Arachnomancer 50 Part Of Me

With the King and Queen dead, the subjugation of the rest of the soldiers went quickly. Xelu and Nemesis did a good job and actually wiped a good portion of them out. It seemed that the centipedes tried to attack as well but, they died due to the spore clouds that are still lingering everywhere. Not only that, they seem to be trying to revive the fallen soldiers as well.....

Anyways, what now? I look around at the upheaved brick, pools of poison, corpses, and finally, at the place where the cards were sitting. Surprisingly, there is one card lating there. Unlike the previous ones this one doesn't give off any feeling. I walk over cautiously to see what it is....

A completely red card with numerous eyes swirling on it. They seem to be watching me.... Antic.i.p.ation? Odd. Well, I'd rather pick up this card then the previous ones..... Should I though? Honestly it may have been the better choice to pick one of the three cards earlier. I did not know the battle capabilities of the metal cow people. With the amount of information that I lack when it comes to just about everything, it may be a miracle that I'm still alive. Vulki can fill in some information but, she has only knows so much.

Getting lost in though a good few hours pa.s.s. With my mana regenerating I finally get enough to resummon Kess which I immediately do. A small metal circle with countless engravings pop up and a mound forms. A few moments later the mound explodes into Kess' form. Well, I guess it is Kess. She stands up from laying down and looks around with a confused expression..... Wait, how do I know how to read spider expressions? Hmmm, perhaps I got that vibe through telepathy?.....

"Did I pa.s.s out or something???" Kess

"Uhhhh, no. You died. I resummoned you just now." Gin

"??? Well I guess it's about the same huh? Anyway- Nemesis!!! Don't tell me you took all the corpses!!!!" Kess

I look over to see a army of blue-green stautes standing and trying out movements. They look a little weird with mushrooms spouting out of the c.h.i.n.ks in their armor. They also have a moss-like covering over their armor as well.... Kess and Nemesis seem to be arguing a bit so I'll leave them. Getting in the middle of fights is something that never pans out how you would imagine it too.... Eventually Kess has ber spiderlings carry away a few of the soldiers despite them being 'alive'.....

It's just good that Kess is okay. I was worried that death would have penalties like losing memories or it would alter their personality. Looking at her status nothing seems to have changed. Speaking of.... It seems that we barely earned any experience here. I figured that the statues would provide a good bit but.... Nothing. We got about a thousand from the centipedes..... It's going to be hard to reach level 15 huh.

Leaving my thoughts, my vision is placed on that card again. To do or not to do.... Fiddling with the ring on my finger, I decide to go for it. This situation is quite different to the previous one. I'm not being coerced into it. Instead my own desire and curiosity drives me to do it. That could be a trap in and of itself....

I pick up the card and the eyes in it squint in happiness as a small smile is formed out of nowhere.... Not a creepy one but, a slightly cute one? My sense of what is 'cute' may be a little skewed. It seems to react with my ring and, eventually, the card turns into red threads that fuse with it. The rings a bit special too huh. The system doesn't register it as anything special....

'h.e.l.lo' ????

I hear a voice through something similar to telepathy which makes me a little panicky in the inside. I respond with a 'h.e.l.lo'. I get no replies so, I try a few more times asking various questions.

Could I have had a small hallucination or something. I have heard that humans have many small hallucinations everyday. They just don't realize it. Think you saw a shadow, mishear something, confuse an inanimate object for a living thing.... This seemed more 'vivid' though....

I'll try again later I guess. After everyone is set up we make our way out of the temple. Gravity could flip back since we finished it. I half-cling to set who digs her legs into the brick the last few steps out of the temple...

Instead of falling, we return back to our original positions. The exit is filled with spiderlings from the nest. They must have been worried after we lost contact. I decide to keep the pa.s.sageway to this place but, I have the spiderling make webs across the opening to serve as a warning. There may be something to gain from this place still. We haven't even checked the lake yet.

I return to the main room of the nest and I lay down on the viscous bed that Set made me. I'm..... Tired....

Aein's been getting a little more interested in him as well. Only natural when you spend your days watching someone~. A bit stalkerish, no? Well, I did make that part of her job.... She could be considered a part of me so that's fine, even if feelings do develop. Will develop. Those little ones can be considered a part of me as well now that I think of it~.
