Chapter 847: Chapter 845-Enemies?
"I will then see you on the other side."
I spoke, waving my hand at her, to which Girika nodded her head, her gaze looking through me as she spoke.
"Before, I was keeping all those with power reeling to go after you with the fact that you might perhaps join our side. Once I give them the green light, I won't be in control of what the dumbest of them do with their powers, especially ones that still have an eye for your sister."
My eyes narrowed at those words of Girika, but I didn't reject them as I, with a nod, replied,
"Thanks, I will keep them in mind. But you should also know this-I am very protective of my family, and I won't hesitate to build a world of corpses to keep them safe, another thing I picked from my grandfather, Max."
Girika, too, took in my words as she stood up from the seat, the meeting between the two of us having come to an end. As Girika started to walk to the exit, though, the moment before she did, she paused, her head turning to look back at me as she said her final words,
"It's a pity, you would have been a great ally."
With those words, Girika finally left, taking along with her protectors too, leaving me in this place, seated on the chair with a thoughtful face. The truth is, I did poke at her reverse scale, which would mean she would be sending in the worst of the lot against me. I already have a small idea of how she wants to play this.
But that was before I pressed her where she hurt the most. Now, it would only be harder to fully understand what she will do. She will be more ruthless and power-driven to get back at me. Thankfully, I pushed her anger down a bit by showing what I could do-beating down her best protectors without even moving an inch from my location.
This situation has changed the whole gameplay for Girika. She's come to understand that I am more dangerous than I show and that perhaps she needs to lay more detailed plans to affect the ones around me and myself. It would be a fool's errand to think this is over in any sense of the way.
"The true h.e.l.l is yet to begin.'
As I thought of this, the door to the café opened up again. Yet this time, another beauty, Isabella, entered the frame, her bright red hair tied perfectly into a bun, leaving certain strands outward like a waterfall put well together by a beautiful b.u.t.terfly pin. Her dress, as red as her hair, modestly stuck to her body.
Her eyes, their beautiful light red, a bit narrowed as she walked and took a seat, sitting right in the spot that Girika was sitting in before. Our gazes met as Isabella looked me up and down, those unemotional kuudere-like eyes focused fully on me as she finally spoke,
"I underestimated you."
"Happens,"
I replied, to which Isabella asked,
"What are you going to do now?"
Her question made me raise my eyebrow at her as I asked her a question instead,
"Let me ask you something else. What makes you confident enough to show me the truth like this? Aren't you afraid that I will spill this, and before things happen, your position within this alliance will fall?"
My question made her look at me in some more depth, after which she responded,
"I did this at this time so that it wouldn't matter if this came out anymore. Also, a small heads-up to you take it as a small help."
I smirked at her words, my gaze travelling through her face. It's quite simple to see who the greatest traitor in this circ.u.mstance is. It's not just the info that Girika might have gathered, but also the information that Isabella had gathered, that is helping toward these quick movements to take everything down.
After all, being as smart as Isabella is and as untrusting, she would have undoubtedly tried to get all the information she could about the rest of her compet.i.tion. This would mean she has some years of info about the total structure of the enemy, and she had no doubt used that as the bargaining chip to secure some powerful position within the alliances of the outsider
faction.
It also comes to show why it's happening all this fast-information, good information that can be used, takes time to get. And if you are new to this game, then it will take longer, as getting credible information and data, which the others are using to drive a wedge, isn't just found on the street.
Everyone will have to give their time and effort in order to get data that can even be used, but with Isabella jumping s.h.i.+ps, those problems became easy to solve, and along with it, the time needed to cause such issues also reduced. In a way, if the existing factions fall, it will mostly come from all the data that Isabella had given up.
'Quite the real snake she is.'
I thought, for a moment, fleetingly, seeing the gaze of Isabella as a snake, and I didn't have anything against it. It's her right if she wants to join another side and sell out all her former comrades. Hey, I ain't judging.
"You will be hated by everyone once this happens. Perhaps even your own faction will get destroyed from the inside, unable to deal with such losses. Do you think you will be able to deal with it all?"
I asked, my tone neutral, to which Isabella replied,
"It won't be an issue. All of them are only loyal to me, and I have raised enough power that they only care about whether they are not the outside ones."
I smirked a bit at that response as I asked,
"Do you think that will be enough? That still doesn't take away the lower-ranked members who will resist this and whose lives within the academy might turn for the worse when all the others turn against them, and they will have no place to go under."
My words caused a small change in Isabella's expression, her face turning to the side a bit cutely as she asked,
"How is that my issue?"
It was pure, and it was innocent, but that's what made it all the more dangerous. As I took in the answer, my expression didn't change at any of her words as I asked,
"Do you think you will have a good impression within this academy or anywhere else after this is done? The clubs, the sectors, perhaps even some teachers-they will turn against you. They won't do it openly, but there will be enormous hate here. You might even be marked as the worst betrayer in the history of this academy. Will you be able to deal with this?"
I asked, and Isabella didn't reply to that question directly. She put on a thoughtful face, after which she spoke,
"The truth will be written by the victors. I just joined the side that had overwhelming power at their hands, and when time goes by, so will the truth. Be it here or anywhere else, true power dictates action. Once true power is shown, the rest that can only yap will shut their mouths."
"That's true. This is not my old world after all.'
I internally mused at that thought as I finally responded to Isabella's first question. "We will still go forth with the acquisition into that realm. And yes, I will keep this amicable relations.h.i.+p here till we finish the task, after which we will be full-blown enemies. Is that
alright?"
My reply made Isabella nod her head as she spoke,
"Your engagement talks with Carmel-has it gone forth to anything?"
Her question made my eyes narrow for a moment, after which I replied coolly,
"No, it's just some talks, and I don't plan to marry a girl I don't love. I fought too hard for freedom like that."
My words no doubt made Isabella a bit confused, but she didn't stick up on it as she asked,
"When can we start?"
"Next week, we will move. I need to settle some things, and after that, we will set forth to the
country of Angria."
As I said this, I took out a doc.u.ment from my spatial ring and slid it forth to Isabella, who
took it and started to read it through, her face remaining impa.s.sive as I spoke in between her
reading,
"There are the stuff I will need. Make sure to set it all up. Also, it indicates the rules and
people, all of which can be used."
Isabella went forth to read it for some time, after which she placed it back on the table, her
gaze remaining neutral as she spoke,
"This is all acceptable. Then I shall see you in a week."
As she said this, Isabella stood up from her seat, though before she could move, I asked her
something.
"Why did you take the risk of revealing it to me now? Did you not think that I would be mad with this betrayal and refuse to help you out?"
My words made Isabella pause as she, looking down at me, replied,
"It was a risk, yes, but it was a worthy one. I had a basic understanding of your character to understand something like this won't affect you. And even if it did, with the war council's help, sooner or later, everything would have settled down."
With those words, Isabella left, leaving me seated in the chair.
