. The Prince had no room for any compa.s.sion for anyone but himself. It is rumored that he killed her due to his jealousy."
Suyin now felt like her stomach had plummeted this time. The Prince killing someone that grew up with him? Was he someone that she could trust?
"I still don't believe that my Aunt Mei did it. Although she was executed and killed, she wasn't the one who tried to poison my father. There was no way that she was able to do something gruesome like that. It had to be my Uncle! He was the one who wanted my father's gift given by the King so he could use it to sell for more money! That greedy old b.a.s.t.a.r.d. He's still trying to get on our good side to steal the antiques!" He slammed the table with his fist, causing Suyin to jump up.
"I'm sorry. Did I startle you?" Junli looked at Suyin, who shook her head.
"I understand the anger that is resented in you. I think that it's important for you to keep up with your health though if you want to keep fighting with that spirit." Suyin stated, pouring the last medicine into the teacup. "If you keep ignoring your daily medicine, you won't get well and you will get worse, we wouldn't want that, right?" Suyin softly said, sliding the teacup towards him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The busy streets of the brothels were filled with plenty of women down the streets and rich men howling with women by their chests.
"Hey, handsome man. Come inside and we will show you some fun." An older lady called out to Qin Fuhua, who ignored her request and hurried back to the brothel.
The brothel was busier than usual. When Qin Fuhua entered the brothel, he could see that Jianhong's face was flushed from all of the alcohol. There were only two ladies by his side now, hugging him as he continues to hand him paper money like it was nothing to him.
"It seems like my brother is having a good time." Qin Fuhua abruptly said, sitting across from the two girls.
"HAHA! Of course, I am!" Jianhong glanced at Qin Fuhua and then looked at his girls, "Where are your gals?" He asked. "I nearly fell asleep waiting for you for so long!"
Qin Fuhua could only laugh. "I apologize. I had forgotten to bring my bag of money. I wanted my dear brother to enjoy this so I decided that I should pay for this evening's time." Qin Fuhua swiftly answered.
"Come! Grab some more beautiful ladies for both of us!" He ordered Qin Fuhua to have a taste of spending time with the ladies too.
Qin Fuhua calmly smiled, "My dear brother, I am too tired and if I drink more, I will just fall asleep here until the night howls. I will grab a lady when my tiredness is gone away." He added.
Jianhong could only look at him for a second then laughed it off. "Dear brother! Don't tell me that you are already going to sleep at this hour?!" He pushed the two ladies off, ushering them to leave the room. "Dear Haus, leave this room for the two men to talk." He said. The two ladies fell down the ground and gave him a dirty look before leaving.
"It is said that women are delicate like flowers. Plucking the flowers make them less valuable." Jianhong commented, with a big grin on his face as he watched the two girls leave. "That's all they want. Money. With a big name and money, they are willing to do anything for it." He rolled his eyes from the door to Qin Fuhua, who calmly sat there to listen. "Don't you think so, dear brother Tienzheng?"
Qin Fuhua grinned, acknowledging him. "Don't you think that a little flower that was in my hands had been plucked off too?" Qin Fuhua knew where this was going. He wanted to remind Qin Fuhua that Suyin had betrayed him.
"Your lady... that woman. What was her name again? Yinsu? She was trying to pry on my money and gave you away like it was no game for her." He added.
After meeting Suyin and learning what had happened, he could feel an immense heat gradually increase from his body. Who did this guy think he is? He could only hold his anger in the form of a fist under the table across from the man who was behind all of this.
"My dear sworn brother. I would never break it apart for a mere little woman like her." Qin Fuhua gave a big smile to Jianhong. "Do you think that I married her for no reason? She was a lady of a wealthy family. I took her in so I can take care of the possessions the family would give me." he added on.
"Haha! My, what a great brother you are. Your ideas are swell just like mine!" Jianhong laughed. All of a sudden, his expression changed into a serious one. His eyes were set on Qin Fuhua's eyes immediately.
"Say, since we are this. Why don't we use your wife as an escape?" The man's volume began to decrease to a room level so that only Qin Fuhua could hear.
"Escape?" Qin Fuhua sought, with a wicked smile on his face, playing the pig's game.
"There has been something I've been wanting to get, but someone is in the way. This gift is so valuable given by the King, that the person is practically protected from it. If we were to get this gift and sell or even steal it, this city will be in the palm of our hands!" Jianhong leaned from the other side of the table, "As a sworn brother of mine, I can tell you that I tried to take it a couple of years back, but unfortunately, my bait had been taken off of the hook and killed by the nasty Prince of ours." Jianhong had whispered.
Bait? Was this man talking about the incident with Meimei? Was there foul play that didn't make Meimei the true culprit of the crime back then?
Qin Fuhua pressed forward. "What do we do with Suyin?"

"Once you find her, you will bring her to my home without telling her at night. I will have the guards follow you so that you are protected. If you betray me in any way, I will finish you in an instant with my men. We take her to my manor and we give her some medicine in her drink so that she is unconscious. During this time, we go to the manor of General Feng's home to steal the Qin heavenly sword given by the King and split the costs by all means. There is someone who wants this sword from a third party and they are asking for big loads of money that I couldn't even imagine for it!" Jianhong said, excited in his face.
Qin Fuhua's face was beginning to turn dark, in a form where his eyes were piercing through Jianhong's eyes now. Was this the man that framed lady Meimei, who gave her whole life to him and caused Qin Fuhua to kill her?
"So what is that Suyin going to be used for then?"
Qin Fuhua's body couldn't handle it any longer. The immense sense of heat began to cause his teeth to clench so that he wouldn't do something to hurt the man.
"We frame her, use her, and then when she gets executed or killed, we will be free!" He laughed. "This idea had worked back then. But the only problem I had was that I didn't have the chance to steal the precious heavenly sword bestowed by the King." Jianhong began chuckling, bowing his head to make sure that Qin Fuhua comprehends what was going on.
"Remember that I have guards outside of this brothel of mine, my dear sworn brother. You dare to do something to me, and the guards will come flying in any direction to you right now. When you left, I had already made this command. Now you are stuck with me." Jianhong only roared with laughter, leaning back on his seat as if he was the King of the world at the moment.
Qin Fuhua's fist began to shook under the table. Why the h.e.l.l did lady Meimei take the offense for then?
Was she an accomplice with the crazy man or was she faced with life or death with her decision? Qin Fuhua was the man who killed her. He was the one who believed that she loved this stupid man, but little did he know that the man's plan was far planned than anyone else's.
Qin Fuhua's clenched fists were ready to fly out at the old man at any moment now.
