It's done. Casimir and my romance is over and gone. For over a century, we have loved one another but it is over now.

Let me start over, a few years ago after we had moved out here to the woods, after my wounds from the night of h.e.l.l's fire had healed, I found my angel, Silas.

I was taking a midnight stroll through the forest under the full moon when I saw him. Of course, at first, I didn't realize that it was him from a distance. A flash of pale hair caught my eye and I looked over to see a blond man setting up a noose from a tree. Confused and curious, I watched from a distance as he climbed up the tree and sat on the branch he had strung the noose to. He wrapped the noose around his neck and leapt off of the branch.

I could smell the vampire blood in him so I giggled to myself at his feeble attempt to end his immortal life. He hung there cursing as I approached. I was wondering why he would want to end it. I had never seen a vampire not want to be a vampire except Leon of course, but I don't think he had ever gotten that desperate.

As I approached him, he spun around slowly and I recognized this vampire. It was Silas. I summoned a dagger and threw it at the rope, cutting him down. He crashed to the ground and I pulled my dagger back to my hand.

"Kill me, please. I know your distrust and dislike for my kind, Drusilla. Please, end my torment and torture. End me, please!" Silas begged and I realized that there was no possible way.

"No!" I said and he looked up at me. Shock washed over his face as his eyes took in my sight. I was still disfigured from that night and I think it surprised him by how much healing hadn't done. He has seen me briefly before the fire and I think the fact that nearly ten years later, I hadn't returned to my once beautiful self surprised him. "No!" I repeated trying to break the silence.

"Please," he begged again. "If you do not, I will find a way," he said as he groveled at my feet.

"No, Silas, I will not. And neither will you. We can help, Casimir and me. It doesn't have to be this way. We can help you edge off the thirst for human blood. Casimir did it with Leon, who hated being a vampire as much as you. If he can do it then so can you," I said as I knelt down in front of him.

"But, I am a monster," he cried.

"No, you do not have to be. You are not embracing the dark that makes a monster. You are immortal. You are stronger, faster and keener than you were as a human but that is all that has changed. We can help if you will let us. Please, Silas let us help you."

At that, he looked up at me sadly and gazed into my eyes. Though everything else about me had changed, my eyes had remained the same, soft, tender green. "If you think that you can help me and you truly want me to try, then I shall try," he said and I helped him to his feet.

Over the next few months, Casimir, Lothair and Leon helped Silas. He is a new vampire.

And now, my army had grown to six, if you count me, and what an army to start with, A Krznik, a Lycan, two vampire and two Kethra, though Lena isn't much of a soldier.

Even with my army building I was miserable. So was everyone else. My disfigured body was weak and ugly. The only time that I could bring myself to leave the house was usually for my own sabot celebrations. The others knew that I was losing confidence and even myself in what I had become thanks to Cato.

Then one night, as I walked through my dark forest, she found me. Hera, the queen of the G.o.ds was waiting near the creek. She had never spoke to me before but now whispered gently, "Drusilla, my gift to you as our champion is the Pomegranate, this fruit is of the dead. It shall take away the scars of death and the injustice brought upon you by man and leave your beauty as a woman." She extended her hands to me and as she said, a pomegranate sat in her hands.

I took it and bit into it. I felt warmth as I chewed and when I swallowed it, I could feel it move down into my stomach. From my core it spread to the ends of my toes and fingers. I looked down at my hands and could see the soft skin that covered them. My scars were gone and I smiled brightly at Hera. "Now this fruit shall only work for you and it shall stay with this body. You may not share it or use it on my husband but it is yours to keep," and at that, she disappeared.

I ran home as fast as I could, feeling the strength in my muscles that I had not felt in so long. I swung the door open and everyone stopped and stared at me. "Am I beautiful again?" I nearly yelled. They all just stared at me for a moment. "Well?"

"How?" Lena asked with a smile.

"Drusilla?" Silas questioned.

"Yes," I answered Silas, and then looked at Lena. "Hera," I paused and looked at everyone. "She gave me a pomegranate to make me beautiful again, strong again." I smiled, holding up the fruit and nearly jumped up and down with joy. "I don't have to be a monster anymore!"

The room was silent at that. I'm not sure if it was shock or disbelief in their faces.

"Hera, gave you a pomegranate, the fruit of the dead?" Leon was the one to speak, it doesn't surprise me considering he is Greek. He knows all of the legends.

"Yes," I explained what she had said about the fruit and what it was meant for.

"Well, I am glad that you are happy. It is refres.h.i.+ng to see you smile. It has been quite some time." Casimir was the one to say.

Everyone was happy for me and before long everything went back to normal except now I actually leave the house.

Then one night, I found Deidre. Yes, the wh.o.r.e who made Leon, my Leon, a monster! I wanted to kill her but Casimir was there and of course he wanted to preach about his peaceful resolutions but I would not have it. She was going to pay for what she had done to Leon and in turn, my son. My son had been her fault. She had given Leon the idea to go after my family, so Darin was her idea as well. I had her pinned when Casimir started defending her. Talking about helping her, I didn't even look at him before I killed her.

"Drusilla!" he yelled.

"No, I do not want to hear it, Casimir. You do not understand!" I shouted back. "She was the reason Leon became what he was! She's the reason he did what he did!" I was screaming.

"But look at Leon now! He is a changed man. He is a monster no more!"

"No, he is no longer a monster but a sh.e.l.l of what he used to be when he was human! When he was mine! Now, he is weak! He used to be able to look me in the eye, now he cannot even come close to me because he is so eaten with guilt. He cannot even bring himself to speak to me."

"No," he interrupted me. "He does not come near you because you hate him and he knows it. We all know it. You are cold and callous to him, Dru! What can you possibly expect from him?"

"You do not know what you are talking about, Casimir. You have no idea what he and this wh.o.r.e have put me through! Call me cold! Call me callous! Call me whatever you want but I deserve some level of hatred for him and her!" I spat and pointed at the body on the ground.

Casimir's nostrils flared as his lips pursed together. "You are the most irrational, irritating woman I have ever met, Drusilla!"

That is when I hit him. I hit him full force with my fist. He stepped back at the blunt contact and looked at me wildly. "Do not tell me that I am irrational! You do not know what you are saying. Do not lecture me, Casimir. You are the one who is irrational! Thinking that you can fix the world, rid it of the evil. Now, that is irrational! Evil has its place in this world; you will never have peace, why don't you understand that, Casimir? You are a Krznik for a reason. You have all of this strength, this power for a reason. Why not embrace it instead of fight it. Instead of fighting this gift that you have been given, why not use it and fight with me?"

"Because, I cannot! I will not succ.u.mb to the evil within myself! You may, but I will not!"

That is what broke everything. I attacked him. I felt my rage bubble over and I unleashed it on Casimir. We fought, swinging at each other. He unleashed the Krznik and we beat each other until there was no more strength in either of us. And that was the end of Casimir and me. Casimir, the incredibly powerful Krznik, and Drusilla, the Champion of the G.o.ds, are no more.
