Tian Yuo moved step by step, closer to where she was standing. Inch by inch, he approached the fragile looking girl whose hand gripped onto her Crossbody bag tightly. Though she was obviously nervous, her gaze remained fierce, without a trace of emotion attached.
"Stop where you are. Take another step, and I'll make sure you'll regret it." Her eyes were dark and no longer transparent to read. With his gaze still on her body, eyeing her from head to toe, he said, "Why so formal? Didn't you want me to be your husband before? If so, why would you avoid my touch?"
"Hah! What husband? I've never treated you as my husband and you'll never live to hear me call you that. You still have the chance to redeem a little, tiny bit of yourself." While distracting him, one of her hands slid down the Crossbody strap and found the lipstick sized object in it. She uncapped it and felt the tip of the product to make sure it is what she was looking for.
A confident smile appeared on her face as she warned, "Have your employees fix this elevator now. That night was a mistake and I've already forgotten about it. Tian Yuo, there are some things that will never be the same ever again. Even if you realize what you've once had, it's already too late."
For the last time, she tried to slap some sense into his pea sized brain. He took another step forward, "As long as we remain as husband and wife, anything I do will be worth it."
"What is the point of a loveless marriage? You have a big head, but a brain so small that it is barely visible on a CT scan. The papers were signed, and that will remain that way. Now, hurry and tell your staff to run this elevator." Her body shook from anger and her feet stomped twice.
"If you keep stomping, I wouldn't mind us dropping twenty floors down and end up dead." He took another step, which startled her further. When he tried to stretch his hand out, she swallowed in a wince and reacted quickly.
sssssss
"Arghh!!!!" Tian Yuo covered his entire face and rolled around the elevator floor in pain. Susu breathed heavily as she maintained the same position as before. Her arm was stretched out and her index finger was still on top of the pepper spray head. Out of desperation to get out of the situation, her body naturally reacted defensively and aimed aggressively at his eyeb.a.l.l.s.
Although she sprayed it away from herself, the spray was extremely strong as her eyes began to tear up and swell from the scent of it. She could almost imagine how painful it must have been to get that substance into one's eyes. Quickly, she waved at the security camera in the elevator and shouted, "I know you guys are watching, but if you do not run this elevator, then he will turn blind and this whole company will collapse. Do you want to lose your jobs?"
As if the security controllers behind the cameras really heard her, the elevator immediately started running again. The moment the elevator doors opened again, the medical staff was lined up with proper medical kits to a.s.sist him. While he was busy getting treated, she took this chance to sneak off and sign the divorce papers once again.
This time, she reviewed every line of the divorce papers before signing it. The adjustments that she had previously made were correctly typed in the alimony section and with that, she satisfyingly signed. Afterwards, she used the other elevators to exit the company.
When she walked out of the entrance, she noticed the awkward face on the receptionists' expression and smiled meaningfully at her. The receptionist s.h.i.+vered and swore that Susu was not someone she should ever mess with.
Meanwhile, Chen Mu sat outside of the laboratory after removing the gloves and surgeon mask from his face. He closed his eyes and faced up the ceiling as his hands wrinkled the report in his hands. The results of the pill were as he had correctly a.s.sumed, "Fludarabine...the pills that she was taking are for cancer. Early stage most likely. The cancer cells should still be slowly progressing at this point, but as of right now, it's an incurable disease. Her best chance of surviving while still in the early stages is a bone marrow transplant."
He didn't dare open his eyes to face this cruel reality. His mind was filled with memories where he stood from a distance and watched her walk towards Tian Yuo. All he could remember were the many opportunities in the past that he could have held her hands, hugged her when he wanted to and wiped the tears that she had shed for her.
Light footsteps approached him, but he could care less about it. After a while of awkward silence with a light familiar floral fragrance that filled his nostrils, his eyes opened to see Lily leaning on the counter with her arms crossed at him.
He remembered Susu mentioning that Lily's fiance is the head of the city's leading hospital, so seeing her here wouldn't be a surprise to him. Everyone knew that Lily's fiance doted on her to the point that immortals would be jealous. Therefore, giving her a simple access key to all labs in the city is not something impossible.
Around half an hour ago, Lily went to visit Lin Que and was told that someone had requested access to their top specialized experimental research lab. The person happened to be Chen Mu and his reason was that he had a pill that he wanted to further inspect.
Lily began to conclude that the pill he had in hand was one of Susu's medicine for chemotherapy use. She heard that Chen Mu was never interested in the medical field, but he managed to become the legendary genius who spent half a year or less to complete all the exams required to pa.s.s for a doctor's degree. All the papers that he wrote received full marks from the medical professors.
Without having to guess further, she already knew that he did it for Susu because Susu mentioned him brewing herb medicine for her flus after she said she hated pills and liquids. It didn't take long for her to get to the lab where Chen Mu was and once she entered, she saw him holding a report with his eyes shut tight.
'I guess he found out by himself.'
