Shui Linger roared like a lion.

When hearing the word “seductive”, Zi Qin's dark eyes became deep, and he stared at Shui Linger as sharply as a hawk. He moved quickly. The audience only saw him like a wind pa.s.sing by, and soon he stood before Shui Linger, leaving only one step between them.

Shui Linger was shocked by his sudden movement, and so she retreated one step.

Zi Qin slapped her face harshly.

In a minute, the air froze. Everybody was shocked by Zi Qin’s behavior. Only Bai Yao sneered at Shui Linger. The girl wanted to kill her just now, so a slap was only a tiny punishment.

Shui Linger’s head was slapped to the other side, and her jade hairpin almost fell as her hair was messed up by the cool wind. Her face felt hot and painful. She covered her face with her hand after a few seconds, and she could feel the area that was struck begin to swell.

This was the first time Zi Qin had touched her. But this was for another woman, and he had beaten her. Shui Linger’s tears dropped.

Zi Qin took back his sleeve from Shui Linger’s hands, as if he was despising her tears that made his sleeve dirty.

Shui Linger’s heart was tortured. She yelled at him with unbelief in her eyes. “You beat me? You beat me for Bai Yao? Why? Is she so good?”

Zi Qin out his hands behind his back and answered coldly. “My student should not be humiliated by other people.” He emphasized the words My and other to make Shui Linger understand the difference between her and Bai Yao.

Hearing this, Shui Linger’s hands began to tremble.

Zi Qin didn’t take her reaction seriously. He kept on warning her, saying, “Shui Linger, I have warned you. If you act like this again, I won’t let you go so easily. This slap is only a punishment.” His tone became even colder. “If you dare hurt her again, I will tell the elder. The deed of hurting the disciples of our clan is not a small issue.”

His voice chilled her heart like a cold winter.

Shui Linger was frightened by this warning. Their clan had a rule that anyone who hurt a disciple could be driven out from the clan, and the lightest punishment was to repent three months in one’s room.

Shui Linger turned back, shaking her head. Her tears continued to drop as pearls. She didn’t believe her ears. Zi Qin, how ruthless you are to me. For your student, you are so heartless to me. Shui Ling’er thought of the day they first met each other. She had fallen in love with him at first sight.

He was tall and straight, with a n.o.ble but secretive personality, which attracted her attention. She believed that under the mask was a handsome face.

She asked his name. He had answered her, “I am Zi Qin.”

She remembered the name, and since then, she couldn’t forget him.

After that day, she tried to be close to him frequently. She tried her best to take every chance to "happen" to meet him. She asked him about witchcraft, and studied together with him.

Though his att.i.tude was always cold, she didn’t care. She believed her warmth would touch him.

But to her surprise, Bai Yao appeared and became the student of Zi Qin. She would spend every day with him, and after several days, she became very powerful, and surpa.s.sed Shui Linger.

Bai Yao’s appearance made Shui Linger fear. Bai Yao had taken the position of a formal witch before her, and she took away her position in Zi Qin’s heart.

If it was not for her, she would have become the most powerful witch in Mt. Wushan. She would stand by his side. However, this girl named Bai Yao had changed everything.

She was so jealous that she tightly clenched her teeth. But she dared not touch Bai Yao. She knew Zi Qin would do as he said.

Shui Linger took a deep breath and swallowed her hatred toward Bai Yao, and spoke to Zi Qin. “Great! Zi Qin, today I allow you to let her go. But if she breaks our rule again, or she does the same thing to humiliate our clan, I won’t be soft-hearted.” Shui Linger stared at Bai Yao fiercely for a moment, then she left.

Everybody there was surprised by the conflicts among them and dared not make more trouble.

Zi Qin swept his eyes over them and ordered, “Be careful of your mouths. If I hear any rumor about today . . .”

Peopled nodded immediately. They were frightened by him. He didn’t give Shui Linger any dignity.

Being satisfied with their changes, Zi Qin then took back his sharp att.i.tude and called out, “Get back to your studies.”

The audience relaxed and ran away immediately.

After a while, only Zi Qin and Bai Yao were left standing there.

“Thanks!” Bai Yao bowed to Zi Qin.

Although she also had her own methods to deal with Shui Linger, she was a newcomer to the clan, without the disciples’ supports. Besides, her witchcraft was far from that of Shui Linger, though her energy was more powerful. Zi Qin’s standing out was the best way to handle this issue.

“Let’s go.” Zi Qin didn’t want to speak more, nor did he accept her appreciation.

He didn’t need her thanks. He knew that she had no powerful witchcraft to fight with Shui Linger. Meanwhile, she was his student; he couldn’t let others bully her.

Bai Yao understood his mind, so she didn’t care about his watching over her, and simply followed his steps.

On the mountain road, the two walked one after another, like a beautiful Chinese mountains-and-waters painting.

After this conflict, Shui Linger became quieter. But all the mountain’s students discussed Bai Yao secretly.

Bai Yao didn’t care about this. She began the practice of witchcraft.
