Oddly enough she didn't stop munching after I told her to stop. She was eating through it at a ridiculous speed and a tree that was a half a meter thick was felled just like that. Golden mist?

Was that not a tree? A treant is the only species of monster that I can think of but, this tree didn't have a face. Wait something weird is going on..... I start paying attention to my surroundings. The height of this cave reaches dozens of kilometers high and it even has some sort of pseudo sky. There are clouds and plenty of lighting. If I hadn't read that diary I might have thought that this may be the surface.

Behind my back is the blue-gray stone making a wide wall that slowly slopes upwards. This cavern may be in the shape of a dome. Then there is what is to my sides and in front.

A forest full of life. Trees, berry bushes, flowers, small streams, insects, and critters. All untainted by mankind. However in that beautiful scene, was something genuinely disturbing. Eyes. I thought Kess had creepy eyes but this is much worse. All the tree's had redish bloodshot eyes and were staring at me.

I was right they are treants. However they do not look happy. As I start edging back towards the cave, I realize that the they are just staring. Not moving. Can they not attack? Maybe they can't move? Well, this is an oppurtunity then! Either that or a trap but, what the case, I can get benefits and flee in the worse case. 'Kess take your spiderlings and start taking down treants'. 'Set you're with me".

Taking my spider limb spear from earlier I start jabbing a treant in its eye and Set cuts it clean in half with a flick of ink. Wah?!?! That was way more lethal than I thought it was!!! I wonder why it didn't do much to the broken egg earlier? Anyways, time for a hunt.

It was by the time that the fourth tree fell that something changed. The treants have developed full facial features which are staring even more intensely. They also started making weird noises. Whenever they move their mouths a weird noise similar to bending wood is made. I have a bad feeling. Lets stop killing.

Holy h.e.l.l!!! The tree's are standing up on their roots! I was afraid this would happen at first but, I figured they couldn't move and could only stare. 'Kess we need to get out of here!'

I give Kess an order and we all start sprinting towards the cave. However, the treants start blocking it with their roots so we can only go in the direction with the least amount of them.

My arms get clipped a couple times while Set keeps the more deadly swinging branches away. The spiderlings are less lucky, getting caught in tangling roots or being stomped. into the ground. Some sacrifice themselves to protect Kess too.

Finally! An open field is ahead and further on is a 40 meter high rocky cliff. We start pulling way ahead as treants are pretty slow. I get the few spiderlings that Kess doesn't need and have them carry me up the face of it. These guys are pretty strong. Most of the ones we left behind are still alive but, they are slowly being suffocated to death.

I look down to see dozens of treants reaching the cliff. They just make angry snapping noises at me and wave their branches. I pay close attention to them as they may have some special means to do something. I was right, out of all the treants a short but ma.s.sive one about 6 meters thick at its base and 5 meters tall comes out. Its roots are really ridiculous as well as they are a meter each.

It latches onto the cliff and starts climbing. s.h.i.+t.... The cliff is against the wall of the cave so we have nowhere to go.... We can only fight... I start converting portions of the cliffs edge into poison resulting in it sliding down onto the shorty. He starts screaming a terrible sound and is squirming. The trees below scatter as poison pours down the cliff

It works! Again! Again! After the third time I'm out of mana as it still hasn't entirely regenerated. Shorty has turned a terrible shade of green and is even more p.i.s.sed off. As he makes his way up I think of another plan and send a couple messages to Set and Kess.

As his head makes it over the edge, I first have Kess jab a couple metal spikes into his face, resulting in an ear-piercing roar. After that I had Set, who had detached from me earlier, slice a couple of vital roots. One last spike to the face and shorty went tumbling down and....

*Craaashhhh

A large golden mist as big as me swirls around and I draw it in.
