The hundreds of arrows along with hundreds of spears carried the might to besiege an entire city. Yet, they used this kind of attack to kill a hundred people. This alone showed how determined the enemy was to bury the 4th imperial prince along with them.
Mark had already known that there were more people hiding behind the trees in the mountains that encompa.s.sed both side of the valley, which was why he tried to finish the first waves of enemies as soon as possible to draw out the rest, but he never thought that they would use this kind of long-range attack.
Furthermore, these people weren't weaklings either. Facing an army of more than four hundred warriors with only a hundred warriors wasn't an easy matter. Even though he had the a.s.surance to come out unscathed from this battle, but the same couldn't be said for the regular members of the Lightning Corps.
At this moment, he couldn't be worried about his companions due to this large scale of aerial attack. It was every man for himself. Furthermore, the 4th imperial prince wasn't inside the carriage, so that was one less thing to worry about.
Even though he was an apeak 6th rank warrior, if he doesn't concentrate on dodging and blocking the incoming arrows along with the spears that were coming straight at him, he will be nailed down onto the ground.
Not only Mark, the other three imperial knights along with the members of the Lightning Corps had a serious look on their faces as well. Facing this kind of large-scale aerial attack, they didn't dare to relax because the slightest mistake could cost them their lives.
In the meantime, The hundreds of arrows and spears were like a down-pouring rain. They gave off a whistle sound as though they were cutting through s.p.a.ce.
The hundred of lightning Corps as well the four imperial knights had their weapons ready as they were looking at the trajectory of the incoming attacks, ready to dodge and block them.
As for the Mountain tigers survivor, they had a look of horror on their faces as they were looking at the sky. They didn't expect that not only their ally didn't even bother to come in their aid but wanted to bury them along with the enemy as well.
The hundreds of arrows and spears dove down from the sky along with an incomparably sharp sense of power and shrill roars. Some member of the mountain tigers raised their s.h.i.+elds in a flurry, attempting to block those arrows and spears from piercing their bodies.
However, their sc.r.a.ppy metal s.h.i.+elds were as fragile as pieces of papers under the power of the arrows and spears. In a short time, screams echoed through the valley and a storm of blood exploded as the hundred of arrows and spears penetrated their throats and harvesting their lives. Blood ceaselessly squirted out from their wounds.
The rest of the mountain tigers that luckily survived the attack of the Lightning Corps has vanished from the face of the earth after this single attack. The whole valley of death looked like an ocean of blood like someone splas.h.i.+ng ink into a picture frame.
As for the Lightning Corps members, even though none of them died during this attack, but some of them were gravely injured as some of the arrows pierced throughtheir shoulders and legs.
The only people that came out unscathed during this attack were the four imperial knights, as 6th rank warriors they were able to block and dodged most of the attacks. Especially for Mark, he was able to cut down every single spears and arrow that came his way with his heavy long sword.
As he was blocking the spears with his sword, fiery sparks were flying everywhere as he slammed his sword against them. The sparks fell like a meteor shower around him.
After the four imperial knights, as well as the Lightning Corps, survived the first waves of attack, they breathed a sigh of relief. However, soon, They saw the four hundred men in black were getting ready to launch a second wave of attack.
Seeing this, no matter how fearless they were, they started to feel a hint of fear in their heart. If the enemy was to attack them head-on, they had the confidence to take them on but if they stayed on top of the mountain and started to shoot arrows and spears at them continuously, it would be a huge problem for them.
Even though they might not be able to kill all of them, some of them would still die which will reduce their overall strength. Aside from that, they will be worn out by continuously dodging and blocking more than a hundred arrows and spears after a certain amount of time.
Their only chance was to attack the enemy head on, but they were on both side of the valley. They would have to divide their troops into two groups in order to attack the enemy simultaneously.
Furthermore, even they did, it's not like the enemy was going let them climb the mountain leisurely without attacking them in the process. the other way they could do this was only if they had a powerful mage among them that could launch a powerful long-range attack to distract them and break their formation. Unfortunately, the 4th imperial prince was the only powerful mage among them. They weren't even sure that he could cast such a long distance spell either. Furthermore, This was a test issued by him, which means that if they asked him for help, they would automatically fail the test. Not only that, they don't even know where he went.
While the Lightning Corps Including the four imperial knights were racking their brains in finding a way to get out from this dangerous situation, an unexpected sight unfolded.
An enemy soldier looked up at the sky and fell down to his knees. It was like a domino effect as the rest of them followed.
In the sky, directly above their heads, a huge black hole appeared. The black hole expanded again and again until it encompa.s.sed half of the mountain they were standing.
Darkness encompa.s.sed that particular location of the mountain as the sunlight failed to pierce through that black hole. It was as though the sky was torn and a huge gap opened.
Looking at the huge black hole up in the sky, they felt a deep sense of primal fear as though they were looking at the most dangerous thing in the world. Their instincts told them to run but they were unable to move a single muscle for some reason.
Suddenly,
~Bzzzzt, bzzzzzt~
A rain of lightning arrows poured down from that huge black hole like a heavenly punishment. There wasn't any sound of thunder but the crackling sound of the lightning arrows that poured down from the black hole like a divine punishment.
fifty, a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, a number of lightning arrows that couldn't be counted with the human naked eye, struck the men in black that were hiding in the mountains like a meteor shower.
They let out pained screams as the lightning arrows pierced through their throats and heads and burned their skins. Even the 3rd rank warriors couldn't overcome the pain as the lightning arrows pierced through their bodies and burned them from the inside.
Not only that, they weren't struck by one but multiple lightning arrows at once. Every time they got hit, they let out deathly screams and collapse into the ground. There was no way they could get away from that heavenly punishment. The men in black killed by the lightning arrows fell to the ground and quickly turned into charcoal.
It only took twenty seconds for the men black that were on the left side of the valley to be completely destroyed.

"..."
In front of the more than two hundred men black that had become charcoal, the whole valley of death was soaked in silence, whether it was the Lightning Corps, the four imperial knights or the enemy, their mouths were wide opened as they were watching that unbelievable scene in from them. They had no idea where the black hole came from nor the lightning arrows.
The lightning Corps and the four impartial knights were even more baffled because they didn't know since when they had such a powerful person backing them. This kind of power was enough to lay waste a small city and only a high-rank mage would possess such a power.
In a split second, Mark who was the most powerful and knowledgeable of them, quickly came up with a frightening possibility of who that person might be.
" No, It's impossible." Mark's face turned slightly pale, finding it hard to accept this truth.
