Chapter 808

“You’ve really done it!” Barton said as Dio teleported back to the Avengers’ side.

“Why would it matter? They abandoned their humanity as soon as they escaped the Earth!” Dio said as he chuckled with a satisfied look on his face. Steve fell into silence for a moment as he was also furious by what the Pentagon had done, but he still couldn’t accept Dio’s ways of doing things. But as the deed was done, there was nothing he could do! 

In outer s.p.a.ce, countless missiles were scattered, trying to divert the first asteroid’s trajectory. The missiles. .h.i.t the first asteroid right in the middle, causing a big explosion as the asteroid was blown out in pieces. 

But many of the asteroid debris scattered and entered the atmosphere with a high velocity. Follow-up missiles under Friday’s control were deployed, targeting the bigger asteroid pieces so that they would burn in the atmosphere. 

However, the chaos still ensued on the surface! The people kept screaming for their lives as they had never encountered something like this. 

Nevertheless, there were still two other asteroids that would hit the Earth in a matter of half an hour!

“The next two asteroids still target the Earth, and they follow the same trajectory as the first one!” Friday’s voice was heard on Tony’s communication device. Tony frowned after he heard Friday’s report. This meant that a large amount of weaponry would only hit the second Asteroids, while the third one wouldn’t get diverted if their firepower was too weak! 

“Friday, give me the best course of action!” Tony ordered.

“It is highly recommended to use the remaining 80% of the firepower for comprehensive destruction. The destruction of the asteroid’s success rate is around 60%,” Friday reported.

“But if we use almost all of our firepower right now, what should we use for the next 2 asteroids?” Tony said with a frown on his face.

“I recommend using the Nuclear Bomb for that instance,” Friday said calmly. Tony frowned once again as he knew that using the Nuclear bomb was definitely the last resort! He knew the destruction a nuclear could bring, so he was reluctant to use one.

“a.s.sess the damage of using the nuclear bomb!” Tony said weakly. He didn’t really want to hear about the consequences of using a nuclear bomb. The worst-case scenario would be nuclear would irradiate the Earth and make the Earth unsuitable for life! The Earth could fall into Nuclear Winter, and it would be severely devastating! 

Tony couldn’t make this decision by himself. Furthermore, he didn’t receive the Nuclear Launch Code from the big countries! Even if he wanted to use the nuclear missiles, he didn’t have access to them. So, he looked at the others with an expectant look as he wanted them to give a solution to his problems.

“Is there any other good option? We just have to make a step one at a time! We gave the final decision up to humanity itself!” Dio said solemnly… 

“Maybe you are right! Maybe that is our only way!” Tony said exasperatedly.

“Why don’t we just snap the Infinity Gauntlet and make the Asteroids go puff?” Scott suddenly weakly said as he looked left and right unsurely.

Everyone suddenly stopped and turned to look at Scott surprisedly.

“Hey guys, I think we have a better way than using nuclear weapons!” Banner said as he lifted the Infinity Gauntlet into the air for everyone to see. “We still have the Infinity Gauntlet! If it could destroy the universe, it shouldn’t be a problem to snap three asteroids out of existence!” Banner said confidently. 

Everyone was excited to hear Banner’s little speech as they found hope once again! They forgot all about the Infinity Stones as they were too focused on the Asteroids. 

“Bruce, can you still do it?” Tony asked solemnly.

Bruce Banner just bitterly smiled as he didn’t even know himself whether he still could snap the Infinity Gauntlet or not. The energy from the Infinity Gauntlet was terrifyingly strong that the first one had already fried his right arm, but he didn’t know if he was capable of withstanding the second one!

But Bruce just nodded his head without saying anything and immediately put on the Infinity Gauntlet again. Dio already fixed his right hand earlier. If he survived this second snap, Dio could fix him again, right?

For a moment, the 6 energies of the Infinity Stones raged inside his body once again. His right arm started to burn badly again, and this time, it was much worse than the first one! The energy from the Infinity Gauntlet crept on Banner’s skin like a spiderweb and began to spread all around other parts of his body. 

Banner would be scorched to death before even snapping his fingers! 

“Bruce! Talk to me, how are you doing!” Tony shouted as he saw Banner’s condition get worse! 

“d.a.m.n it! He couldn’t do it anymore, take the Gauntlet off of him!” Dio said worriedly.

“I will take it off!” Spiderman shouted as he quickly put his hands on the Gauntlet to take it off. But, Peter was immediately blown away as he was blasted by the energy of the Gauntlet. Suddenly, the Infinity Gauntlet emitted powerful energy, making it hard for anyone to get close. 

“Hurry up! Think of a way to take it off Banner’s hand! Or Banner will die!” Natasha said nervously.

“Step aside!” Dio said as he pulled out his scythe, ready to cut Banner’s hand. Dio put the blade of his scythe on top of Banner’s carbonized hands and sliced it off. It was easy to cut it as Banner’s hand burned severely!

Thor kicked Banner’s amputated hand, and it shattered to dust as the energy from the Gauntlet destroyed them into atoms! Everyone was profusely sweating as they were nervous about Banner’s conditions! 

“What is happening?” Natasha asked curiously.

“Probably the effect of his previous snap was still there, and by putting on the Gauntlet once more, the effect got amplified!” Dio said worriedly. He used to do the same thing to the Power Stone. Dio noticed that he could use more energy from the Power Stone with each use!

This was also the reason why Dio remained cautious as he used the Power Stone. If he used it too often, he didn’t know what danger it would bring. Then again, he had already thought of 2 things that might happen to his body. The first one was that his body adapted to the Infinity Stones, and he could use them to his heart’s content.

Or his body could be badly damaged by the energy inside the Infinity Stones, similar to what happened to the Hulk right now!
